Yes that’s right Not 1 Not 2 But 3 !! Because we got no sponsorship this year we couldn’t go on the Great Escape. We are now selling the datsuns in preparation for something different for 2006. So they are up for sale. One is a rolling wreck with auto Tx was driven into yard 12 months ago but not started since. It has been butchered by previous owner... instruments from later model not properly fitted, carpets better suited to dog kennel seats tatty, painted by hand with 12 inch brush using water based house paint….one rear wish bone rooted… but car generally useful for engine transmission and other parts...perhaps as an anchor for your cuising yacht? you get the picture No 2 was a daily driver up until august 2.8 motor very dark blue paint a bit crazed and cracked in places, bonnet pins (why?) a bit rough in and out but goes very well ,no smoke, no odd noises and comes with spare dismantled 5 speed tranny - with shot main bearing? tx may not all be there it is in ice cream tubs and in buckets in boot.. No 1 is the ex Great Escape 'car' 2800cc motor with head worked a "warm camshaft" no idea specs. Head may have been shaved? Compression boost?? Needs 'lead' in fuel Extractors and 2 or 21/2? inch exhaust system Stock carb ( dumped the triple weber carbs during 1st Escape far far toooo thirsty for us but if you fit your own it makes plenty of noise and smoke and fury as it roars down the road and that’s just the sound of the fuel tank as it empties!!) R200 rear LSD. With reinforced and cross braced mounts Rear brakes returned to stock drums will include the discs brakes as fitted so you can if you want to refit ugly looking things holden callipers 5 stud discs redrilled to fit 4 stud wheels very ugly. Front brakes upgraded to big GMH vented units unknown specs same as rear brakes ugly as Rear wish bones reinforced plate welded over know weak point Front to rear brake bias valve in cabin. Full roll cage bolt in type. has had CAMS approval in past , CAMS booklet with car but not updated? or current? ...the car was not used for real rally I am not sure how certification works for older roll cages Heavy duty rear shocks and springs Big fat front struts with lengthened lower control arms ( for big Neg camber ). Full under motor skidplate in 3mm aluminium. Engine oil drain plug is accessed through specially drilled hole....it was bugger to drop whole plate off to change the oil 4 x rally tyres on 15 inch alloys 2 X 40% tread 2 x 0.5% tread Spare set of wheels same style 15 inch alloys with new new road tyres ( so that is 8 matching alloy wheels ) Wheels are off later nissan Full NSW Rego till mid August 2006. Racing drivers seat Tool box solid mounted in boot 2 x 4 point harnesses ( prob out of date for competition use ) and all mounting points Rear pax seat removed replaced with single bucket seat on LHS Most of the interior has been removed carpet consoles etc...this is a working machine no time for creature comforts Engineers certificate. Want to sell all three as package Can deliver to Western and southern Sydney or Wagga or any where within about 200Klm of Canberra ( centre of the world ) free delivery. Further away will negotiate costs Asking around $3549.99 make an offer Don’t be shy worst I can say is feck orf! Need $$$ for new great escape weapon for 2006 and psychiatrist bills Selected images at Leon

