any one got a spare c110 gearbox insulator
it is an R31 GTS RB20DET box ( i don't think the 240k box would be able to handle the torque for long), i havn't tried attaching the crossmember up to the box yet, but i would guess that the holes would be in the right spot, given how well alot of nissan stuff can be transposed.. a picture, or even just a description of what is between the crossmember and gearbox would be fantastic! Thanks Kent

any one got a spare c110 gearbox insulator
thanks for that Bruce, appreciate it in the workshop manual, it has a very bad picture of it, it may just be a L shaped bracket, and not rubber (it is very hard to tell).. i guess in that case the rubber insulators attached to the crossmember must obsorb any shock.. would be very interested if you or anyone else could confirm for me what i am missing, hopefully we will be remounting it again this weekend..

RB30 to 260Z conversion engine mounts
Hi Guys, i have a set of Castlemaine Rod Shop engine mounts for sale.. these are custom mounts to mount an RB30E (though it should work with all other RB series engines) into a 260Z i bought these in the hope that they will fit into my 240k, but obviously the engines in the 260z's fit a LOT lower than they do in the K's I bought them for just under AU$150, they are in new condition never even used.. rather than return them, i figure there would be someone else out there interested in them (perhaps internationally?) picture here: http://www.project240k.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=379 Can look into shipping to the US if anyone is interested, but they are fairly heavy, and i would assume fairly expensive please email me kent@project240k.com if interested

73 2 door coupe on ebay
yeah i know.. i even went as far as working out that i could fit the RB20DET in one, and the RB30 in the other... but then again.. it is the cost of a decent strong RB25 gearbox (hmm.. sounds pretty good when you actually say it like that doesn't it!)

any one got a spare c110 gearbox insulator
Hi Guys, Went to try mounting up the RB20DET (NICS) gearbox today, it looks like it might be a pretty good fit, no cutting the floor or bashing out the tunnel!! I presume that there is meant to be a gearbox mounting rubber that sits between the gearbox and the crossmember.. does anyone have one lying around that they want to sell? just thought i would ask before hitting the wreckers.. thanks Kent kent@project240k.com

converting ignition to electronic
i have the ECU pinouts and that is it unfortunately http://r31skylineclub.com/content/techinfo/rb20pinnoutnics.jpg i wonder if the key switch itself could be modified to supply the 12v at cranking? (i have to admit, i have no idea how the key switch would be set up, what would normally be active on the c110 during cranking?) i promise that i will keep the S2000 starter button option as the very LAST resort

converting ignition to electronic
okay, this is what it says (my memory is useless): "Are you sure", he said "that when the key is in the cranking position the ECU is still getting the ignition on 12 volt feed?" and he was right, the old skyline actually switches off the 'ignition on' source that i'd tapped into when the key is at the cranking position. with a temporary direct feed from the battery the engine started instantly" so how could i get the ign on signal to activate this temporary 12v's to the ignition on during cranking? when i get time i will scan the article and stick it on our site

update on our project
thanks guys, great to hear all the support! ktyler, i will see how we go, i will at the very least draw up a template and post it, i am calling in a favour to get them made up, so not sure if i could get more made.. zkid: RBK?? what is that? got a link? it looks like the engine is going to fit very nicely in the bay (as far back as possible), we are going to run electric thermo fans too, to help keep the power going directly to the drivetrain best thing is, the RB30 will just drop in there too (assuming the oil pan isn't too different, we will facter this into the mounts) Datto-Zed: yeah reading up on the nics engines they are very good, they can easily be bored out to 2.4L, shame about the ECU, apparently it is a piece of junk and will flood the engine with fuel after around 210kw.. and i had plans on strapping a T03/04R on there (which would also move to the RB30) it will be nice for the car to start looking more complete!!

update on our project
Hi Guys, just thought i would drop you all a line, as i know some are following the project and i havn't had much time to keep things upto date (which i guess is okay, as it seems i havn't gotten anywhere in the past couple of weeks ) I picked up an R31 GTS-X RB20DET (NICS version) engine, 5 sp gearbox, ecu etc.. on the weekend.. the engine has roughly 24,000km's on it, before it was ripped out and an rb30det put in it's place (it was on a race car!) hopefully this will help us to make up a bit on lost time (we will still build the rb30det when we can, and throw that in later on, though it will also mean a gearbox upgrade, aftermarket ecu etc..).. Spent the last couple of nights tracing the wiring looms, trying to work out the pile of sensors etc.. it is slowly starting to look understandable!! Tried test fitting the engine on the weekend as well, it is slightly out (by about 3-5cm's), so this weekend we will be measuring it up for the custom mounts (and trying the gearbox fitting as well!) converting ignition to electronic
Hi Guys, i managed to get an article describing the wiring installation of an RB20DET into a C210 Skyline (thanks to Jim), complete with EFI, ECU etc.. one of the problems they faced was that the ignition on signal was interrupted (i assume when it gets switched back to on) and caused problems keeping the ecu running.. they mentioned they had to convert it somehow using relays.. any ideas what this is about or how to get around this? i know i will hit this problem very shortly!

Getting the C110 to handle
Thanks 440K, i had imagined that the 240k couldn't have been too bad considering it's sophistication at the time! i will start cheking out some 1600 sites for handling tips great to hear that you are following our adventures i must admit not alot has happened in the last 2 months, unfortunately uni commitments have been more than expected recently.. hopefully there may be some more big news to report after this weekend!! fortunately i have been around modded cars enough to know that bigger isn't always better (well atleast for wheels ). it is just the rest of the suspension that is a bit of black magic to me so far.. though that i am sure will change across the life of the project! thanks C110, i will check out the whiteline, kmac etc. sites now, we already have height adjustable coil overs (not damper adjustable unfortunately), they were C210 struts, modified and fitted into the C110, so atleast we are a little bit ahead

Getting the C110 to handle
Hi Guys, just wondering, a lot of the articles i have read reviewing the C110, said that it had understeering problems. just wondering what any of you have done to improve the handling in the 240k? i know noltec and whiteline make some nolethane bushes, but does anybody make swaybars, etc.. all i can comment at the moment is that mine handles like it has no wheels (for good reason too:D)

240k at wreckers
Hi Guys, just thought i would let you guys know that there is a 1978 240K 4 door at Pick and Payless (Blacktown in Sydney). it has been in a NSF accident Interior has been pretty much stripped (especially once i got the dash pad), the engine is gone, as are the rear lights etc.. Diff and rear assembly is still intact, fuel tank is there, rear doors and windows are there, front and rear windscreen is there I will probably be going back there tomorrow if anyone wants anything. If anyone else knows any around, might be an idea to post them here, help each other out!

tail light restoration
Hi Guys, just wondering, is there an easy way to dye plastic light lenses. in particular i want to dye a clear lens red, and somehow remove the red from a stop lamp to make it clear. If this can't be done, is it expensive to have some sort of plastics place make up a coloured replica of the lenses? this probably won't make much sense to the z guys out there, but the 240K guys it will Thanks Kent
