C110: RB20 or L28?
i was thinking of replying to this thread with "y not use a 1/2jz", in about a year when i have more money (and am off my p's) this is the swap i'm currently looking to pursue, most likely 1jz due to price and still want it to be semi fuel efficent, but then i guess to produce the power no matter what engine it is, besides the different ineffiecenties it still has to receive the same amount to be able to produce it i was therefore thinking a 2jz with a 6 speed would b nuts, as then for freeway type driving the torque and 6th gear would work out good, but the price really bites, so i think at some stage you have to remember if the aim is to save money and therefore use a more fuel efficent motor, at some stage the cost of doing it should be concidered, a perfect example is my mate who's putting a k20a into a crx...huge waste of money, but the rising price of fuels and my desire to do an engine swap was making me think of an rb20 or sr20, and if the sr really is heaps better, which i guess it is since they didn't kill it off, i'd just be an issue of getting the mounts here in aus the other problem with like a 2jz or other rediculously powerful engine is the bracing that would be needed so it doesn't bend the whole frame, so therefore atleast at this stage i dont think i'd want over like 250kws, and while this might be possible out of an l28, if i ever wanted more i'd b stuck, where as with the newer ones, rb or whatever, there's a huge room for improvement should i ever get bored for its price i reakon the 1jz seems to be the go, but then there's the whole toyota in a nissan thing, my thought is that since the concept before 240z's was powered with the help of yamaha, and parts of 1jz's are also, then it all works out! i wonder how much a vvt-i 1jz gte is...and since ppl put the 2jz block on their 1jz's to make the same sort of rb30 hybrid thing with their 1jz's without having to change over the head i guess this would always be an option, and would mean the supra 6 speed could also be used? but the manual gearbox's seem to b more than the engine is! but there's that possibily of the older gearbox that the one in syd (now in england) car did i think thats about it, hope i make semi sense...the 1uzfe also seems like a great engine, specially supercharged, although it costs heaps, and the 1jz seems to be the winner with soarer owners!

Gasoline Prices, and your Z
isn't this where something like a lotus 7 or a cappuccino comes in? or any other car that weighs next to nothing so its the closest thing to a motorbike, with "safety"

Street Machines "Zedbra"
i found this interesting (and thought it might be a cheap way to get an LSD, install coilovers and have more common wheels availible to me) and after not being able to find anything on it i emailed street machine, who gave me a number for otomoto and told me to speek to a certain person there, and after delaying it for quite a bit i decided i may as well call them! i just got off the phone and the person said they'd never heard of such a conversion either and said he doesn't see how it could/would work without having to cut out a fair bit of the body to fit the fat supra bits in there, and also said a supra LSD is expensive, if anything change it to s13 stuff i've replied to street machine to see if they just made this up then , hopefully we'll get an answer

Blacked out tail lights?
yeah you simply buy a spray can that has tint stuff in it, i've done it on my side markers as i didn't like how much they were standing out and one day want to get them welded out of there so no biggy. for brake lights i woudlnt recommend it as you can get defected for it and possilby void your insurance, i've heard a story about an insurance company not paying up because the driver had their lights tinted so the car behind didn't see them brake, + on a 240z the rear lights are sexy anyway, on a 260z i think tinting can look quite nice as pictured another way i heard from a honda owner is to put a stocking on the inside, so you can easily remove it...i was thinking of puting one over the reverse lights in my 260z then tinting some spare lenses i have lying around but i can't b bothered and the ones i have in there have been cleaned so looks nice

Did I almost get taken???? (long)
my bro nearly got scammed, he was going to buy some bose lifestyle system, and the person in their auction (it was a 24hour auction for one) had "contact me for a buy it now price) so my bro contacted him and he was like $1500, if you agree to it let me know and i'll tell u my bank details. this is a unit that has a $10,000 rrp my bro said yeah sounds good, he replied and said, i've cancelled the auction and put one up with a "buy it now" price under my wifes account (another account with around 30 feedback all postitive) , and here are my bank details (noticing that he was pushing that we put the email into his account, not the one ebay suggested, and ofcourse this was western union or whatever, but luckily my bro was reading up on it at the same time and found out that its the dodgiest way to pay) we then continued to do the buy it now option before someone else did, but i think we emailed him and said we'll give you $100 to do COD (as you can add on postage and handling it isn't a huge deal and made sure someone else didn't buy it) and suggest that western union is dodgy so we dont feel safe etc. he then stopped replying, and a couple of days later we received an email from the two peoples accounts saying DONT BUY OR PAY FOR THIS ITEM, WE DID NOT PUT IT UP FOR SALE AND DO NOT HAVE IT!!! we told ebay ofcourse but i dont think anythign came of it ever, this was about 6 months ago...

Stock as a rock the other not
i reakon these shots show how sexy the flares, spoilers and rims make zeds look, and i think i know which one would be more fun to drive! although having a stock one would be nice so you know you can hack up the other one as much as you want as if you ever do want an orginal one its sitting there! i think its time for me to order one of the rear spoilers...

Z is getting a face lift
i like it, i'm planning on having my engine bay black with a few polished/chrome bit here and there, and the sanding back of "nissan" mix's it up nicely. stupid question but did you remove it to paint it? the only thing i think could be easily improved is to paint the rusty browney reddy copper bits of the carbs (velocity stacks?) black, although i'm thinking there must be a reason why you haven't?

Do all 240's have side indicators???

