Installed Motor Today
I see the difference now. Thanks for the help. Its kind of a bummer after spending 7 hours on the car including installing and aligning hood, now I have to go back and rent the picker to redo the mounts. Oh well, at least I know the problem. Thanks Mark :classic:

Are the motor mounts different for each side. If so, I can I tell them apart?

Installed Motor Today
AFTER 18 MONTHS OF RESTO WORK I FINALLY PUT THE MOTOR IN THE CAR TODAY. I BOLTED UP THE ALUMINUM FLYWHEEL, INSTALLED THE NISMO CLUTCH AND THEN CONECTED THE 5 SPEED AND INSTALLED INTO MY 70 Z. AFTER BOLTING EVERYTHING DOWN, I NOTICED THAT THE TRANNY WAS SHIFTED TO FAR LEFT (IF YOU WERE SITTING IN THE CAR) AND THE SHIFTER WONT CLEAR THE OPENING IN THE TUNNEL. I AM USING THE STOCK TRANNY MOUNT WITH A 5 SPEED I THINK IS FROM A 78 280Z. IF THE HOLES ON THE MOTOR MOUNTS LINE UP, AND THE HOLES ON THE TRANSMISSION MOUNT LINE UP, WHY WOULD THE TRANNY BE SITTING WRONG. ANY CLUES. SEE IMAGE BELOW AND CHECK OUT TODAYS GALLERY FOR TODAYS FUN.

Macco.. or a real paint shop??
When deciding on paint, you have to think about what you are going to do with the car and how much money you are willing to spend on the whole project. With my car, paint was very important because I plan to show the car. I found the body shop I wanted to do the work and waited a year to get into the shop. In the meantime I striped the car down to an empty shell. The day before it was ready to go in for paint, I took it over to a sandblaster and had him remove all of the paint ($600 job). The next day it went into the body shop and stayed there for four months. The end result was an amazing paint job! $6000 later, you really can see what you paid for. I own a $75k Mercedes, and a $20k Harley, Neither have a paint job anywhere near as nice as my Z. If I was going to drive this everyday, you can bet I wouldnt spend this much money on paint. Just my opinion. You can check out some of my photos on paint and body at www.my70z.com

Toyota 4 piston caliper brake upgrade
I tried bolting up a pair of Toyota 4x4 calipers to my stock rotors and found there wasnt enough clearance. I would of had to cut back the backing plate to mount them. Do you find the same. mark
