  1. Thanks for the reply John. I had heard that there was some inherent weakness in the crank when the L-series was at 7500 rpm for a length of time. Unfortunately I don't recall where exactly I heard that from; perhaps over at hybridz...
  2. Is this on an L24? If so, don't forget that the larger valves will require eyebrowing the block. What other mods are you doing? I'm running ~Stage IV and it's perfect for me (10:1 CR) And yes, you are going to need a lot of work by the right person to get that E31 in decent condition. Are you using the E31 simply for CR reasons? If so, the N42 will give you a slightly lower CR but won't require near as much work to flow properly. You could also go with a closed cc Maxima N47 for even more CR and large valves.
  3. Are you referring to the catastrophic 7500+ harmonics or other harmonics in general? Just trying to gain some knowledge.

I have some vid clips of my 6-1 with no exhaust. Youtube user corndogbatter
  5. IIRC our cranks are internally balanced, ie unlike domestic v8s that require the use of an external balancer.
  6. That is the most awesome conversion ever!
  7. my bad; didn't see the other threads
  8. Seems like a pretty interesting idea. But I am going to have to agree with Chris. Even though I am in no way an engineer, I know that crank-driven superchargers require a lot of power to operate. Any performance gains that may be derived from this engine would probably be used up by the superchargers. Just my uneducated opinion

Feel better!!! Was wondering where you went, glad you didn't run away
  10. What? The car or Mr. Camouflage's sense of humor?
  11. Cool. Is this an ad or a technical discussion... or....?
  12. very nice! I was going to post that someone was building the same thing over at hybridz, but then I read your post!

The fuse box is located in the center console under where the defroster switch and choke/seatbelt lights are.

I'm assuming you put in a reasonable fresh battery in there and are jump starting it. I agree with Justin in thinking that corroded connectors are to blame. Otherwise, yeah, a starter would be your next stop.

HEAR HEAR! Essentially everything we believe is due to propaganga from some source or another; something that we have aligned ourselves with by using our propaganda-derived political opinions as guidelines. This is one of those situations where objective proof is going to be near impossible to find because of all of the muck and rational arguments from either side. At any rate, the most we can do is attempt to find a solution that will make everyone happy (yeah right), or at least elect people that *may* figure something out while not being swayed by any special interest. In short, we're pretty much screwed no matter what we do because we will never agree on everything, and lobbies are going to pull the political agenda every which way so that no real progress can be made. mi dos centavos

i think he may have been referring to the L-series being invented in the 1960s, at least that's what I got from it.
  17. have you checked your timing? also, you may have a vacuum leak somewhere.
  18. All of the above! Well, saving the fact that the car is now parked in the garage until I find out what happened in the bottom end . I love looking out over that long hood like it's the deck of an aircraft carrier, combined with that amazing rumble that grows into a growl as my right foot digs deeper. Any time I take her out, people always come up to me and say "I used to have a Z/510/etc.." and we get into Datsun conversations. I love how perfectly the windows are designed to let the right amount of air in without making you feel like you're in Chicago. Even the smell of the slightest bit of unburnt fuel with the intoxicating exhaust smell hits me in the right way.
  19. Stated perfectly.

Welcome! This site is a valuable resource to the owners of Zs, and we look forward to pictures of your S130! If you haven't already, order a catalog from MSA (Motorsport Auto) and Black Dragon. You can find tons of parts through those outlets.

    groan... WELCOME!
  22. I must also say that I am a big opponent to the war. Political reasons aside, what Michael did was nothing short of honorable. Although my political feelings are that of contempt regarding war, I will set those aside to recognized the selfless sacrifice that this man did to save the lives of so many others. Thank you.
  23. I kinda like 'em even though I'm more for the "period" look. reminds me of this car:
  24. Ya, well, I needed to rebuild the engine anyway. Now I just have to do it NOW :/
  25. well, it will be a little while. After finally getting the clutch where i want it and finally getting the speedo working my engine blew. So now the tear down commences! Sounds like a broken rod
