  1. This reminds me of one of the "Married with Children" episodes when Al wanted to know who sang a song that went, "Hmmm mmm HIM..." HA HA HAH AH HAHA

79-81 were 2 piston with the pistons facing away from each other and the inside piston moved the cage on top inward while the outer pushed the pad into the rotor. Very weird design.

Here you go, Arne, something more fitting a normal person's budget!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-Tail-Lights-Taillights-NR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33716QQihZ018QQitemZ280009969930QQrdZ1

In Placerville, CA I got a quote for less than 50 bucks just to boil the tank. If I were you, I would use POR-15 and line it myself after having a professional boil the tank. That way, YOU KNOW what's going into the tank, you KNOW that the directions were followed (hopefully correctly) and you KNOW that there won't be any surprises! And, after the lining is finished, a spray-on laquer paint will work well for the tank exterior.

The tabs are located on the cowl, basically bent metal from the cowl that slide into slots on the body frame under the windshield. Once you remove the screws holding the front-end of the cowl, pick up the front end while pulling the cowl out toward the front. Viola! If you have a Dremmel tool, you can grind out a notch in the remaining bolt and remove the thing with a straight blade screwdriver...

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation. cowl, at least on mine, 5 or 6 screws from the engine bay side, and a tab locking each end near the windshield. You SHOULD be able to remove the windshield wipers by taking the end nuts off the wiper arm and wiggling the wiper off. You may want to use PB Blaster (penetrating catalyst) to work on the corrosion.
  12. I found it. I am lysdexic! Sorry, it's 406, not 604! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240z-260z-280z-280zx-6-spoke-Polished-Wheels-NR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43954QQihZ016QQitemZ260007573266QQrdZ1
  13. There is that, but did you see the 14X6 ZX 6 spoke wheels that are going for over $600??? My wife says I should polish up mine, but I want to put them on my car!!!

WOW. I learned something. I was under the impression that all of the [edit] American [/edit] 240/60/80 styles (69-78) were HLS30 designated, except for right hand drives (RLS30)...I was way wrong!
  16. Mat M posted a post in a topic in Open Discussions
Look for a set of numbers after "HLS30" There's your VIN if you have a left-hand drive vehicle.
  17. You mean, like this cover? And, as far as the fuse box goes, does the Gen I style have the short pigtail, or the long one? I can't remember off hand. Sorry for the poor quality.
  18. Here here!
  19. This might seem sacrilegious, but you can reinstall your stock exhaust manifold for the test, and after you pass, reinstall your header.

I am running the ZX dizzy electronic ignition; I have not had to give up my tach. Have you tried lifting your carb pistons with your thumbs to see if there is too much of a lifting resistance (on th erear carb) when the throttle is applied? Is it possible to have the carbs sync'ed and yet to have one lazy piston?

It may just be that your mechanical fuel pump just can't keep up with demand. Sounds like stomping on it in first gear takes most of the fuel out of the floats, and while mashing it in 2nd, all the gas gets used up and the pump isn't making it. It's easy to rebuild the pump. The main thing you need are all the gaskets intact. Oh, yeah, there is a small rubber boot inside where the pump arm goes through, DO NOT try to pry it out of it's seat. Those old rubber boots are fragile! There are two one-way valves that may need cleaning, or it may be possible that the pump arm just needs to be repositioned on the cam. Hope that helps. Have you tried to set your mixture screws on your SUs? Tighten both screws all the way, and then back out 2 1/2 turns and go from there.
  24. I will trade you straight up for a 71 gen II 240! It's auto, stock, and RUNS!!