Cause of dim headlight
just before i upgraded my headlights one of them went rather dim for a few days until it got the the stage where it just looked like it was a parker light! so it made me hurry up my installation of better lights! but i'm assuming it went dim because it just needed replacing and not any other reason as it still had the full (well as much as it gets with stock wiring) voltage to it. my suggestion is go for xenons, you wont regret it, but it is in another price bracket...

yep i need new springs! + the bad bad times are when i have a passenger in the car! it isn't very hard to make them tilt up a few degrees and over long distances its enough to put it into peoples eyes, i can easily make the lights go up and blind people by accelerating hard hehe wiring was very easy, just worked out which wire was for the low beams and then connected that straight to the bmw lights, so this is the perfect headlight wiring relay upgrade hehe they've set me back about AU$700, and have the remaining parts of the bmw lights just sitting here waiting for someone to buy. i bumped into someone yesterday who said his mate needed them so hopefully that goes through coz then they would of only cost me $500ish. wouldn't petrol weigh more than water? either way i'm talking about atleast 40litres of difference hehe

looking for custom lights
oh sorry i forgot to say what they are off, they're r33 4 door series 2 rear lights, i'd never noticed/seen them until i saw them for sale, as i'd always thought the 4 door skylines had those other style of lights. people have said the back of my car is going to look like a 180sx type x (what would be the later 90's 240sx's in america), but yeah they are pretty similar to r32 lights, except they stick out instead of going in and the indicator light isn't just a rectangle and it also houses the reverse light so i dont have to worry about where to put that

looking for custom lights
the only lights i can think of that are that sort of size with the indicators and stuff in the middle would be ferrari ones off like a 355, although they stick out also...but you could make them flush at one stage i was thinking of going for r33 skyline lights and then putting leds around the top corner of the light panel for indicators like those mazeratis have, but ended up coming across these skyline lights and am slowly making a panel to fit them. the biggest pain was making them skinny enough to fit in, here's a photoshop of what my lights should end up looking like, although i'm thinking 240z lights with leds in them would be pretty cool instead, although i'd like to be different, but then being different is mayb just like being like every other ricey car hehe

e46 BMW Xenon projector HID headlights
thanks, here's two more and then i think thats enough, atleast until i finish them off i'm very happy with how they've turned out, i had them perfectally set up but then i filled up with petrol and the extra weight made them point up to high hehe. i was walking across at some lights the other day and there was a lexus convertible thing that had the lights and they were pointing way to high, so i wonder what happens with that...

Styling.....Porsche Cayman, 350Z & the 240Z...your thoughts?
that lambo is dead sexy, and really looks like a modern facelift of the orginal, and has the same sort of overhangs as a zed. i see more of a zed in this lexas than in that porsche though (but i'm yet to see one in person)

oh hehe, wasn't sure if i'd already linked to this pic or not, its still a night time photo though... its not fully finished yet, still need to fill that hole at the top to stop the light going straight through. i'm wanting to put an indicator up there, tried putting vx commodore side indicators up there (pulled off my mums car) facing upwards but they are to long, so after looking at cars i'm stopped next to at lights i think i might try either 2002 wrx's or mazda 3's, but i dont really want to risk buying them and them not fitting, mayb i'll use gaffa tape as eyelids for now the blue is from the standoffs i used to help secure it, i was going to paint them black but i dont really care to much now

i wouldn't say the zeds stock high beams are as bright as any cars normal beams, yet alone xenon lights. when i got my car i didn't know how to turn on or off highbeams (had to ring p/o to find out, i did think it may of been the right hand stick but it felt like it was going to break hehe and didn't want to do that) so it was stuck on highbeams, so i dont know if the p/o just used to drive around with them on all the time of what, but no one flashed me to say my lights were to bright hehe. the car also came with some 550watt hella driving lights which i'd have to say these are brighter than too (if i get them working again i'll put up some pics to see if this is true or not, the relay for them currently isn't working and dont have time to look into it atm and dont really care as i dont need them anymore!) from what i've read xenon hi beams aren't actully brighter, like the bi-xenon lights just remove the cutoff, so the light can go everywhere. there's some pics of my car in daylight in my gallery hehe, but it looks nicer in the dark :S here's one in atleast some light

yeah it does give it a nice new look, mine are only low beams, then have driving lights for highbeams. some bmw's have bi-xenon lights where when they flash their highbeams the normal light gets used, but if they push the stick forward or watever it removes the metal peice that cuts off half the light, so i think that would be a good thing to try to do they really weren't that much work to install at all, just took awhile to work out how best to do it. the only metal work that was needed was cutting up some brakets to mount the ballasts and the metal holder that is at the back of the 260z lights had to be cut to let the globe stick out of it. i'll take some photos of the other side when its being put together- e46 BMW Xenon projector HID headlights
As we all know the stock Zed lights aren't bright enough at all, i initially bought some h4 reflectors off ebay and was going to upgrade the wiring and run some of those "xenon lookalike" bulbs or just high wattage ones, and eventually putting in a HID conversion kit, but after looking at my mates cars with all of the above i realised it wasn't really worth the effort. i was impressed by igor's (007max on hybridz) retrofitting of 5 series projectors and lexus is300 ballasts into some 7" reflectors so i set out to getting some real HID's and a good quality projector lense for myself, either wanting a matching pair off a bmw or honda accord euros, and ended up with some off an e46 3 series, so now need to sell all the bits i dont need! i eventually made one side fit and did the wiring (they are only 35w so the stock wiring works fine) after getting up the nerves to do so and here are the results, the comparison to the stock lights is unbelievable, which is what i wanted now to fix it up and do the other side...- Dash with 10.4" touchscreen
yeah its sad i know, luckily it isn't up there for long as i just click to go into the music part...but at some stage i'll change it to a nice Z in there, or if i find a nice nissan skin i'll use it!- reflections
