  1. ^^ i figured that i was low-balling the guesses... anyway, when i said "relaible" i didn't mean the engine was gonna blow, i meant that NA always has the power on demand... with a turbo, you have to have a properly tuned turbo for the application. there are lag issues, and sometimes one can be without power for some time. sometimes, if a car is course driving, the turbo car may be a complete dog because of the odd areas of the powerband that a turbo car has. for example, a car could be on a course with a lot of twisties and never make it into a proper RPM range to get decent power. anyway, i do agree that you can get more HP for the $$ with turbo, but to be honest, in going all out you will pay more with the turbo. my reasoning is: all of the tuning you will be doing to the NA car will have to be done to the turbo car as well, and then you don't have to worry about the cost of the turbo(s)
  2. ^^i think the highest HP N?A motors are probably max 300, and the highest HP turbo motors are around 450... just a guess.... at any rate, turbo vs NA is a complicated topic. the application of the car is going to be the determining factor. granted the turbo is going to have the potential for higher HP, but at what cost? the NA motors have reliable (no that a turbo's going to break, but turbo lag, etc, is an issue) power all through the power band. turbos' power comes in a big surge.
  3. the knob may be stripped inside...
  4. also, the KA24DE pistons have a HUGE bore difference...

a lot of interesting information here....!
  6. excellent car! very clean, and it looks extremely well maintained... dogma: IMHO the sheer volume of air that makes it into the filters makes up for it being warm. eventually i will go with a CAI system or use 280z vents and duct it, but for now it works fine

  11. e_racer1999 replied to candyorangez's post in a topic in Help Me !!
that wouldn't do it. check the voltge at the battery and check the starter. if those work dandy, then the motor may be siezed..
  12. i really hope someone on this site finds her a good home; even if it is for a few parts...
  13. i don't know much about synching webers, but i'm experiencing one thing similar.. my car drops rpms when it stops as well, and i'm running SUs. is this universal, or is it a problem that we both need to address?

why not just get a haynes or chilton? i have a chilton and an FSM; the chilton only cost $12, the FSM was like $75
  15. hahaha! DOOF ... i suppose that would help! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7970209833&category=6783
  16. here's some pics of it on my old car. looks the same on my new car, 'cept the engine bay is cleaner...
  17. this isn't mine, so i didn't post it in the ebay section in classifieds (hope that's right....) anyway, it's a "complete parts car".... check it out!

ya, you might not want to even cut the old one out without gettin jiggy with it, as it will probably warp even more
  20. i'll get the pic up tomorrow (or tonight when i get home from work). my opinion on the exposed air filter actually leans towards the exposed air filters. that is what i have on my car currently (twin k&ns), and the performance from them is outstanding compared to the old box. granted, one of the CAI set ups that is available would probably work better, but stock vs. exposed? exposed all the way.
  21. well, the only question that i can answer right off the bat is about the cotter pin... yes, there is a washer and a spring to take up a lot of the slop. as far as the rest of the questions go, PM bruce palmer. the Ztherapy folks know their sh!t
  22. the reason that the f54 blocks have more power is because of the flattop pistons. some DID have dished b/c of the turbo, but that's the big issue.. dave: what is the engine casting number? the majority of the F54s had the slots if honsowetz is correct (which he probably is), since the f54 block was made from '80 to 83 (correct me if i'm wrong)
  23. ^^i have one from a 72.....
  24. ^^i already have a P79 and an N47.... if we were talking P90 then i might be game...
  25. ^^i am some time in a few weeks... i feel inspired!
