you could get a reconditioned one from MSA or VB; i believe they're around $2k for long blocks. if you want to go junkyard (which might be better overall cost-wise) you can probably expect to pay around $150
  17. it's definitely not ideal, but it works for me. i haven't felt any noticible power loss, but i can't honestly say i've felt any gains. it SEEMS like it makes more power, but that's only seat-of-the-pants.. since i'm going to be putting my vented hood on, the vent is right above the filters, so i'm hoping that it will bring in more cold air.
  18. i dig the k&ns as well.... here's my set up (in my dirty engine bay; now they're in the clean one)
  19. welcome! you found the right site if you need info!

This story happened a while ago in Brisbane, Australia, and even though it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it's true. John Bradford, a Sydney University student, was on the side of the road hitch hiking on a very dark night and in the midst of a storm. The night was rolling on and no car went by. The storm was so strong he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him. Suddenly he saw a car slowly coming towards him and stopped. John, desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, got in the car and closed the door, just to realize there was nobody behind the wheel and the engine wasn't on! The car started moving slowly. John looked at the road and saw a curve approaching. Scared, he started to pray, begging for his life. Then just before he hit the curve, a hand appeared through the window and turned the wheel. John, paralysed with terror, watched how the hand appeared every time they came to a curve. John saw the lights of a pub down the road so, gathering strength, jumped out of the car and ran to it. Wet and out of breath, he rushed inside and asked for two shots of tequila. He then started telling everybody about the horrible experience he went through. A silence enveloped everybody when they realized he was crying and....wasn't drunk. About 15 minutes later, two guys walked into the same pub. They were also wet and out of breath. Looking around and seeing John Bradford sobbing at the bar, one said to the other, "Look, Bruce.. here's the f**king idiot that jumped in the car while we were pushing it."

man! what's worse is that i thought about something like that almost a year ago and didn't do anything about is!!! DAMN!!!!
  24. ya, i'm pretty sure that it is not a 71 as stated, considering the rear panel, bumper, and even the lic plate. the ca # on my late '72 is 512 XXX and the evel car is 702 XXX. ca lic plates go in numerical order (somewhat); but that's not to say that the car wasn't re-registered at some point in time. anyway, just a thought.....
