Overhead cam VS pushrod design? Which is better?
again, what i'm saying gets twisted. i'm not comparing the L-series to a V8, i'm comparing a like for like on a pushrod motor for a OHC motor. comparing an SBC to a stock L-series is kinda nuts; what i'm referring to would be an OHC (or DOHC) V8 to a pushrod V8 (as per one of my earlier posts) the reason that i am making these comments is in reference to the efficient was the heads can be set-up, i.e. multiple valves per cylindr, i.e. better breathing. if i was going to compare the l-series to an sbc i would definitely go a different way in taking that argument, and it would more than likely have nothing to do with power.

need info on head and intake porting
you need a little turbulence in the intake. i don't know why, i'll ask my dad...

Overhead cam VS pushrod design? Which is better?
more efficiency per cc and weight? what i meant was: it's not a better designed motor. the only reason that it's cheaper is because it's easier to get ahold of. if OHC motors were more plentiful (as in comparison to pushrod motors) they would be as inexpensive as pushrod motors.

Overhead cam VS pushrod design? Which is better?
"a pushrod motor" by way of SBC or SBF is an inexpensive way to go fast. the only advantage that it has is that it's plentiful. that doesn't make it better, just easier to get ahold of. pushrod motors are GENERALLY inefficient. i emphasize the generally because someone will definitely prove me wrong. anyway, if OHC engines like the SR or RB were plentiful enough, they'd be cheap too...

Higher lift cam
truth: higher lift = smaller base circle. smaller base circle = new lash pads. new lash pads = new rocker arms higher lift also = better springs (for MOST higher lift cams) it's probably best to do it right the first time.... i've heard too many stories about new cams getting ruined

Inbred Jed's car is for sale!
nothing in the ad really stuck out as being awful to me. even after i took a second look...

Inbred Jed's car is for sale!
that's true, and even though i'm not saying that i personally like the car, it's unfair to be so judgemental to a car; especially since it hasn't been modded THAT much...
-
Inbred Jed's car is for sale!
some zs are daily drivers... i mean, my car may not look as nice as any of yours, but does that mean that my car is any less of a z? you guys are being so judgemental and callous about someone trying to sell their car.

Overhead cam VS pushrod design? Which is better?
i'm not a fan of the pushrod engines, but chevrolet's corvette did. the ZR-1 of ~1995 had a DOHC V8. the new Z06 corvettes have pushrod engines that are more powerful AND more efficient. it all goes into the little disgn elements..

Overhead cam VS pushrod design? Which is better?
what i was getting at: it's a little unfair to match a 6 to an 8 (for the 8, of course! j/k) so i figure let's match an 8 to an 8. i know that in the truck world the titan is the new king (according to car and driver, etc.) so i would go so far as to say that maybe the DOHC titan motor would be a better comp engine to say a chevy OHV v8.
-
Overhead cam VS pushrod design? Which is better?
i think a more fair argument would be comparing a chevy v8 with the v8 from say a titan. if we go putting an L6 against a V8, of COURSE there is going to be some discrepancy.

Hi-mount Brake light
i've seen a 3rd light on a Z around here... it looks to be a self-adhesive flat black piece that is about the length of the hatch... it has a nifty LED light in the middle and it mounts right above the hatch. i figure it's a universal piece, but it looked pretty cool..
