  1. I'm with geezer on this one, also you might want to try a new filter and flush the fuel lines as much as posable before buying a new pump.
  2. To answer the question should I just pull the motor out. How many miles on the rebuild, if it has been a while you could freshen up the bottom end? Do you think you might need to replace piston rings? I would not run the engine as much as possible. If you start to get water in the oil you might be taking that engine out to replace all the bearings.
  3. Great I'll take the help, even if i can get two correct resonators it would greatly help.
  4. It's the same as for old truck windshield, their is a lot of different tricks. The rope method is the most popular method.
  5. You want the style on the right with a shaft that fits inside the lug hole. Other wise you will wreck the rim. Make sure you get one with a washer, to minamize wheel damage when removing the lugs. You can see the washer marks on the wheel. Summit racing could help you out, they may even have your hub cap for the rims. You would be supprised how much stuff the have
  6. It is a 280Z their are a lot of them for sale in the US in great or good shape for under $10,000. I'd hate to see you louse interest in the Z car. You have a decent parts car also. I don't think the import cost would be that bad, I'd look into it. If it is, I see cars go up for sale up north also you might just need look longer to find what you want.
  7. Your right. Not to say it maybe blocked up, but it is a lot of work you don't want to do unless it is the only thing left. The heater core is one of the hardest things to get to, in a Z. I still think this isn't hard for a do-it-your-selfer, just takes time
  8. I wish I knew any manufactures that make the hardware that looks just like the original Z hardware. I would consider making kits to sell. However I might be wrong, but I herd Nissan made the fasteners from other forums. Does anyone know otherwise this could be a great piece of information? I'm one of those that likes to use the old parts, but if I can help it not wires and fasteners, age is not friendly to these parts. With fasteners lousing tension, stretch and they develop miro-cracks they just start to brake, or work out. Then old wires like to burn up from time to time.
  9. I'm ordering Spirit Datsun's in VA kit he quoted me $125 he is also locating a good amount of new fasteners and this and thats. I went to order stuff some time a go and the website was gone, but the company is not. I'd agree without pulling out the manual it looks to be close to aloud tolerances. Except the front toe. That is not hard to fix. We should also ask are you using stock rims, or have you gone up a size? What tire demention are you using? On my last Z the camber was OK with the stock tire size. When I went to a one inch larger rim it made a larger flat surface, and I started to get a slight uneven wear. To fix that I installed the camber kit. The wear was livable if I rotated the tires but they were directional tires. So the like a 185/70R14 you should be OK
  11. If your not leaking since it is a pain to get to the box, see if you can get it to work well first. From the floor heat doors you can actually blast air and clean the dust out of the box and the core. From the engine compartment you can flush water down the heater tubes, and see if you can brake up the garbage inside the core. The nice thing is these cores are pretty thickly walled so they can take a lot.

I got the orange one from Sam's they also had it in yellow like above. I might get one to paint to match what my car will be when restored; gold.
  13. I have two carbon copy receipts where they used the card, and the original owners credit card, so I won't post it.
  14. Good to know that this is not uncommon. I had a slight give in the peddal, I think I be ending up doing the same thing. If I find one for a spare, you better bet I'll take it apart and when I put it together I'll use some anti-seize on that. Their is a hole in the wall from the broken wrench snapping, glad it didn't go at the car or me.
  15. OK I'm restoring my car, got a good rebuild kit for the master cylinder. Got to removing the valve cap screws and no luck, I broke a 29mm box end wrench. Before I put that amount of force on the part and it would not budge, I tried in a vice, penetrating oil, then a little heat, then I decided to put the part in a tub of just penetrating oil for one week, then heat again till it starting to get red put some dry ice on the valve cap and turned, no luck. tried wrench and hitting the wrench with a hammer for one hour, then i tried a little heat and then some force, wrench brakes. all parts are not cracked, does anyone have an idea?
  16. I have mine too I just wish I had the window sticker. Make sure you keep these on some of the older cars these go as collector items, and to have it with the original car can add value at resale. Even at Barret Jackson they will point out if the car has this or not.

When I lived in Denver I'd go to Rocket Seals, if they didn't have it they normally could tell me who without giving me bad advice, and one time they stated I don't know ware you can get that, not bad out of 100 visits or so. SO what I'd do is look for a good seal dealer, for the firewall Bonsai Motor works got me all those grommets.

OK I notice the floor pans look OK, but the rest of the car I think your going to find some large holes. If the car do to rust gets to be a big project I don't think any of us would think badly of parting this one out. Just let us know so we can be your customers.
  19. Another car someone didn't understand that it is hard to go back to a regular street car after it was a racer. I like the car, I hope someone converts it back to a racer. I also like the jet fuel only sticker.

I had no problems with my 72 fixing the same type of problem

Gary, I'd take the seat out and take a look at the bottom. I'm going to assume that you have the seat with the lever and not the one with the knob since you have a 72. On old spring seats two things usually cause excessive sag beside ware, the clips between the springs broke or separated, or the springs are cutting into the foam. If the spring clips need replacement this is easy they you can buy them from an upholstery store make your own out of some stiff wire, or hog rings. Using some pliers, and wirer cutters this is a easy fix and you can access the springs from below. If the springs are cutting into the foam, this is from the foam material starting to fall apart. I have seen people slip heavy or something thick between the springs and the foam and it works. However if this is the case I'd get new foam. The covers are attached with hog-rings, and if carefully removing these rings you can use the cover again (I've even reused the rings). If your worried about doing it right have an automotive upholstery shop do it if you bring the foam pad and just the seat to them this would be a quick job for them taking them about 15 minutes to do.
  22. Krown has two stores near Nigeria Falls. They told me one time they are looking for people to franchise in the USA I was interested, then as I got into it they stated I would be to far to franchise with. If your going to do it, just do it. They seem worried venturing 8 hours from the boarder.
  23. When I put a single magnaflow on my first Z it set off car alarms but wasn't loud they sound great do you have pictures of the underside?
  24. Mike I hope you try to protect yours it might be rough. I work in forestry industry and I found something like that I'd have it at the office to show off then we would work to preserve the piece. Great finds
  25. I think your right about the BRE patch, if you read their website about using BRE painted on your car you need to contact them for permission. Their nice guys and are easy to work with and will help you out more than they need to, but they are a business and need to make some type of revenue to survive. The patches look very nice how much do you plan to sell them for I'm looking to get a new fall jacket, I'm looking at getting a retro racing jacket.
