New Seats! (FD)
thanks for the info, i put them in the other weekend and just got some larger nuts and used them to space it out, as could only be bothered going to bunnings, may go to a proper place and get some of those thick washers then, thanks for the tip i then spent to much time today getting the drivers seat to sit more centered and lower, but the small adjustment prob wasn't worth the time spent! i grinded the back section of the bit the seat grabs into off, and drilled out the front holes to allow it to sit lower (and slightly further foward), then elongated the holes at the front and back to slide it over slightly also now its pretty close to the height the stock seats were judging by the arm on door ratio , mayb in a year or so i'll bother doing it to the passengers seat too! i have to take a tall passenger on tuesday so it will b itneresting seeing if he fits alright. i sat in a few different sports cars at the motor show and none of their seats seemed quite as tight as these fd ones are, and htey look great too! i'll take some pics when its daylight

New Seats! (FD)
thanks for this write up, i've just gotten myself a set of fd seats and am wondering "(with the 32mm bolt spacers on the rear mounts)" you are talking about? where did these spaces come from? or are they just general spacers and not ones that should of been there already? just from sitting in them on the ground they feel like they are going to be a great upgrade and i reakon they look sexy, thanks again

1JZ Vvt in and running
wanna swap? who have you got insurance with out of curiosity? is there any advantage to running metal piping over the plastic hosing you have for the intercooler? the only one i can think of is the smoothness of the walls? or is that plastic stuff just a cover? are you using the factory intercooler or something else? feel free to upload more pics of your setup and the mounts you made up!

Who is running Koni?
well to answer ur initial question, i've got koni red's, they work well for me they aren't to harsh to use everyday, although i'd now like some seats with padding to hold me in round corners better! but in saying that i bought a pair of them and had them serviced off a guy who sold them for illuminas. he wasn't happy with them but it may of been due to the setup he had.the other pair i bought off a guy who went to running coilovers using one pair of the koni's but in the other end of the car, as he wasn't happy with the koni's and said it was to prone to oversteer, but once again could of been the setup? my car was oversteering way to easily on long bends in the wet, and that problems now gone. i had mine setup by a guy who rally's a 240z with the same settings mine are on and he's quite competitve so? as while they aren't externally adjustable you can still adjust them to suit i was thinking about illuminas but had no idea what springs to run with them due to that thread confusing the hell out of me , and i'm in australia so they dont end up being the cheapest after shipping. koni's can be serviced, but for the price of the koni's+servicing you can buy 2 sets of illuminas so your choice i have a 260z and they required modifying to suit as they are made for 240z's, but getting them modified is only around US$50 anyway, and its the rears that need this from memory

907 paint code..same as BRG??
what??? are you saying the train was blue but they decided to paint it orange? and i'm not saying my green is a rare green (its been resprayed in the orginal colour), i'm just saying imho the pictures of this paint code are wrong, atleast to the #240 that was used in australia, as i have now seen 2 other zeds over here painted the same colour, although i guess i havn't confirmed their paint code, so it could be another colour, as i havn't gotten to speak to the owners, but then the orginal owner of my car said he had it resprayed in the orginal colour, and i dont see why he would of changed it since he picked it in the first place! i'd love my car the colour of the miura concept, still debating what to do though, am going to leave it until next spring

Rear Disc Brake Conversion
what sort of price did it end up costing you? do you have a rough estimate of the diametre of the two rotors used off the top of your head? y z32 not skyline? was it hard to cente the holes you drilled or you just double checked it alot? as sad as it is, at this stage i'm just after it really for the looks to fill some 17" rims, plus braking faster would b nice although i know i dont REALLY need it at this stage (although am planning to eventually purchase a halfcut and was thinking about using the brakes off it), so trying to weigh up the options, and am begining to think along the lines of doing things properally the first time more and more, although $100 for an r31 rear setup from a pick a part doesn't sound to bad! is it expensive/legal to go for a hydrolic handbrake at the same time? just for a bit of fun

Rear Disc Brake Conversion
ERMINIO are your z32 brakes a performance upgrade from the commodore setup you had? what rotors are you using with it, and what diameter are they? was it fairly easy/cheap? sorry if you've already answered this elsewhere -evan

