  1. Thanks everybody for the kind words and idea of helping me out financially. Very considerate and compassionate. However, the bills are in the thousands and the Z going to a new home will take the stress out of an already extremely stressful situation. I've excepted the fact it's going to a new home. I think the new owner is a member here that has never posted. Maybe he will now. I'm meeting with him this afternoon to turn over the keys. It'll be sad, for sure, but its what has to be done. Just as a side note, if you have pets, you really should look into pet medical insurance. It's not terribly expensive...and could keep your Z in your driveway. Thanks again! This community of Z lovers has been very important to me over the last three years.
  2. Thank you very much. My dog is ill and requires extensive diagnostics. I hope she finds a home that enjoys her as much as I have. I really hate to see her go. I'm also going to be sad not coming around here as much as usual. It really has become an integral part of my day to come visit this site and see what's happening while doing a little research.

I have to store my car outside and had to purchase a car cover. In my quest to find the best, I ended up purchasing a California Car Cover. I went with the superweave option. They are very expensive, but do custom covers for our earliest of vehicles. Not wanting to spend $300 on this item, I found one on ebay for a similiar dimensioned vehicle for $75. I think it was for a mercedes 300E....or something like that. The side mirrors are wrong and it has a pocket for a cell phone antennae...but besides that, it is a perfect fit. It is amazing, because of the way the water reactes to the fabric and its treatment. The water instantly beads and runs off. Also, if your car is caught in the rain you can use the cover to dry the car really quickly. Good luck
  12. I really needed that laugh this evening!

    Fantastic Thanks for the photos!
  19. I definately agree with using the synchrometer. It comes with a rubber piece that allows the tool to fit snuggly into the chamber and you can let go of the tool to make your adjustments. Works well at low and high idle. It's a little tight on the rear carb, but fits fine. The price on that link might be daunting. I paid a couple years ago, I think, $35 for a new unit off ebay.
  20. Indeed your car does look great! Nice job!!!!

  22. It seems as though he was trying to be helpful. Sometimes the date can go unseen, even though the intent was good. AND, maybe the starter of the thread still needs this information. Also, it doesn't seem as though he has a question, so you can rest a little easier tonight without straining anything vital.
  23. Sometimes when I start my car the brakes are really really firm. I generally only drive the car in five to ten mile increments. At times the brakes will stay firm the whole drive and sometimes they will get softer. The softer brakes are what I would call normal brakes for my vehicle. I have a newer, within the year booster, high quality brake fluid, SS lines, and what I think are good hoses and valve(?) that leads to the manifold. I tested the vacuum at the manifold not too long ago and it was within range. I can't remember exactly, but it was somewhere in the mid twenties. It was a cheap harbor freight tester though. Is this a normal thing that can happen every once in a while? The only brake problem that I have, is when I brake hard the car pulls to the left. I need to rebuild my calipers soon. On a whole, my car stops quite nicely and is easy to lock up the brakes and modulate b/c the pedal has a nice feel to it. Thanks ---Jonathan

If you're patient you can find some really nice used ones on ebay. Just make sure to ask the seller if the switch is nice and loose. I ordered one on ebay that the switch was sticky and it turned out to be a bent spring on the interior. I think I paid ten dollars for my second one and the white plastic exterior wasn't yellowed, the chrome trim was nice, and the action of the switch was perfect. If you want a brand new one, I think they run around $38.
