FYI - 240Z Dashboards
Right their with you JLPurcell. I'm wanting to buy but I'd like to see the texture myself before placing the order. maybe can show us next to the gauges I'd like to see how well the lines go around the gauges. Also are we getting replicated rivets for the VIN number, or does anyone know ware to get ones that match the original rivets.

Antenna Rebuild / Restore
For the mast, the tip and how the cord attaches on top are the only different things. The tip will fit the reproduction mast. The upper rubber and chrome cap seem hard to find in good condition. Beyond my discription I posted on replacing the cord and rebuilding the motor Sent from my [device_name] using http://Classic Zcar Club mobile

Gearing down with blue smoke and back firing
From what you stated your burning oil and you are leaning out. Check for a gas smell from the oil cap and dip stick. If you smell gas you have some blow by and you might want to fix it. Old cars can burn oil for many reasons, the biggest problem would be the lean conditions. Also with the car running look for head, and exhaust leaks. Next Check your carbs are balanced and the valves are adjusted properly. Also pull the plugs and see if one or more look different than the others. You might not be lean overall and be lean on one cylinder. If that look a good try a leak down test. I can keep going but that is wait to start. FYI - 240Z Dashboards
Guys give them some time it is a lot of work to rebuild these dashes. I looked into it many years a go. I could not get the math to work and all the parts to lineup. Headless to say almost every 240 to 280Z would love a remanufactured dash. Sent from my [device_name] using http://Classic Zcar Club mobile

Dash cracks
the problem is when they made the dashes it was a presure vacume pull of the skin then the frame conected to the back of the the low presure mold stopped into place then the foam polymer was injected, then cooled. This dash was so complicated it's a hard for modern tech and materials to do it Sent from my ASUS_Z016D using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Dash cracks
I got estimates on foam vynle molding from several shops and costs to make the molds needed to remold the dashes. I also calculated a lot of the ancillary costs of the process. I was around $35,000 for the molds, and about 2,000 per dash based on anticipated volume to receive. At that point I had about 80% of costs minus any other hidden costs. This did not include time to do this. The final cost I need to charge to make it all happen was close to $5,000 per dash to remold and with a 3 month turn around because I need a month for the work and 100 to do a reminding. To do it in less time the price was pushing into 5 digits. Sent from my ASUS_Z016D using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Dash cracks
Ya a least the Australian company does not advertise remolding and new foam. The problem was the dash was too advance for the materials of the time. That was another reason I was looking into making molds and redoing them replacing all the foam Sent from my ASUS_Z016D using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Dash cracks
It's a matter of what you want. The datsun Z dash is complicated and has a lot of fine details that just dashes does not preserve. Also don't like them stating the redo foam and surface of the dash, they instead fill in the cracks sand the surfaces smooth, then vacuume mold the covering. This takes out the ridge lines around the gauges, and rounds all the clean line the dash had. On top of the they never replace the work out material in the dash so it will crack soon than later. Some they went from Z dashes to just dashes they don't even match the pattern. I was looking what it would take to reuse the frame and make the mold. Then is remold all the foam with new. But it was too costly Sent from my ASUS_Z016D using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Dash cracks
Cracks are bad and the work from just dashs does not meet my standards. I'd care for it and leave it. Maybe in future we can get them remolded Sent from my ASUS_Z016D using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Bluetooth/Class D Amplifier
ON the single speaker your attaching the radio and the amp to, what is stopping back feed from the amp to the stereo thru the wire? You might want to add a switch either one that uses the current or a manual switch.

Anyone know where to find those 70's mag wheels ?
They were just a popular aftermarket wheel. Now not so common was the 4 kindly shaped hole ones.

Anyone know where to find those 70's mag wheels ?
My first Z came with those rims. They have a problem once the mag corrodes with those rims it causes the lugs to back out. Their are several aftermarket rim manufactures that can make you a rim just like it. However I would go to a 15" it will be cheaper overall once you add tires and it gives you a lot more tire options than the 14". 15" tires make it match with Honda and many other manufactures tire sizes. The one I'm restoring has American Racing rims that I plan to get a not DOT tire from dunlop. That is only one of two tires on the market in original size. otherwise you need to go to a 285 that is a minivan tire. Good luck it looks like a great project car

S30 ONLY Hawaiian Shirt
Well if you want a true Hawaiian shirt you need Japanese silk, and sewn with a Japanese technique to hide almost all the stitching especially around the collar. Originally the shirts were made from old kimonos. while surfer shirts were normally made out of cotton ukatas (sp?) and European stitch techniques. The fabric is the hard part any good Taylor that can hand blind stitch the collar can make the shirt. You need to look for a Japanese silk print company or look in the Carolinas most of the American textile industry has moved. The other idea I have is a raw denim jacket, this is all the rage and most are using 70's patterns, especially with the driving/racing style jackets. Have some racing patches put on with a vintage Datsun logo on the front and the 240z Z on the back. the part of the world your in Bob Sharp Racing logos would be very appropriate. If going west coast BRE logos. If he takes care of the jacket raw denim will last 5-10 years. Personally I like the strait collar look
