I finally did it. My baby is running! It has taken too long, but I have done it. I like many others put the distributor driveshaft on one thread off, but now I am in good shape. This car is running on triple DCOE 45s, and it idles very poorly. It will idle very very roughly at around 550 RPM. I usually hold the throttle down alittle bit to keep it alive. A few other things I have noticed is that even though I have not driven the car, some oil drips out of the rear diff. Also, I have not seen a very good reading for oil pressure. The reading is too low and I wonder if is correct. Lastly, there is a slow oil leak where the front cover meets the block. Is there any easy fix for this? In all I am very pleased, and honestly I couldn't have done it with out this site. Thanks!
  16. Now days, I think the choke is a damn good system! I remember when my dad had the z at the nissan dealer, and they called him because the guys there couldn't get it started! Most people don't even know about the choke. Not that this a a good anti-theft device, but it might save a car on occassion. I never leave the car out of my sight for long when I go out. I usually just drive it somewhere far, and then back again.

The lenses could be darker as a result of the exhaust pipe being directly below it. I know on my car, the drivers side one is not darker, but the chromed plastic is falling off, and the overrider is rusty there too. My guess is the exhaust.

This exact thing happened to me about a month ago. I wasn't paying attention and stupidly put the thing in backwards. I felt really dumb too. There was a good deal of white smoke coming from the starter as well. I was scarred as hell, but I when I hooked it up the next day, the car started. I guess I got lucky. I figured that the smoke was from dust over the years, burning on a heated wire. Maybe the battery is no good now.

I also think that the past few issues have been lacking. I loved the issues with articles like the 280z restoration, and the pristine english 240z. I loved the stuff about Scrabs, 510s, and some of the projects, but I dont care about a huge comparison for G35 and 350z exhausts. I mean they are all the same. I will continue my subscription though, I still like all the z cars (350z the least). I understand why the G35 is now in the mag, but is the title not SportZ? US240z, do you have any earlier issues?
  23. Well, this thread is sort of old, but I got the orange car out today. I had a big scare by accidentally hooking up the new battery to the wrong terminals. I was scarred as hell when I saw tons of white smoke coming up from the starter. I feel really dumb about it, but I guess we sometimes learn the hard way. Anyway the car started just fine after I fixed the battery. The #six cylinder would not fire, so I put in a new plug after checking everything else. The car runs AWESOME!!! I am feeling great There were some troubles last year with what seemed like fuel starvation issues, but now she is running like a charm! Hope others are equally as successful.
  24. I want to know what transmission this really is and what car it origionaly came from, not just the thread size. Once I find the correct thread size, I want to buy a shift knob that fits.
