If you're patient you can find some really nice used ones on ebay. Just make sure to ask the seller if the switch is nice and loose. I ordered one on ebay that the switch was sticky and it turned out to be a bent spring on the interior. I think I paid ten dollars for my second one and the white plastic exterior wasn't yellowed, the chrome trim was nice, and the action of the switch was perfect. If you want a brand new one, I think they run around $38.
  2. I think it's an ignition amplifier.
  3. Thanks for the great shots and angles. There were a lot of beautiful cars that I'd never seen before.

I found this while wasting some time on ebay motors. It is a kit car that kind of resembles a Z's lines. Certainly is unique. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1965-Jamaican-Sportscar-Great-Cond-RARE-early-Z-look_W0QQitemZ230037039956QQihZ013QQcategoryZ7251QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

  6. The pics look great in your gallery. Thanks for documenting this for us. I think once I get a garage I will probably try the same.

Nice find! I wonder what the sunroof is like from the inside? Have fun

Very nice, that must feel great.
  9. I think mine came out of a 72? I think a 72 or 73 would work...not sure about the 260 on?
  10. No, I don't think it has. The moustache bar and crosslink where the arms attach are both curved towards the rear about an 1-1.5 inch. You could do it if you had those two pieces and a longer driveshaft.
  11. They look great. Your Z looks like such a beast.

That is really funny. That is really sad. I think that lady is headed for a nervous breakdown.
  13. Definately a chip of the ol' block, Will!

  15. Maybe since he's in England they had the 260 for more than one year?

Zach, I disconnected the wires when I removed the ballist resistor completely since the new coils have an internal resistor. I took the two wires that were connected to the resistor and put them together on a male/male spade connector. In the end, they are connected...just not touching. I remember reading about how my tach might or might not work when I was researching this upgrade a couple years ago. I always read conflicting reports of one guys working and the next guys not. One had to upgrade to a 280 tach while the others left their 240 in place. I didn't know if mine was going to work until it did from what I had read.My wife is out of town with my camera, so I can't take a pic at the moment. It has been a couple of years, but I'm pretty sure I followed the directions in the pic I posted. If it's not running by Thursday morning-ish and you want me to send you some detailed pics of how I wired everything, I would be more than happy to do so. Good luck, jonathan

I didn't realize he had the MSD setup. However, atleast with my setup, the tach works fine following the diagram I posted. Hopefully, he can see what the connections are labeled as...which was my intention in the first place. As far as your car firing but not starting, I had the same problem when I did this upgrade and it turned out that I had the two wires for the removed ballister resistor tied together. I put them, not touching, onto a male/male spade connector and the car fired right up. A shot in the dark, but that's what stumped me.

what do your spark plugs look like? Are they really black, tan, or white? Have you adjusted the fuel mixture on the underside of the carb?