BRE spoiler install
i agree and i agree, i keep changing my mind as to if i want one or not, it all comes down to what you want to do. Toecutter has his mounted with an adhesive which he says is more than strong enough, so strong it rips off the paint if you try to pull it off, so not sure if that would be that much of a help? and you could always just get a rubber thing to cover over the holes from the badges. if i get fender mirrors my thought is the spoiler is needed, but until then i think i will go without

Model kits
280z1975, thanks heaps for the pic, thats exactly what i was looking for. the pictures i remember of it where it out of the box, but that ones great! the only 240z models i have were pre-built, ones the kyosho that looks like a model of alan's fairlady, then ones a cheapo green one as kind of a "mini me" to my car, even though there really isn't very much that similar except the basic shape and basic colours (tan vs cream, different shades of green, 240 vs 260)

Model kits
does anyone have pictures of, (or the actual kit) that comes with the "datsun" sticker stripe off centre down the top of the car, and 240z written porsche style on the side (body coloured writing, black shaddow) both on black i believe i can't find the pictures anywhere and its bugging me

Ugly Orange 240z
thank you people, sorry i hadn't been on this for a couple of days! and its a very good point u have there gav, but i wanted pics to learn from its mistakes! i think i'm going to go with the blue colour now but its still good to see it. i think this car needs its front spoiler on and to loose the louvers and get better rims, i am not a fan of the 240z writing in the side stripe, sulios is nicer or the style this porche has, my neighbours old early 80's celicas had the same sorta thing. they laser cut vynil yeah? so wouldn't b to hard to get 240z ones made up i guess huh

Ugly Orange 240z
I've been spending quite a bit of time trying to find pictures of the "ugly" orange 240z that had flares but then it had honda offset rims on it so it looked stupid. the guy kept trying to sell it on ebay, and there was atleast one thread about it, but all my searches dont help me come across it any help would be great as i'm concidering painting my car with a similar colour scheme and am pretty sure i'll regret it

907 paint code..same as BRG??
my car is colour #240 and it looks nothing like the colour of the car pictured on that zhome page if that helps at all...although its not a british racing green colour, some people ask if it is or tell me to get it painted in it, however i like this shade of green and havn't come across a green on any other car that i like more, its got a hint of yellow in it when the light hits it but not to much. however am concidering painting it orange or a laguna seca blue kind of colour after scratching up one side of the car the other day

those of you with ZG flares
i've just ordered myself a set of the same wheels as what toecutter has, but with black centers. he had chosen the size based on what most people with watanabes get which is 17 x 8.5 -6 for the front with 225 x 45 tyres on the front and 17 x 9.5 -19 for the back with 255 x 40. which i'm guessing would be the tyres arne was suggesting you could use on the skinnier rims, but with the stretched on look. they are ROH wheels http://www.roh.com.auand run for around $2200rrp here, and then we also have simmons wheels here in Aus which cost a bit more http://www.simmonswheel.com.au/

Whats the Koni deal?
i have got 861812 (rear) 861811 (front) in my 260z, they require a bit of modification to get them to fit in a 260z, although i dont really know what as i didn't do it. the ride is heaps better than stock, although i haven't driven any zed besides mine so no real idea sorry. they are being used with low king springs and have dropped me car to the height i reakon they should leave the factory at (ie, it could still be lower, but it doesn't look stupidly high) i had them installed by toperformance here in australia, and the put them on the settings they belive are best (not sure what they actually are). it feels alot more stable, however the front still feels like its floating a bit sometimes, but then its currently pretty hard for daily driving, but not to bad. but then i bought most of my setup off a guy who had just upgraded to coilovers as he wasn't happy with the setup at all. he had adjustable sway bars and said no matter what setting any of it was on, the car would just slide in the wet and never felt right, so ? he's a member here so might chip in

beautiful car! how do you find the fender mirrors? i see on your 1971 240z there appears to be something where the fender mirrors would of been mounted? (what are they?) and that there are no mirrors on the car?
