Need bracket for factory cruise control in my 71
My Series one had this setup and it was connected. Like 240znz I disconnected it. The cable got a slight bent in it causing the accelerator to jam on - result panic and quick thinking - getting my foot under the accelerator and pulling it off the floor. A stop at the next garage to disconnect the bugger and that was they way it stayed.

FIA calipers, should i buy?
I have had 2 sets of these - still have one today. I am running vented rotors with mine. Here is what I did. Split the caliper and you notice that there is an O-ring between the two halfs. One half of the caliper is flat the other has a machined out to hold the O-ring. I then had a machine shop make up spacers to go between the halfs with the same machine out O-ring facings. Then I purchased some longer bolts to hold it all together. So I now have FIA 4 pots on my 260zed hubs with 300zx non-turbo 4 stud rotors with a spacer for the rotors and the between the calipers. And yes the capiler are a bolt up. Hope this helps

Now I don't feel so bad
Most of the Zed here in NZ have the clear lenses - they usually have orange/amber in half of the housing but the lense is clear.

What is a "LZ22S"? Need a set of pistons from this Nissan!
ZSaint you were asking about the "LZ22S" here is a link to info about the LZ engines that were produced by Nissan for racing, not sure if that is what engine you are talking about as Nissan did create the L Series, Z Series and the LZ Series (race only I believe) LZ Twin CAMS Also see this link for a list of factory engines produced by Nissan/Datsun/Prince does not include special heads like the LZ twin cam or the LY six cylinder cross-flow heads Nissan/Datsun/Prince Engines

My New Project
Offset is how much the wheel has the centre line offset. The offset helps set the backspace (a common US term). A 7" rim with a 0 offset would have approx 4" of back space (7" is measured bead to bead so a 7" rim is more like 8" outside to outside). I would say that your fronts will have a 0 or - offset with the rears running a 0 offset going my the look.

You Have Got To See This!!!

Thinking about buying a 240k GT
Guys that know about the 240k GT - I am thinking of purchasing a 240K GT to go with my Z (don't like Z with 2+2 config but like the look of the 240k). So when I am looking at cars are there any things that will help me find a good model - ie they rust here, make sure it has this part and it is not damaged etc. What are parts like to get? ie tie rods, body parts, (other than part cars) regards Mike

How Old?
I'm in the 30's club - only had one Zed older than me (good old HS30-00016 - sold and now in Australia). Got my first Z at 22, had a 240Z race car by mid 20's, retired from racing by the end of 20's - mortgages will do that to a man - stop you from having fun with $$.

Tire Size?
I found this while looking for vintage tires for a mate http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/productPage.php?productID=713&categoryFilename=radial.php This states that a 175TR14 (not quite a 175R14 but might be the same aspect ratio) is 634 in dia and 172 wide. So using "Doc's 280" formula and working backwards you get (working in mm so changed formula a little) (section width X aspect ratio X 2) + wheel diameter(in inches)x25.4 = diameter ((diameter - wheel diametre (in inches)x25.4)/2)/section width = aspect ratio ((634-14x25.4)/2/175 = 0.795 so the 175TR14 is equal to a 175/80/14 which from what I have read in other forums is correct. I believe the reason Nissan change from the 175R14 to the 195/70/14 as both have the same rolling dia of approx 630 or 24.8 inches Hope this helps

New Minilite/Wantanabe style rim
Thought I might share this with you. While looking for old school style mags today I noticed that AmericanRacing wheels have released a few new rims that are old school design - good for us. The do the Wantanbe style in custom offset and stud pattern. Also might be work asking if the will do the Series A69 in our stud pattern. Anyway have a look at the new style sections see URL below http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/wheels.asp?currentPage=1§ion=N http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/wheels.asp?currentPage=2§ion=N Anyway also attached image of the two styles I like. Sizing of the Ansen 15x8 only or 17x7 or 17x8, Silverstone 15" from 4" to 14". Images are Ansen then Silverstone Cheers

Another offset question
On most cars it is not a good idea to shift the centre line. However Nissan/Datsun has/had a tendency to over engineer. There are a number of Zcars over the years that have run large negative offsets with no issues. In the 70's a lot of racing Zed had large10" rims or more in the rear (some of the US guys can tell you how big the IMSA car had but I think 12" or more) with stock spring perches/sizing. A Zed can handle upto 4.5" BS with stock springs. So if they ran a 10" rim with 4.5" BS (remember rim measured size and edge to edge are different, approx 1" different) this would shift the centre line out 1" from stock. I have read that on a RWD car that has a north/south front engine setup can usually run up to a maximum of 20% of the rim width in + or - offset without causing too much of an issue if the bearing are engineered correctly. So in theory you could therefore run a 10" rim with 3.5" BS on a Zed if the flare is big enough to handle it. Like you, I am no engineer I am only going by the research I have done.
