  1. i have the same problem... just bought an English Wheel to put the crown and bends in the valance to match the original contours. you can do the same thing with a shot bag and hammer and hammer and dollies, but will take a lot longer. also going to have to thin the edges that lap the quarter panels to match the much thinner original metal guage. joel

Hi, Just had the ebay rails installed last fall. They are longer and heavier gauge than the stock 240 rails. Well worth the price. Joel
  3. Hi, Sounds like you're looking at a closed off carb preheater circuit. Most Brirish sports cars and some American cars from the sixties used this warm water circuit to prevent carb icing from the venturi effect of pulling possibly humid air into the cold carb body. Some owners block them off. I'm in the process of putting mine back into use to help cold weather warmup performance. joel

Have had a Lincoln SP-135 MIG for 2years. Just got a Miller Maxstar STH TIG. World of difference! Much finer control with the TIG, perfect for doing sheet metal patches and such.
  5. well, push comes to shove, I can drill/tap for NPT and add a valve, not unlike my '64 Land Rover's heater shutoff valve...God Save the Queen. joel
  6. Understood, but here in Colorado I've noticed that ever since disconnecting the circuit, cold performance is not very good. Possibly due to true carb icing. Alsp, the various British makes that had preheaters didn't have a thermovalve (that I can find reference to). I'll keep trying to find an original -- there has to be one somewhere! thanx, joel
  7. That's the problem I've had, and of course the part is NLA from Nissan. I was able to get the broken part out using Kroil and a screw extractor. Has anyone tried to find a suitable tubing fitting? As far as I can tell it's a 3/8" JPT fitting (which should be the same as a 3/8" BPT fitting), but I can't find a U.S. supplier for them. Haven't had time to see if there is similar fitting from a British manifold setup, since they also used a preheater. joel

Hi, I'm looking for the heater hose fitting that threads into the rear carb manifold. It's the inlet for the carb preheater line, near the back of the head/block on a '72 Z. thanx! joel
