hi everyone, the headlights on my car are really dull even on high beem and the are very direction (dont suplly any light out side ways). they are the H4/5 (??) lights but i wanted to know how to get them to be brighter? it is obviously a wireing issue but i have not a clue were to start. i'm not worried about having to chop wires i just want to know how i might be able to fix it. Cheers, Tom.
  2. hi everyone, its good to see that this project hasnt been forgotten. any ideas on the sort of prices we might be looking at for a full kit? Tom.
  3. Cheers San Maru , the motor, like the rest of the car is a compromise. the motor has all the best stuff according to the datto engine builder, so i suppose it wouldn't take much to make it an all-out race motor. rev limit is set at 6500 for engine life. Tom.
  4. i dont plan on doing any more work it all seems good to me, the power is about right and the tourque is good. i dont know what the peaks are thw tuner's dyno doesnt do a computer read out so when i get a run on a differant dyno i'll let you know. Tom.
  5. sounds wierd but yes you do use sandpaper to sand aluminium and then polish it. here are some pics of my standard 27 year old 260Z mags. http://image22.webshots.com/23/0/30/3/221903003UmLNCa_ph.jpg These each took a very long time but as you can see the end result was very worth the effort, and it worked out cheaper and better than getting someone to do them, you just need the time. BTW: that old looking wheel was after they had been acid washed. Tom.
  6. BTW: the car's rev limit is set to 6500RPM and that is what it was left at for the tuning do maybe more power would be experianced by moving this to say 7000RPM? i'm not going to but the car does lag till about 4000RPM and then the motor hauls REAL hard till red line when the fuel cut stops acceleration. Tom.
  7. hmm interesting, thing is it is supposed to be a full-out race motor. that's what it's design purpose was for, the whole car for that matter. i dunno what you guys expected but i was told 200hp (i assume that means at the flywheel) was what to expect from other people in perth (australia) who have the same setup as this. i am quite happy and some of the figures i see from the us site's i do believe to be unrealistic. i dont know how to get any more power from it but let me know and i can find out if the car has had it done yet or not. Cheers, Tom.

:: they think they're all high-and-mighty with their latest spec jap imports. Tom.
  9. holding it back? i thought 235 at the flywheel was a fairly good figure and the guy at the tuning shop said he loved how strong the motor was and he's been working on thiese things his whole life... anyway, the whole engine has been ported, polished and blue printed, so i'd say the works has been done on the head. Tom.

yeah its great. going to be out at the track as soon as possible to see what its like to race now. i think the first trip is down to collie with the "all fours and rotaries car club" for a free for all track day on the 16th april. can't wait. Tom.
  11. well to dig up an old thread (i couldnt resist showing off) and to get back to the issue that this thread was started for i got my car tuned the other day. the guy's dyno doesnt do print-outs but the car has 180 RWHP. l28 tripple side-draft 45 webers flat tops HUGE cam (70 degrees i think??) l26 head extractors 2 1/4" exhaust 10.something compression Tom.

HI everyone, not been on the forums for a while (been on a road trip across oz with the family Pics Here and busy with school (year 12 calculus) ) anyways the zeds been in at the weber specialist getting a tune. guy did a dyno run, 160 rwhp (210 at the flywheel) he had to replace some parts in order to get rid of the very annoying flat-spot. anyway to cut a long story short, 2 weeks later he's finished, the car runs A LOT smoother than it used to, flat-spot is gone, and it now has 180 RWHP (235 at the flywheel). i thought the car flew before but it tuns SO MUCH better now. just my story and i though i'd share it with you, Tom.
  13. hey dont forget me, i'm in perth. there arent many perthies on here but there are a lot of perth z owners (the register has about 80). Tom.

i dont know a whole lot but i thought that turbo motors had lower compression so that they wouldnt detonate with the extra pressure being pumped in from the turbo. therefore i would say that you should leave the compression as it is, maybe up the boost from the turbo. my dad has a supra tt and when the turbo piping came off once it had about as much power as a 1.5 ton astra, indicating it has low compression but the turbo's supply pressure that provides the extra pressure that creates the extra power. his car has about an 8:1 compression and runs about 16-19 puonds boost so i suppose the compression ratio you make the motor would depend on the amount of boost you are running. therefore in answer to your question i would suggest that maybe you increase the boost supllied by the turbo's and fiddle with the bolt on stuff instead of major engine work. dont take only my advice as i said i'm not an ultimate turbo guru but this is just my 2 cents. Tom.
  15. alot of car forums got hacked over the weekend. they (hackers) were specifically targeting performance car forums. Tom.

what hapened? the links down. Tom.
  17. really the 240 should have beaten the 260. it was 200kg lighter and had about 20 more hp than the 260. Tom.
  18. i'd love to go but i'm off until the 2nd of feb, so i prob wont be able to make it, so i'll give my expression of interest and apologies in one hit. Tom.
