Interior rivet alternatives?
Plastic rivets with screw-in pins: Motormite and Dormar are the manufacturer names and supposedly they are availible at Pep Boys, Autozone and others. Local Autozone (and other local parts houses) showed the part number on computer but computer system would not allow ordering. I finally found one place that could order yesterday and they should be in next week but I'm out of town for a week. As soon as I can varify that they fit and how well the work, I'll post info John

Speedometer correction - Possible?
Thanks and thanks for not blessin' me out for not searching. I did search but I don't wear a Speedo and wasn't able to finnd just what I was looking for. Note: "blessin' me out" - Southern phrase for "blessing me out" equivilent to northern "cussin' me out" for "cursing me out. Thanks, John

Speedometer correction - Possible?
I just checked my '71 240Z speedometer against my GPS. It seems to be almost exactly 10% off (reads 60 acutaully doing 66.3). It has been changed to a 5 speed and I don't know about rear end changes or how much change there is in existing tire diameter and original. I can live with it but is there an easy fix? John

I found another manufacturer with lots of options. Question is, do you know the originals diameter, length and head diameter?

Interior rivet alternatives?
I've read several post about the "push pin" original rivits and their problems. Has anyone found an alternative type pin? I want to be able to remove and replace them easier. My Miata has several different kinds. Some, you can pull the pin by it's head. Some smaller ones are a design I really like. They have a philips head that you can screw the pin out. Both of these come in and out on a regular basis when I'm doing mods. I don't know a source or the correct size ( I hate to buy new correct ones just to find out what size) I'm starting from scratch on this interior with new panels and I don't have any of the old stuff. Thanks, John

If you hint hard enough, supply a list (complete with web sites) you can do pretty good (if you've been good.) I was just good enough to get new chrome bullet mirrors to mount on the front fenders. One out of a dozen on the list. Don't guess I was too good. :disappoin

Fender mirror location.
I think I hinted enough (including web addresses for ordering) that I'm getting new bullet mirrors for my '71 240. I want to put them on the fenders as I've seen all over te web but does anybody know exactly where to locate them? I know non-US models had fender mount and I would like to place them as much in the right place as possible. Thanks, John

Console repair: How to patch holes?
I'm restoring an early 71 240Z and have (I think) the correct console, choke plate and change tray. The problem is that it has several screw holes and one 2" slot. Anyone got advice on how to patch/fill these and look good? I'm replacing the rest of the interior plastic and it has a brand new dash so I want it to look good and match.

Is Hagerty Insurance the way to go?
I decided to go the safe route and its' not costing much more. My regular agent that carries all my other vehicles could have gotten the collector car insurance but also offered regular insurance for antique cars based on an agreed value. The only stipulation is to get some verification of the value of the car. He said a book on antique cars or something else to help set the value. Any ideas on where I can get that value substantiated?

Is Hagerty Insurance the way to go?
This is from Grundy's email that came with quote and forms to return with payment: It is agreed and understood that the definition of “Antique Automobile†is deleted and replaced by the following: “Antique Automobile†means: (a) a private passenger automobile ( a land motor vehicle other than a private passenger automobile principally designed for use on a public highway; maintained solely for use in exhibitions, club activities, parades, or other functions of public interest; Furthermore, it is understood that no coverage will apply specifically for use other than exhibition, club activities, parades, or other functions of public interest. Non-covered uses include but are not limited to driving to work, school, errands, general transportation, secondary or back-up transportation, business or commercial purposes. Coverage will not apply if the vehicle is used for racing, rallying or the participation in any speed contest, or time competitive event. From what I'm reading, I'm scared of using Grundy or Hagerty.

Is Hagerty Insurance the way to go?
Mark, Read the attached file to the email they send. It doesn't read that it would be included. It specifically excludes "to run errands." Hate to think getting hit while stopping at Wal-Mart on the way home would give me a problem, Sorry I don't have that email on this computer. John

Is Hagerty Insurance the way to go?
I'm a new owner of a 71 240Z and contacted Grundy and got what looked like a reasonable quote. The question that is bothering me is the attached document stated that only "club events" and "car shows." I want to use the car on weekend trips or going out to eat as well as "events." Ads and TV interviews give the idea only that it can't be driven to work or alternate transportation. How do they really do and are others different? Also aggrivated that their "no year or model restrictions" turned out to exclude my 1999 Miata. John
