After 4 years I have finally got the car done. This weekend was the first time i have actually driven the car in 4 years. Everything on this 240 has been restored. From the ground up. You can check out some of the progress pictures on my website at www.my70z.com. I also have some shots i took today.

Rear end ratios
Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess i am looking at it from a drivablitiy point of view. I am going to run with it for little while and then see if i want to change it over. Thanks Mark

Rear end ratios
It seems as though when driving on the streets at normal speeds I am immediately shifting to 5th to get any speed out of the car. When i hit the feeway, i hit about 70 miles an hour and the RPM is about 3k. I am almost afraid to hit the gas as the car is running so high. There is a ton of torque but no real top end. Here is the breakdown of my car: 2.7 litre Rebello motor with Rebello cam. Fidenza lightened flywheel Nismo racing clutch MSA headers and exhaust. Mallory Unilite ignition. MSA Ignition module 5 speed tran. 3.9 R200 (I believe) 15X7 Konig Rewinds. 225 tires. Tokico Alumina shocks and Tokico springs Poly bushings. It seems as though you are all suggesting swapping out the rear end to a 3.54. I am looking for top end cruising speed. Longer time between shifts...what do i need to change to?

Rear end ratios
I just finally finished restoring my car. I put a R200 rear end with a 5 speed tranny in my 70z. The problem i am noticing that the shifting is very close in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th and by the time I get it into 5th, it seems like has topped out as far as speed. I think the ratio on the rear end is 3.79. I took it up on the freeway and the top speed was very limiting and it seemed like there should of been another gear. Any suggestion on how i can improve upon this. The motor is not stock. Its a fresh rebello rebuild 2.7litre, headers, tripple carbs, electronic ignition, nismo clutch, lightend flywheel. Thanks for any help. Mark

orange s30 search
You can check out my gallery. It has many pictures when it came out of paint. I went with the original 918 but did a single stage Dupont paint. No clear coat. It looks amazing. But you are looking at a $7k paint job. You have to be careful of orange as there arent too many variations of orange that would look good on a car. Good luck Mark

Color Choice
Thanks. No i did not paint the car. I stripped it down myself and delivered the car to the body shop stripped. You can see the photos on my website. I waited a year to get into the body shop of my choice. He is the best in the area and not cheap.

Color Choice
I have always loved the factory orange. When i purchased my 1970 it was painted white, but came from the factory as metalic blue. The car had a ok white paint job but they didnt paint the engine bay to match. In my opinion, if you are going to change the color of the car, you have to do it right and remove the old paint. See my website, www.my70z.com. It shows some transformations of how i changed the color. I am still posting photos. My gallery has some photos of the car in its current color. Like it was said earlier, color is a personal preference....kind of like woman. You are the one that is going to have to live with it (her) :knockedou

Best tire size
Hi I am looking at getting some 15" wheels for my 70. I am either going to go with Rewinds, Panasports or Watanabe. My suspension is not stock. I am sitting on Tokico springs, Illumina Shocks and polyeurothene bushings. What is the maximum tire size i can go with (front and back) without causing any rubbing and without modifying the body? Thanks Mark

I called my dealer and they want $141 if its available....i will keep checking. Thanks for all your help
-
Piecemeal or the whole enchilada?
Go to steeringrack.com they sell replacements for a reasonable price. I put one on my 240z.
-
speedocable
Wow, you found one at a dealer...i didnt think they would stock that. Can i ask what dealer?
-
speedocable
Yes, this was the one that came off the car. Unfortunately, i cant find a replacement.

Drive Shaft
Thanks. I believe using the R200 rear, the shaft is a different size. So you would need to make sure it is going into a R200. Evedently speaking with my buddy, the u-joints on the one i have dont have the clips, they are "broached" in which makes the shaft "non-servicable". If i can get a shaft that can be restored and fit the R200, i will be happy to buy it.
