In Pennsylvania according to PENNDOT's website any car older than 1975 or 30 years is not subject to an emmissions test, therefore my '73 does not have to be emissions tested. It was surprising that a neighboring state as close as New Jersey required it.

I got a Hobart 125 MIG for Christmas. You are right, welding is fun stuff, even if you are just dicking around, creating stuff out of metal is enjoyable. It has not yet, but with all the stuff I plan to fix on my Z with it is will most definately pay for itself

I had no idea this poll would have this large of a turnout. Thank you all, my questions of the age spread in the club is now clearly answered. Despite the large turnout of votes and comments , we're still can't come close to touching the boobs thread.

Well answering Carl's statement from early when he said "How could you buy without driving?" or something to that effect. When I was younger maybe about 11 I saw a datsun that was parked somewhere in someones driveway. I thought it was so awesome, and knew I would have to own one when I got my liscense. Well the dream never died and here I am owning a datsun. I guess you could say with me, I fell in love with the car and it's design. What made everyone else decide to buy there datsuns?

Knowing that I am only 16, I was curious how old most of you Z enthusiasts are. It made me wonder how many of you own Z's without living in the Z "era" *No offense to anyone unwilling to submit age
  7. I agree, it sure does look like a Z dash

Your Z looks spectacular, I wish mine would have been in that good condition when I bought it
  9. I had a fantastic christmas, almost all my gifts were related to restore my Z car Got an air compressor with some cheap tools to use it w/ and even better I got a MIG welder!
  10. Zeus, I am going through the same thing you are right now, I have been readig all that I can on the topic on these boards. By the looks of the drivers side it definately looks repairable, by the photos it appears to be fairly strong, from my opinion all it will need is to have the rust taken care off, looks feasible On the other note the passenger side is getting the swiss cheese look, I am sorry, good luck with the replacement
  11. Z Enthusiasts, I have 3 books for sale/trade: 1975 Datsun 280Z Service Manual - Fair Condition; the cover has average wear and tear on it, clear tape was used on boarder and tear -to repair and preserve; other than cover, information pages are in excellent condition, no spills or anything like that on them. Begging to be used. Glenn's Datsun Tune-Up and Repair Guide: Models 1968 -1976 : 510,610,710-Station Wagons and Fastbacks - 521 and 620 Pickups - Book is in great condition, corners are not even curled yet. There are a few black smudges, only cosmetic blemishes. Information pages also in great condition. Clymer Datsun 1600 and 2000 Models Through 1970 - Book in good condition. A few black smudges here and there. Otherwise a good book. I am looking to trade for a 1973 240Z Factory Service Manual. Anyone who has one and wants one of these books please contact me and we can work something out. I am looking to build a repertoire of 240Z books so any other 240Z books would also be considered for trade. If would like to make me an offer, ask questions, or negotiate please e-mail me at Schevets7@hotmail.com. Thanks All! Andy Schevets

  14. Like you, I was very recently all new to this Z stuff. You will find here that everybody is looking to help, any questions you have people jump to help you. About the idle, like Gav said adjust the idle to lower should not adjust the richness as there are two seperate adjusments for the fuel/air mixutre and the idle speed

i do not mean to insult you by this, not in the least. But I have purchased things at Harbor Freight before, and don't get me wrong they have great prices and some of their products are good products, although I have also bought products that turn out to be much less then they appear. It's happened to me and I know it has happened to friends. Don't get me wrong, I cannot avoid goin to Harbor Freight, they have a good thing goin there. Just something to ponder about

MSA will always have any of the parts that you need, not necessarily shown on their website, but they have almost every and any part. Victoria British also have many a parts. Although with both of those large selections comes a price

but in that case if you are going to go through the trouble with all that super adhesive that gums it up anyways, why not just drill so then it is cleanable like 26th said. "Finish the design that Datsun started" -MSA Website
