the car is fuel injected and from what i heard tonite coming home it seemed like afterfire from the exhaust

Hey guys. This problem just started about 2 days ago where when my engine is warm if i stop at a light or stopsign my car will idle rougher than normal than when i accelerate softly my car wil backfire until it gets to about 2000 rpm and it will just accelerate normally. I havent done anything except put gas in my car and wash it for the last month so i dont see anything that would have made this start happening. Btw my car is a basically stick 75 280Z. One more thing is that if i drive it to school and it is warm and sunny all day, i could be in school for 8 hours and come out and it will start right up.

the thing that i found that's wierd in the morning is that once you start it, you could turn it off 30 secs later and walk away for a few minutes and when you come back and start it it starts fine, even though the engine is still cold

Hey everybody Over the last couple of months my 75 280Z has gotten harder to start weather the engine is cold or warm. When it is cold it seems to be cranking for longer than usual and then sputters for a few seconds then begins to run normally, this will only happen when i hold the gas pedal down. If i dont give it any gas it will just sputter and die. Sometimes also when the car is warm, i will start it and it will idle at about 400 rpm and i have to rev it up for about 10 seconds and let off the gas and it will begin to idle normally. Ive ran injector cleaner through 2 or 3 times, it was recently tuned up, I pulled a plug and it looks to be running clean, and i put in a new fuel filter a few months ago. So i have no clue what's going on. If anyone has any suggestions they are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jason

hey guys, There were 2 things that I was wondering. First off my clock stopped working a couple of days ago, it had been slow for a while, but it now stopped working completely. It is one of the calendar clocks, and i was wondering if anyone fixed them or if i would be able to get a new one anywhere. Also my drivers side seat belt buckle is not holding that well anymore, and i was wondering if they could be replaced and if anyone had them since i couldnt find them in MSA. Thanks, Jason

Hey guys, I included a pic of the original key for my car. Ive seen keys like mine and ive seen square ones can someone tell me the difference.

Sorry forgot to post what he actually told me to do <hr> Install a 12v 'normally-open' mini relay, connecting one side of the relay's 'pull-in' coil (push-on connector) to the existing 'start' wire from the ignition switch (push-on terminal on starter). The other side of the pull-in coil goes straight to earth. There's a set of contacts in the relay with two external push-on connectors. Run a wire from the main battery feed on the starter motor to one of the contact connectors on the relay. Run another wire from the push-on connector on the starter motor solenoid to the other contact connector on the relay. This should bypass the old wiring system, feeding straight 12v to the starter motor. It puts a MUCH smaller load on the car's wiring and eliminates starting problems caused by voltage drop.

Nacks, I never got a chance to thank you, you saved me from selling my car. If anyone has this problem use what Nacks told me about installing a relay. My car starts with the 1st turn of the key every time now. Jason

Datsun Z's Rule, that key is a copy, but while cleaning the interior of my car yesterday I found the original key I lost 3 years ago under the driver's seat so ive switched keys now. Nightowl, that exterior molding is not painted, it is just brown plastic and i think it is original. Jason

Nightowl, The moldings were that fake wood grain when i got the car, i just always assumed they were original.

Just installed this Grant wheel on my car and im really happy with it. I ordered the kit from MSA and it included the wheel, adapter, and Z horn button. I haven't gotten a chance to clean off the fingerprints and polish it up yet
