ya, the article is in a terrible state right now. if someone like Carl or ALan would only rewrite it....

does anyone else here visit wikipedia? if you do, do you edit things when you find errors? i do, and it seems that the article about the 240Z ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/240Z ) usually contains several factual errors at any given time. it seems as though every few months i have to delete a reference to Albrecht van Goetz (see discussion for more info). Also, the HP figures, although correct according to the VIN/engine plate, are misrepresented (since allegedly there was a shift in how it was being reported). the 432/432R sections are greatly stripped down, and other spots as well.. any takers? -Jason EDIT - it should also be noted that the "Fairlady Z" is practically ignored when it comes to statistics, as well.

welcome! tons of local for ya, too.
  6. picked up the cam from ebay; waitied til i got a new head to install. buuuut.... picked up a head with a stage IV cam/schnieder valvetrain preinstalled, so the cam is just sitting there now EDIT- i should also add that it's a reground stock by american cams, so high zinc oil isn't as necessary. and it's a solid cam
  7. more lift+duration = higher flow = higher HP potential. i have a stage 2.5 cam collecting surface rust if you're interested.....

^if the gauge is calibrated correctly, the middle should be 185*, so using that logic, that reading is closer to 195-200

  10. welcome! glad you've made it over to this site, and as you've found out it's a wealth of 411!
  11. haha, did you get my PM? i thought you were ignoring me
  12. ^i lied, it's an r180 i confused myself with the moustache bar and forgot that the R180 and R200 bars are at 180* of each other. on that note, anyone with an r200 moustache bar willing to part with it?
  13. welcome! and yes, it sounds like your carbies are all gunked up. i don't know of a website that has an exploded view of flattops; i know that there are a few people on this site that have had success in rebuilding those carbs, though. perhaps they will chime in....

^exactly. it seems highly unlikely that anything in that circuit that could have blown would be causing this issue, especially since spark is there. i'm all out of ideas....
  15. ah yes; those parts would be something more than "cobbled together" from the looks of it, that's an MSA-style exhaust (judging by the muffler and tip)

^makes sense, stephen, but if he is getting spark/air/fuel when cranking (to verify spark), then the only thing it can be is timing AFAIK.... did you check the order of your spark plug wires?
  17. e_racer1999 replied to FairladyZS30's post in a topic in Help Me !!
is your timing right? if it is, pull a plug and connect it to the wire, then set it next to the block (to ground it). see if you're getting spark to the plugs. if you have air, fuel, and spark, there should be no reason it doesn't run or start, assuming the timing is correct.
  18. actually, it sounds like someone got a car in pretty roughed up condition, threw on some "go fast" and "pretty" parts and called it a day. what's funny is from the first pic i thought "well, that car doesn't look THAT messed up, looks a little like my car.." then i saw the rest of the pics and thought "......oh......"

ya. pull your plugs and look at them, check your plug wires, check your dizzy rotor and cap (for cracks, worn contacts, carbon buildup, etc), and check ALL plugs at the plugs, cap, and coil. try starting fluid and see if it does anything.
  20. ^well, he COULD afford an iphone...

^depends on the revs. at idle, mine is right where yours is and sometimes lower. while driving (not fully heated, it's about even with your temp gauge. when my temp gets that high i get nervous and stephen -
