  1. I have a seemingly dateless gold cover FSM that I was told was for my 71. I also have the L20 and L24 motor FSM. As you can see from the pics, they aren't pristine. Some of the pages are loose in the 240 FSM, but they are all there. The motor FSM is missing the pages before ET3, but has every page thereafter. I would like to donate these for "the Cause" if I can get them back in maybe a bound folder (3-ring type).:cheeky:
  2. NOPE!!! When I was a kid, I watched a cartoon called Thundercats. Kinda like a lion/human version of GI Joe. I found the avatar for the show and decided to abscond with it. Please let me know!!!
  3. Uh oh. Henk, does that mean the pair I got for my 71 won't fit as well??? AAAARRRGGGG. Even with my tax refund I cannot swing $408!!!! DAMN.

  5. This is an interesting article. I am not a collector by any stretch of the imagination. But, I have the same passion about Datsuns, especially the S30 Z that many on this board share. I have never seen the same vintage Datsuns, let alone Zs, on Speedvision's B-J auction. AND I am definately NOT an "insulated insider." That said, I wonder where Mr. Barrett is during all this controversy? Is he ignoring the fracas, hoping his company gains notoriety? Is he distancing himself from Mr. Jackson's alleged antics? Is he just as culpable? Hmmm.

You are correct, I confused the terminology. Yes, but if he wanted a "beefier" clutch, he could swap in the entire clutch system from the 240mm flywheel 2+2. The 240mm flywheel WILL fit the L28 crank, and ZX 5 speed. http://zhome.com/rnt/L28conversion/engine.html

If your car is going to be a strictly street cruizer, a stock clutch should suffice. You may want to resurface the pressure plate if the donor clutch has high milage or had scored the plate. The best clutch (sticking with Datsun/Nissan parts) would be from any 2+2 manual Z. As ezzzzzzz said, make sure you have all the pieces from the donor car. You will be driven mad if you try to swap the innards from 2 different clutches.

Welcome, Gabe, Where are you located? It would make it easier for members to know where you are in order to offer you some help with your swap. Also, some regions are easier than others to find quality parts. Regarding your post: since you are using Datsun/Nissan parts, you should not have a problem with fitment. The running gear on a ZX will be just about the only stuff you can swap to your Z. EZZZZZZZZ is correct with his post, another thing to consider is that the 81-83ZX 5 speed close ratio. The threads here go on for days about these parts. (now to really confuse you) you may also want to pick up a 3.9 R200 diff from the non-turbo manual 81-83ZX. With a thurough search you will find plenty of info, and like you said, members here all love to tell you what/how they did their cars. If you are still interested, there is a lot of info on hybridz.org, as well.

Man, this thread is GOOD! I would see about - -jumping his brake lights to his horn, so very time he hits the pedal the horn blasts!!! -if he has hubcaps, place a couple marbles underneath (only makes noise at slow speeds).

One trick I learned in Driver's Ed: Turn the heater on when you think your car is overheating. The extra cooling given by the heater core (small radiator) will help reduce the engine heat. I hear summers in FL can be brutal to a car's cooling system. Something to ponder....
  19. It is my understanfing that electric FPs are better suited to push a load rather than pull it. I have never seen that application.

Mine is the same way! New batteries must be shorter than stock. Fortunately for me, the battery tray sides are tall enough to keep the wood from making contact with the metal.

Thanks, hd240z, I think I was spinning my wheels. Is that a straight tap into the ignition wire (like a 'T'?), then the fuse, and THEN spade connector to the green side of the T connector behind the radio???

Thanks, hd240z! I have been racking my brain trying to find a way to enable the pump to run when the key is turned to the ON position, while trying to include the oilsender. IIRC, there is an in-line fuse just dangling behind the radio. It's not the radio's fuse because I already took the clarion auto-reverse POS out. I do not know if that fuse is currently being used.

Greetings to all. I have been searching/researching the installation of an electric fuel pump on my 01/71 for a few days, on this and other sites, and I have have found where and how to install the pump and to which wire it should be connected, as well as where the power should be connected on the T connector behind the pass. side of the radio. What I have not found, and I am asking because I am a complete moron when it comes to vehicle electrical systems, is: 1) How, exactly, would one run a power line from the oil pressure sender to the T connector? Would the extra electrical load of the fuel pump inhibit the operation of the sender? Those are some small guage wires, IIRC. 2) I do not understand relays for the life of me, where would one be installed in relation to the ignition, battery and oil pressure sender? I understand home electrical systems to some degree (multiple phasing still makes me scratch my head) but I am paraniod that the slightest mistake will make my car inoperable, and I just CAN NOT have that! TIA!
