Blast Cabinet Question
I was curious about something. I was in HF today looking at some media blasting units, and do most of you use siphon fed ones with your cabinets or pressurized. My take was the siphon fed ones were garbage, and a 20 pound pressurized unti was only $45, what do you guys all have?

pulling engine/trans together
Yea, even after you drain the oil out of the tranny, take a rag and rubberband it over the end of the transmission where the shaft goes in, because as your lifting it out and the tranny is put at an angle, more fluid seeps out of the end, creating something else to clean up

Nissan "Z" Adverstising Campaign - Who's got photos?
Ok, so I was in LA on vacation last week. Needless to say it was a fantastic vacation, sure beats the weather in PA. Anyways, right off the highway, near a nissan corporate building I was this awesome billboard. It was an advertisement for the Z series. This one had a picture of a 280ZX on it and the quote said "35 years of bitchin". I had to take a photo of it, because it was great to see that kind of stuff on a billboard A few days later I was driving on the same highway, but I noticed the 280ZX was gone, "no" i think to my self, they can't take down the Z billboard, and then I noticied it was a 300Z billboard that said "35 years of rad", complimented by a picture of a 300Z. So I realized that nissan was running an add rotation on that billboard, starting at the 240Z, which somebody took a picture of a while back, and now it is almost to the 350Z. The purpose of this thread is to see if I can gather photos of each car aand slogan as it ran its time in the limelight on the bill board. So I'm trying to see if we can gather up photos of each car and its slogan, a complete series of the billboards *It is kind of hard to take good photos while moving at 70 mph

Questions On My First Z
Hey sheldon, and welcome to the club, isn't z ownership wonderful? Anyways first you were wondering about exhaust sounds. If you have non-dialup internet, I highly suggest you view the video on this thread MSA Photos Thread . It is a video capturing the sounds of many Z cars at the MSA show, see the #44 post for the video. I know many people loved Zrush's purr, it is the second car on the video. For the center console, Motorsport Auto, or Victoria British will definately carry them. Although there are many other places that you might be able to find them for a cheaper price, possibly ebay, or other Z salvage websites. But those 2 will definately carry what you're looking for. Aobut the bumper, yes you can do something about it. I have a '73,the first year the Z bumpers got ugly, so I picked up a bumper from a 72, and then the mounting brackets will have to be changed. Im not sure about how to do it with a 280Z as Im not too familiar with them, it is possible though, and many have done it. Hope I was of some help

Anyone have a CAD drawing of an S30?
Oo, we have AutoCad and AccuCad. I can check tomorrow to see if it saves in IGES format. Although by the way you are speaking it does not sound like it will, I am not familiar with the IGES format, I can look into it though. Your job appears to be very interesting About those image sizes - I tried to save the regular sized ones to my desktop and zoom in and it didn't work. But when I clicked to make it larger it worked like you said

Anyone have a CAD drawing of an S30?
I may be able to do a CAD drawing for you. Ill need a side view of the car with visible dimensions on it, the one Mat73 has dimensions that are unclear. Or i guess I could also use a side view of the car period, but it would be very time consuming that way. Something that would also be very neat, would be to draw an S30 up in something like SolidWorks. I think making an "exact" CAD drawing might be teadious, but definately do-able

Front suspension rebuild
jmanz, I was just on your website, and your prices are reasonable. When I get to that point in my restoration I will probably be contacting you about plating and what not. Thanks for the input though. **Sorry Ken, I did not mean to hijack your thread, but this was all pertinant to suspension rebuilding

Front suspension rebuild
I think my compressor is about 8 cfm. I know its not the best, but I think it should get the job done, as you stated. I don't know if I can afford to pay out somebody else to do this for me, plus there is such a greater sense of accomplishment. I also have a paint job to pay for soon, so I'm trying to be as smart with my money as I can, with sacrificing the least possible. Im looking to do similar work to ken

Front suspension rebuild
Well I have an air compressor, so I thought about getting the equiptment to do bead blasting myself. In the long run it looked like it would be a strong investment. I don't know if you've seen where I am with my car,but I'll be starting frame up, so I think buying stuff for a bead blaster would be worth my while. I haven't started the suspension yet though.

Front suspension rebuild
Hey, I was thinking about hot tanking, but i wasn't sure about how much it would cost. Maybe you wouldn't mind sharing how much you paid for your suspension to be hot tanked?

Im surprised nobody has said this yet, but you will be able to find a wealth of information pertaining to motor swaps on www.hybridz.org. They are all about modding up the Z over there. Good luck with your project!

Most Popular '70 - '73 Paint Colors
For my car I would love to go with an old Z color, but I really wanted a yellow and none of the original yellow colors were really doing it for me. Until just recently I saw a 350Z in a new yellow color. It completely struck my fancy. I have been turning this color thing over in my mind for a long while, but I think I just made my decision. I agree with all the others, you should definately choose a color only to please yourself, it will be the most rewarding in the end

What the Z SHOULD look like....
A bunch of months ago, I saw that car at the Philadelphia Auto Show, and man was it a stunning sight. Anyways, when I posted a photo I had taken of it in the gallery, I remember Zrush saying that is what the 350Z should have looked like.
