aggh.. wrote a whole long post and just crashed Basically, 240KtoGTR is correct The 240K GT has been researched a bit on here, and there was 2 of us that had genuine Australian GT's (Art and Myself). The Australian 240K GT's were the very first to arrive in Australia in the beginning of 73 (mine was complied 01/73). There is rumours that the GT's were actually the first non-develepment cars out of nissan/datsun and this is supported by the low VIN's (mine was #280). we have very early 240Z's too (again mine is #212), so maybe it was practice at the time. I am not sure how many cars were Australian complied as "Coupe GT", but it seems to have quickly changed over to GL at some time in 73.. my guess is there are probably only around 200 or so, for historical sake it would be nice to know.. but records from the time are hard to come by. Nissan 2000GT-R's coupes had the vin KPGC110 Datsun 240K GT's coupes, 240K GL's and Nissan 2000GT-? coupes had the vin KHGC110 Datsun 240K GL 4 doors in Australia and Japan had HGC110 (there was never a GT 4 door in australia) the 2.4L engine was export only, and most japanese cars had 2L motors (?).. The sedan's came in a shortnose and longnose (like the coupe) versions from memory. Export countries included Australia, South Africa and Europe. I presume the previous owner confused the GT with the japanese models GTX etc..

I sure do and would appreciate it! I will pm you
  6. good find then! did you manage to see the car (or better yet, get any photo's) of when he was fixing up the metal work? would love to see it before bog. let me know once he has finished, would love to come out and see the car again (and get this guy's details ) Looks like a Z in the background too.. maybe he can do some rust work on mine
  7. Don't ask.. it was done a LONG time ago - way back when i was putting in the RB20DET, cutting out the rad support was my uncles idea.. i came back to it having already been cut out.. Did you end doing the bodywork yourself? looking really good!
  8. Hi Mate, if you still have it, i am keen to grab this from you still thanks Kent

Man, for $800 do it! I got a bunch of quotes to soda blast mine, and they were $4k upwards!! i ended up spending $1500 for my shell (around $2500 total) give or take to get it sandblasted.
  11. sorry to carry on offtrack, but Brad, make sure you pm me when you get the car back, would love to see it all fixed up (call it closure!) and see how good a job they did on it
  12. Oh Man! congratulations! well done on getting it through! sounds like i need to drop you a pm maybe next year i can head up at some stage and see it in the flesh (i am afraid it is going to be a little while yet before my car will be ready for cruzing!) congrats again!

I bow down to your awesomeness! that is so good!
  14. Thanks, will do.. I am still undecided on the final red colour that i want.. I am after a really solid red that "pops", kind of like the ferrari red (though for some reason i think it would be tacky to use the proper ferrari red) i had previously been looking at the subaru legacy blitzen red (a limited edition model) or the clear red from the mazda 3/6's.. then i discovered the Mercedes Mars red.. loved it until recently when i saw one that looked quite dull in the dark/shade..

Hi Nigel, those links will be working again now Kent
  16. Hi Bruce, good to hear from you, are you still here in Sydney? They coated it in something called Henkel Paintgrip 253 which is suppose to be good in it's current shape for 6-12 months (though apperently it can last years in good conditions), i believe they just spray it on using a spray bottle. Sounds very similar to what you have suggested. I would love to get the car lead filled, but it seems to be somewhat of a dyeing art (unless you are paying uber $$$), and i don't have a clue who would be able to do it for me. The quote from the body shop ended up ranging from 12K (just for the metalwork)->22k.. something i wasn't prepared for (it isn't THAT bad!).. i was hoping to get all the bodywork done and the car straight and in epoxy for around $6k. The Car is back at mum and dad's now, on the rotisserie, so i was planning on seam sealing it all again then putting a couple of coats of 2K epoxy onto the bottom followed by a couple of colour and clear coats.. It won't be perfect, but at least it will allow me to put the drivetrain in and get the thing more moveable. In the meantime, i am still looking for someone to do the bodywork. Having said all that, the 240Z has a few spots of rust that i am not real happy with, and a bent bottom on the drivers side door (i have NO idea how that happened).. since that car is registered and in the garage down stairs i will probably get this done first.. it is killing me to know it is slowly and visably rusting away.. the pain!! Kent
  17. it sure has.. it has been infinately easier to deal with the brake lines and the bottom in general Unfortunately the painting/prepping didn't go through as planned, so i am going to have even more use of the rotisserie in the future.. Can't wait to get the car rolling again though. Kent

Hi Kid-K, I presume you have larger front brakes, and possibly rear disk conversions? what size wheels did you put through the engineering process? Kent
  19. Hi Adam, the only front spoiler that i have seen actually mounted to the car used 2 (or three, can't quite remember) brackets that attached to the spoiler and to the front of the car. they were almost L's but shaped to suit. They had also glued the top of it to the body using some type of mastic/silicon..

Nigel, how easy do you think it would be to create a part from scratch using this method? could you make a solid resin block, cut it in half then carve out the reverse of the mould? Thinking towards the GT-R style outer rings, but i could also do with making a set of larger guage rings to fit the autometer guages i will be installing could you also post some more details on the equipment you used (vaccum setup etc.) thanks
  21. May 2011: The sandblaster had been delayed with some equipment failures and general bad weather, but got an update today with some pictures. The shell is completely stripped along with the doors and front quarter panels. Only the bonnet and boot lid remain to be done. The majority of rust seems to be around previous (rust) repaired areas, and looks like a little bit of accident damage in the rear drivers side quarter. Spoke to the body shop next door for them to quote on fixing it up, he seems to think that the shell is actually quite good and finding a better one would be difficult, but there are a number of areas to be attended to. I had originally planned just to get it epoxy primed and the underside/engine bay painted.. leave the bodywork until later, however i am starting to think that this will just end up costing me more in the long run and that maybe i am better off leaving it up there for a while, paying them in installments to complete the work required in batches (which of course is substantial.. as any thing is in this car game). In any event, it seems that it will take a little longer for me to get the engine in. anyway, that is the latest for now. Kent
  22. Hi Guys, I have decided to try and keep all my updates into a single thread (i have a bad habit of starting new ones) here along with www.project240k.com The past 7 months have been a bit of a roller coaster, but hopefully things will settle down again now. Major updates over the last few months included: October 2010: Continued to chip off the factory sound deadening on the interior as well as paint stripping the engine bay and roof. Started to strip the rear quarters but hitting bog sure slows things down March 2011: Unfortunately with my mates passing, i had to move the 240K from his place along with all the parts i had acquired over the past 8 years. Space was going to be a problem, so i decided that the best way forward would be to send the car away to get sandblasted. The car was removed from the rotisserie and delivered to a media blaster in newcastle.
  23. Hi Mate, thanks, appreciate it, sent you a pm. here is a pic of the one i am after (drivers side, front one)
  24. not mine, but may be good for someone http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280667783111&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:AU:1123
  25. Yes unfortunately.. i have had to move all my rubbish and there is way way too much collected over the years.. the new space i have is already jammed Front Chin Spoiler is sold, also decided to hang onto the webers.. hopefully i can get them running on the L24 in the 240Z R200 Long nose.. price dropped to $200
