260Z for Sale
yeah, that's the one - black Z w/ mr2 seats. You can see the snail in the upper left hand corner with masking tape on it. I'm looking at about 350 crank hp or so, with more when the motor needs to be rebuilt in a couple of years. The mazda block as you see it in that pic weighs around 200 lbs + 100lbs for the transmission. Stock Z block by itself is about 500, if memory serves I'm not sure if I'm keeping the steelie spare: you should've asked me about 2 months ago becuase I threw one out Ask me when my car's running (2 months tops), because I don't know if I'll have room for a spare. And if I can't carry it in the car, it's useless, and it's yours

260Z for Sale
Hey Carl, I stand corrected. Had his location said " Toowomba, AU" I would've understood the location, and converted AU dollars to US to realize that he's asking around 6000 USD for the car. I'm also aware that AU had 260Z until 78, and they never got fuel injected models 280z model like US until the ZX line up. Now, I made an assumption, and so have you. Congrads, pot, you are now calling the kettle black. Ask me again if I know Z cars.

Parts for sale
Radiator in good shape, came out of an automatic 280z, modified to go into a 240z. This isn't a stock unit, but a copper replacement, and it's probably under 2 years old. There's a dent in the bottom cooler for the transmission, but I ran it for over a year problem (and leak) free with a 160& t-stat. The dent does not affect the cooling flow whatsoever because my car (240z) is a manual. The temperature never went over 170. The shroud is a 2 piece shroud out of plastic, a bit worn but in good shape. I don't need these since I'm going electric and camaro radiator. They're taking up space in my garage, so they need to go. Word of advice, it will hang lower than the stock 240z radiator, so watch it when you pull up to a curb. The radiator looked practically new when I pulled it at the junkyard out of a 280z, DavyZ can vouch for it. Comes with new cap $45 for radiator and $25 for shroud. $60 for both. Local pickup only, please. I'm in Fremont, Ca 94536 What you see is what you get, some bolts have slight pitting. (edelbrock muffler not included) make an offer for this pile of poo or it goes in the trash. I won't do it for cost of shipping because that would involve me having to do extra work such as boxing it and shipping it out. It's easier to dump it in the trash. Hitachi AC pump offerred by dealers as an option for Z cars. Comes with adapter plate to bolt it to the block, in very good shape. Previous owner pulled it out when it was functional because the car was being converted to an autocrosser. Local pickup only, it's too heavy/impractical to ship. -$70 obo. Raybestos clutch slave cylinder with new rubber line. My CS blew out a year ago, I replaced it and the line with new units. In October I pulled the engine, so this thing doesn't even have 1000 miles on it. Paid $34 for CS new, $11 for the line. Sell both for $30 shipped. if interested, please email me at alex@datsunracing.com Thanks, -alex

Noise when turning
do your wheels stay turned when you finish the turn, or even out? if they stay turned, and don't return back unless you force them to, you may have a shot strut bearing

Boy am I bummed out...terrible dyno results
Because in the states, we have a kit designed to swap a smallblock 350 into a 240z. $300 for the kit, $150 for a camaro radiator, $100 for motor mounts, $250 for custom drive shaft, and about $2000 for a carbed sbc 350 w/ a world class t5, throw in another $200 for clutch. Oh, and $100 for an electric fuel pump. What's the RB swap cost? (please include cost of mounts, oilpan with rear pickup instead of front, IC, engine management system, etc) So, that's 3100 for a complete swap to a 350. Of course, a 350 can be had even cheaper than that, 2k was just a gross estimate with a good carb. I know someone who got a 275hp rated LT1 with a t56 tranny with ecu and harness for 1400 bucks at the wrecker, just had to pull it himself. Oh, and we don't get rb motors as easily as you do in australia

Original Rebuild from Nissan
IMO, a Z car is not a true 'rare collectable' yet, because I can easily find them at junkyards. That car will be worth that price in about 15 years. Until then, I'd rather spend 34k on a different car that is new, has a warranty, etc. Or a heavily modify my Z

Not any in stock, and she says they're probably going to take them off the price list.

240z Euro Tails
Testing out waters here. Used 240z euro tails made by Kyoto Japan, part numbers shown in one of the pics, labeled L and R respectively. Taillights are of pretty good shape, I buffed up the plastic and cleaned them up a bit. Neither MSA nor Classic Datsun carry these anymore due to lack of availability (read: none) and datsunrestore.com wants almost 900 for a brand new oem pair in box. Now for the bad stuff. There's a small blemish on the top portion of the left taillight, shown in last picture, it's about 1/2" long at most, with some 400, 600, 800, and then 1000-1200 grit sandpaper and patience that can go away in about 20 minutes. Overall they're good, just keep in mind that they're 30 years old. The left taillight in top pic looks faded, but it's not - just the way lighting is reflecting at an angle: it's same quality as the one on the right. If necessary, I can provide close ups and detail on request. So, if you're interested please make me a reasonable offer. aux@highrpm.org

R32 R200 diff center -> 260Z R200?
I don't think I would bother with a VLSD. Might as well look for a turbo z31 rear end from 88-89 with a mechanical clutch lsd

Ready to go coil-overs?
I'm not aware of any vendors selling shortened tubes. Reason for that is that there are no new tubes being manufactured (haven't for years) and NOS - new old stock - tubes are too expensive for a coilover maker to buy, cut, and weld.

T/C Rod Failure & PU Bushings
quite the opposite, actually. the polyurethane bushings cause LESS deflection, so the TC rod doesn't travel as easily as needed and the forces act opposite the tensile strength, so it winds up snapping. I think ideally one wants to run the delrin TC kit MSA sells for 30 bucks with a PU bushing in the back, or rubber bushing front, PU bushing in the back -alex f

88-89 R200 Lsd
take a 12mm or 14 (depending which cover you get) socket and unbolt the rear cover. If you see this: It's a limited slip

Oversteer/Understeer???
in stock form, the Z is set up to understeer through the corner, as most cars are. This is easily remedied with a thicker rear sway or stiffer springs. to the guy running l28et and 4.3 gears: you may not like that gearing very much because you'll run out of gear before you reach full boost!

WTB '71 Radiator fan shroud
I've got a used shroud for sale. Worked well for me for 2 years. This was mounted to a 280z radiator, but I don't see why it wouldn't work on a 240z radiator. Email me at aux@highrpm.org with an offer.
