  1. I don't know about asking price, but you really do have a beautiful car. I imagine you'll regret it soon after you see it drive away. Think about selling it as you drive it around town and see how the idea sits then. I do know what you mean about creature comforts. Mine is a daily driver that is hard to deal with here in Savannah with the temperature being in the mid nineties with no a/c. However, IMHO, the pros far outway the cons. Good luck!
  2. Thanks for the quick reply. I solved it. I remember reading somewhere, that I should reverse my mount insulator. When I measure it, it was like a quater inch...which wasn't far enough to move my crossmember into alignment. So, I held my old one in reverse up to the installed one and it was inch difference. Turned it around and YESSSSS it all fits like a dream! I wrestled with that damn thing for two hours. Sometimes you just have to stand back, relax, and think. Thanks again!
  3. Hey all, I am in the process of moving my diff back into the later corrected position. The problem I'm having is that the front crossmember will not line up. I have the curved rear tranverse(?) mount and the later moustache bar. Am I supposed to be using a later mount insulator? I have the 1970-1971 model. Am I supposed to turn it around? There is a very minimal difference if I do. The other option is just to pry it and jack it into place???? Help!
  4. Thanks for the bump. Good reading over morning coffee. That Z, and the other cars(valiant) looks pretty darn good for such little cash and a lot of elbow grease. I might do a test piece here in the next couple of months!
  5. I rode a bike for a couple of years because of economic reasons. It was incredibly fun and fast. However, it didn't stop someone from pulling out in front of me and putting me in the hospital either. Everyone I know that rides a bike for transportation, other than the occasional pleasure trip, has ended up with something broken or died. EMTs call motorcycles, donorcycles! Some things you have to learn on your own. I wouldn't listen to anybody at the time. I'm not against motorcycles, I just don't think b/c of gas prices that they are a good alternative.
  6. Thanks for the write-up. Looks great!!
  7. Is it me, or does the first picture look like the gas door is perfectly round?
  8. I have seen this style look good on eighties buicks and oldsmobiles. I think it would look thin and tacky on a Z. Also, the center blade thingys are ugly.
  9. I wonder how many people have actually backed their carbs up a bit and sacrificed power to get a little more mpg. I would rather have the power and pay a little more.
  10. Series I master vac decal would be awesome. Depending on cost, I might take two.
  11. bad timing for sure

  14. Very nice. Those stingers are always so sexy. My buddy just bought a 79' that is hard to take my eyes off of. It's also nice you have the option of cruising with the top down. Have fun!
  15. I have the same rims and paid $400 extra when I bought the car to have them included. I can hardly tell in the pics, but it looks like you have the correct enkei caps to boot. They are very very hard to find and if you have a good complete set...I would say sell them for $450. Mine are fourteens, are these the same? Supposedly the fifteen inchers are a lot more coveted and therefore would be more money? Certainly not for less than $400 if they are indeed the enkei 92's. That is not including the tires.
  16. I was referring more to the casting mark similarities of potentially the early or late head. My engine is an ATK rebuild on an L26. I have read that the lettering similiar to my "E88" have been known to be both early and late. If I do have an later head, and the ebay in fact was an early, that means they are around three years difference and used the same cast...right?
  17. Just thought I would revive this a little since I found an interesting photo. I don't know how many casts were used in the casting of the heads, but I thought it interesting that the dimples and everything are identicle to my E88 as this pictures I yanked off a recent ebay ad. The guy selling it didn't have a pic of the underneath so I could'nt see if it was notched or not, but he said it was original to the 72' he pulled it off of??? I'm not going to be pulling my head anytime soon, hopefully, and I guess that is the only true way to tell if it's early or late...anyhow, I thought the similarities were neat.

  20. after a couple minutes of thought, I have to agree with the majority that the reverse stripes would be a tad too much. However, for me the decision was close, I think either way you go the proposed theme will look great. if that helps any......

  22. Alright, done deal. I went ahead and made the purchase. The order is coming from Brazil and will be shipped Tuesday. The seller states that with customs delays, supposedly up to four days, it should take ten to fourteen days. I'll pm everybody individually and give my info. These are going to be great little additions to our cars!!
  23. Sounds good. 2 left
  24. I think I'm going to do two sets for myself as well. Who knows what the future holds. I might end up owning another Z down the road. I guess that leaves 3 sets then.

I think the car looks great. Not my taste, but a lot of neat work has been done. I really want to do a mural, as well, on the underside of my hood. I wonder how many Z owner's have done this?