Aint these older cars fun? It may be worth getting cooling system radiator and engine proffessionally "flushed". More $$ hahaha......weep. If old radiators have been left sitting dry for even a short period they can get gunked up internally and not work well. Is the "air shroud" still in place? it is important to have the air actually moving thu the radiaotor so it can carry the heat away - the shroud ensures this happens rather than air spilling out, over and around the radiator.......this is more important at low speeds when fan is pulling air through radiator You were talking about a test run to Yass? or have I missunderstood (again) if you get to yass you are welcome to have radiator out of out spares car it is an auto unit and looks to have been recently reconditioned..well the the paint is shiney I am easily pleased.. When I last drove car late last year from CBR to Mmbatemen it cooled fine and used no water. It is waiting in Murrumbateman just a few ks from Yass...For anyone else 2500$ ( = entytry fee Gret Esacpe) for you .. free. F me! Im a nice bloke. leon
  16. work is crap today and every time I look in here there is more gossip that demands a responns I will look at steering wheel this weekend and report back next week. You can probably score a ride in another car for some "wakko" sections if you beg or pay or give good head. hey buy me a beer or 10 and you can have a wakko ride in our car...if we get there...best not when I drive as I will obviously be half rats after all that beer and stopping for a leak every few minutes really slows you down Yes we must add our own car numbers...find a friendly sign writer and "arrange" ( see how to get a ride above) some cheap numbers one set for each door black, one for top left of windscreen (white is good here) and one for top right corner rear window white or high contrast colour the rear window number is good because as the faster cars overtake they warn you on CB that they are coming past...and on dirt roads where dust and rocks and grass and bits of dead animals makes viz difficult they ask if all clear and safe to overtake...... not that we ever overtook any one...but we were overtaken a lot...an awful lot.... we are car 56... 65 backwards 65 Roses is CF slogan bit obscure dont get all worked up...it is only a car and a bit of foolishness to help a charity Leon
  17. K, it may be cleverer to write off the entry fee and cut your losses for this year. No benifit in using your own $$. If madness over takes you you can try again for 2006 but start earlyier in the $$ hunt...and the car prep...says he only a few weeks out and the car has no wheels If we go again in 2006 ( if we go this year ) I think we will use a boring old Oz 6 a fowlcan or commode door. much easier to get parts for and set up etc etc...boring but simple and perhaps cheaper but I doubt it. 2 more images attached I hope
  18. It was a challange trying to get the image to load using work computer, 'net nanny' at work blocks images and offensive files...and I guess this she thought this was both offensive and an image file. Now that Ive got the process figured I will load some more images...even more offensive I hope. Ive found one team mate (he is out of jail now true but not what you may think ) we droped the broken trailing arms out from bothe the escape car ( see www.thegreatescape.org.au) and the parts supply wreck car. you can just see it in the background..we have had the good arms plated and reinforced and I hope to put them back in this weekend. Of the last 6 weeks I have been home one saturday only makes car prep difficult. Other minor problems include zip - SFA - nix - 'F All' sponsorship to date. Ive had to start 'working' in Fyshwick Friday nights so now expect the money to roll in real fast. Leon

Reserve a seat in front of the TV at 8 pm on Monday 8 August 05 on ABC CH2. leon

K, thanks for thinking of me. I have scored a bonnet scoop type went in f'glass that we will adapt to roof vent. It will be always open unless I can think of a clever way to shut it. I am most interested in getting clean air into car so need to rig up a filter of some sort. More thinking involved. Dont get fixated on roll cage..... leon PS I dont give nobody my mobile number unless for very good reason

Spares to carry? Credit card!!! if your car has special bits consider a spare of that, beyond that just simple stuff wheel nuts assorted other nuts screws etc, cable zip ties , gaffa tape, tie wire, fuses, hoses, hose clips, belts, radiator stop leak good idea. assorted tools any odd tool your car may need, electrical wire, bulbs, pints plugs capacitor. All this is easy small and light, 2 x spare tyres good idea. extra washer capacity good idea many cars run extra washer water hoses jets...It is always nice to see what it is you are about to hit, ot the corner you just missed....... Anything BIG there is a backup truck that will carry it but you cant access it out in mulga till end of day ..stuff like extra spare wheels/tyres tent swag etc. The support crews are very clever and can work out a get you to next stop fix for almost anything. Along they way the locals you meet are usually very helpful . In 2004 one car blew a gbox and by end of day had sourced a replacement from "Fred's back shed" for no cost....apart from no sleep that night doing the swap Many things like fuel filters plugs bulbs can usually be sourced along the way Before start have fresh oil in motor gbox etc, fresh air and oil filters perhaps a spare air filter?? some teams run a double air filter system??? have I mentioned dust I dont like dust... This is not flat our full bore competition driving it is about having fun and raising $$ and awareness for CF and having fun....the biggest problem several 2004 cars had was hangovers medical crew have some drugs but no sympathy ah yes the trip home........always a drag. 2004 we had 3 in car and drove non stop coolangatta to CBr taking turns. Alice to CBR may be a bit harder. Perhaps come back in a looose convoy? with 1 or 2 stops not given that much thought yet. silly flashing lights loud horns water squirters smoke makers exhaust flame throwers all add to the fun....$$$$$$$$ and time leon
