What do you all think about this 240z
"nearly rust free"? I wonder if that is a full dash cap, seems like with the floor in that kind of shape, the dash would have started to show signs of wear and tear...

Yeah I bought mine right before I left Houston to go to DC for an internship and It's been at my parent's house and all I hear is how my dad is driving it and his friends are driving it etc etc...When I bought it It had REALLY old tires on it so I couldn't really drive it much...I got the title transfer papers recorded the DAY i left...so watch out...He'll be all over it.

Crackhead
no rust? what's up with the rear hatch seal then? Also when did the engine catch fire? (that or an oil gasket blew and coated the engine bay)...they really did a lot to stop over spray into the engine bay area...which is rusty..I'm guessing maaco?

SeaFoam treatment... VIDEO and instructions! Lots of smoke...
Did the smoke stop after the treatment (i.e. new gas, new oil, etc)? or was it just the seafoam stuff being partially burned in the engine or what not...i guess I am just kinda skeptical that anything that produces that is a symbol of progress, but i am unfamiliar with the product...

Datsun 260Z (basically an engine)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7917373586&category=33615 Claims engine/carbs work well, "turn key" with working 5 speed, rear end -but says may throw in the whole car since he is scrapping it so if anyone in california wants a 260 with a bunch of stuff missing for parts or the engine it's going for $100...

Side Stripe Sticker Kit for 240z
Look at the photo you first posted and the MSA stripe. They are definitely not the same... The MSA has that white box around the 240Z and doesn't say datsun at the front fender..if that is an issue for you.

Doors/locking mechanisms
on my '73 240, Neither of my lock buttons will push down when the door is shut (or open for that matter) but I can get the driver's side door to lock with the key. I can also get the passenger's side lock to do the same, but if you pull up on the door handle after it is locked, the button pops up and the door unlocks. Anybody ever encounter this? The passenger's side door latch mechanism is also screwy...I guess it doesn't "reset" itself or whatever when you open it, because you have to manually flip the latch back or else the door will not latch when it is closed...I'm guessing the two may be related, but maybe not. Any thoughts?

Air cleaner
The filter element hasn't been replaced in at least 6 years because the onlything the guy did was get it repainted by a guy who supposedly does lots of restoration/paint work on classic cars...the job was OK but the guy didn't prep the door panel and the paint is bubbling up with rust underneath now in one little spot smaller than a dime...so i will probably re do the paint job again. THe interior had virtually no rust under the original carpet, which was great..just a few thin surface area around the doors. The guy i bought it from hadn't done any other work on it because he was saving up for a v8 to put in it and then decided to put his money into his other car and get rid of this one...

Air cleaner
This is a picture of my engine in my 73 240Z that I recently bought. It runs great, and when I get to start really working on it I'm gonna clean it up etc. Anyway, notice the air cleaner...anybody have any idea what is? The engine isn't the original from this car...it came from another 240, but the guy i bought it from wasn't sure which year...anyway I want the stock air intake/cleaner...
