hey guys, maybe you have seen one of my posts but i am new to this forum. i have just bought a competition spec 260z. getting it dyno tuned soon, will be interesting to see what power it has as it has... high cams, triple 45mm webers, flat top pistons, ported polished and blueprinted l28 (2.8l) with 2.6 head (10.4 compression???) high intensity(???) spark. this thing is a fuel guzler, it doesnt like to rev less than 2500 because of the cams and the 4.4 rear diff. according to my dad (who has beendriving it) it chews through about as much fuel atm (its a bit rich down low cause its made to rev high being a comp motor) as he gets through in his '93 3l tt toyota supra. its basically set the odometer to zero, and re-fill at 150 miles, ~250k's, (when racing) to make sure you dont run out of fuel cause the gauge doesnt work. Tom.
  2. hi guys, i am new so just aa hello to everyone out there. i am 16 as of about 1 week ago and i have jsut purchased with my dad a competition spec datto 260, which i am yet to drive on an open road because the power scares me. anyway in my opinion i think what 1 brave 6 and datto-zed, drivers need not only to be taught but trained. it is this exact philoshophy that my parents have implied that i am getting about 1hr training per month at barbagallo raceway (perth) by the wascc preseident and that i am to complete driver training and defensive driving courses before i get my p plates. i feel that it is mostly bravado, peer presure, over confidence and not concentrating that is getting people killed and it is no coincidence that i only have a 2 seater car. Tom.
  3. Hi Guys, I am new to this forum and my name is Tom Whitfield. My dad and I have recently just purchased a highly modified competition spec English Datsun 260z, and we are having some troubles with it. When the engine reaches about 4000 RPM a vibration is experienced from the engine. The engine is an L28 and has racing cams, triple Weber carburettors, high spark (???) spark plugs, has been recently bored, polished and blueprinted and has flat top pistons and an L26 head. The previous owner has told us that he had had a lot of trouble with the harmonic balancer but since buying a solid gold BMW harmonic balancer the problem seemed to be fixed. Anyway i was wondering if any of you guys have had this problem and might know what it is. Anyhelp in this matter or any tips for anything to look out for would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Tom.
