I am being told that it is "Non-servicable" by the drive shaft shop. Victoria British has 1975-1978 as not replacable in their catalog. This is why i am looking for a replacement shaft

Hi, I have replaced my rear end on my 70 with a R200. I was in the process of restoring the drive shaft i bought for it and found out it was not servicable. Evidently the u-joints cant be replaced. Does anyone know of what year shaft i need to look for that can be serviced of if there is a place to buy aftermarket or custom. If anyone has one for sale, i would be interested. Thanks Mark

i am having trouble replacing my speedo cable for my 1970. I know the speedo started at 20 for 1970, but is there a difference between the 70 and 71 cable. I ordered a new one from VicBritish and the one they sent had different ends. Can someone help me with this? My old one is the one on the inside

Hi guys, I have an original steering wheel from my 1970 (the one with the holes not punched out) and want to restore the wheel. The only problem with it is that is really dirty on the "wood" rim. Does anyone know of a good way to clean it or what to use to bring it to "new" condition. Thanks Mark
  9. Thanks anyway. I really want to get this project finished and fear i might end up selling in as is condition if i cant get it done. I have nearly $30k into this car and would hate to lose it. Besides, i like how it is coming out so far.
  10. Well i am about 80% complete on my 1970z. I have been working on it for about four years and now gotten to a point that i have no time to finish it. All of the paint, body, glass and trim is done. The engine was completely rebuilt by Rebello Racing and is installed in the car. The carbs, headers, radiator, transmision clutch are all in the car. Basically i need someone that knows these cars to finish the car. Mostly what is needed is suspension and brakes, interior, electrical hookup, drive shaft, fuel lines and tank installed, and some other minor finish work. I have 95% of the parts needed and a garage to work out of. The person i am looking for should be available to work on the car at least three full days a week and know what they are doing. I live in Lafayette, CA which is where the car is stored. For the right person this shouldnt take more than a month and i am willing to pay $5000 cash. See my gallery to see the work done so far. (Its the orange one) If you know anyone or place that could finish the car, please email me at markmagnus@comcast.net.
  11. I just recently installed my tripple Delorto carbs into my restoration projection. I need to purchase the hoses that connect them all together and run a fuel rail to the pump. Can anyone tell me what size hoses, ends, joints work the best for this set up. See picture below

I went to their website. do you know which product in particular it is that is for storing...i could tell.

Thanks for the reply. Right now there are no fluids in the engine what so ever. My concern was internal rust developing. I was thinking there was some specific product out there that was made for this type of situation that would prevent any internal rusting or corrosion...does anyone know of such a product?

I have had my 240Z in my garage now for going on 3 years. It hasnt been driven because it is undergoing a full restoration. The motor was completely stripped down, hot tanked and rebuilt by Rebello nearly 3 years ago. Up until 18 months ago, it just sat on an engine stand. It now sits in the car but still has not had any fluids since the rebuild. Even though the car is always garaged and i live in Northern California, i am concerned about the possiblility of damage. Should i be concerned? Is there something i should be doing while then engine is sitting idle? Thanks Mark

What about the smaller cable coming off of the positive cable? Any pix?

I am in the process of running my wiring harness and battery leads. Does anyone have a clear photo of where the positive and negative cable run to. I have looked thru the repair manuals but its not clear. I know this is dumb question but i dont want to screw it up. :stupid:

Thanks for all the great info guys. I will go ahead with the MSA stud bolts. I ordered the Felpro gasket to see how it compares to the one that came with the header. Thanks Mark
  19. mmagnus replied to mmagnus's post in a topic in Open Discussions
I just called MSA. They do carry the stud kit that comes with the nuts and they also carry the washer kit for the header maniforld. $24 for both with shipping. Now i just need to find a felpro gasket and sealant and i am good to go! Thanks
  20. mmagnus replied to mmagnus's post in a topic in Open Discussions
The headers and manifold are going on a fresh rebuilt motor (see my gallery) so i am not worried about the surface being clean. I would like to however find some new studs and bolts. Do you know where you can buy them? I am missing the studs for the maniforld and the studs for the headers are from the original motor so they should be replaced. Thanks Mark

I am installing MSA 6-1 header and also my tripple carb set up. The headers came with a gasket, but looks pretty cheap. Has anyone used this gasket or can someone recommend where to buy a better one. Thanks Mark

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I better check the clearance on the pipe near the tranny....great, more stuff to worry about.
  23. mmagnus replied to mmagnus's post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
So, from what i am gathering here is that the headers and intake manifold get installed at the same time using the same studs...is that correct?
  24. mmagnus replied to mmagnus's post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Ed, Thanks for the info. Do you know if MSA sells these washers? IF not, do you know where i can buy them? Where do you buy the felpro gasket from? Thanks Mark

I just put my motor in my 240 yesterday and want to start by putting the headers on now. I have a brand new 6into1 header from MSA. Does anyone know how this thing attaches. It didnt come with hardware and there arn't any holes just "openings" where the studs go thru. Does anyone have any pictures i can refere to . Thanks Mark
