  1. Interestingly enough, I happened to see one of these 'belt buckle' style grilles the other day. While investigating a classified's ad, the seller showed me through his parts collection - apparently he pulled the grille of an oz delivered 240k hed just wrecked. Felt pretty chuffed with himself i might add, as he felt it was a 'far superior' look to that of the standard grille we are all familiar with. I dont think he realised the rarity, but despite this, he wasnt willing to part with it. To the point, then! Its a different mesh, made up of hexagonal shapes, as opposed to trapezoid or square. Tom

...240k on ebay. Appears to be pretty straight and clean, and the seller not so dodgy perhaps... ? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240K-GL-reconditioned-registered-drive-away_W0QQitemZ4643448794QQcategoryZ102220QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The c210 would be EASIER to transfer parts from, as just about averything mechanical is interchangable with the c110 and bolts up. However, the interchangable parts from the r31 would be superior yet harder to transfer. For example, the braking system and the struts (correct me?). My advice is to grab both The c210 sounds like itd be free anyway, and for $100, you cant go wrong with the r31. Tom

I think there would be a market if the shirts were marketed well... The design of that shirt is quite fashionable i reckon - Sure itd be dorky if it were matt black emblazoned with an oversized, poorly detailed ferrari testarossa, with the cars' make and model printed in such obscenely large text so as to notify the public of the wearers poor dress from 100m...But theres a funky 73' skyline in 70's colours, labelled with period text on this shirt - id wear it

Yeah the shirts pretty cool, im impressed. All of a sudden the internet appears to be a very small place....

I have something to ponder over, Last night while driving home, i began to give the car a bit. Nothing out of the ordinary, just enjoying its abilities. The thing that struck me, and that has struck me in this situation on many occasions before, was the power delivery. At night, it appears, when the air is dense, the car feels at least 20-30 hp stronger, is more responsive than at any other time, and pulls like a train from low down right up to 6k rpm or so. Yet, during the day, and generally when ever most of my driving is conducted, the car and its power delivery never feel so sinuous, complete and all-of-a-piece. Is there any way i can emulate this mode of operation - id love for it to run like this consistently So my questions are as follows. Has anyone else experienced a similar phenomenon? Is it just the air density, or other factors? Would a 'cold air' intake make a big difference? It is by no means sluggish during the day, but the difference is enough to make me crave the 'knight rider' style all the time !

Id be interested in a right front quater panel if its in resonable condition. Also rear chrome 'eyebrows' would be nice if theyre not stuffed? Cheers, Tom

Interesting stuff! I was considering a turbo swap at one stage, and possibly keeping my twin SU's. As I learned, however, its not really the go - a single carb is ideal. As you mention though, bruce, the l20a-et isnt such a great motor - doesnt like to rev hard and really isnt all that powerful - i think from factory they were quoted at little more than 150hp - same as an s30 l24! My point is this - what difference would the extra 400cc's of displacement make in a turbo l24 application? Its quite an unspecific question, but i wouldnt have thought there needed to be a great deal of internal mods to bolt a turbo on say - an r30 spec efi l24? In any case, you have to wonder what exactly has been done to the base l20a in turbocharging it. Remember, stock jdm l20a's packed 130hp - identical to our Oz spec l24's. Thus, a turbo is only worth a 20hp gain....torque anyone? Fishy...
  10. Thankyou eric, the pictures are fantastic . Interestingly, it appears that there were two versions of the tomica r30 - the masked and unmasked versions - earlier and later i assume? Oh, and does anyone know the dimensions of the rear boots? The most beefy ive ever come across! Im guessing at least 13 inches wide - What tyre size would that equate to!?! Tom
  11. Does anyone have pictures of this most beastly creation - ive always thought the tomica r30 was the meanest race skyline id ever seen - but something meaner exists?
  12. 2K though - is he dreaming..?
  13. And a metal shift knob to boot !

With the Laurel front fender indicator fittings Jim? And can someone please please please inform me of how it is possible to put a coupe rear light panel on a sedan :dead:! Ive most definitely attempted it, and to me, major panel modifications are needed - maybe thats just the way ??
  15. Lach, i was after the steering column clamshell, as depicted on the previous page of this thread. Thanks Kent, hope to hear from you soon - scratches are fine, as long as the plastic isnt cracked like mine. Peter, ill PM you regarding a clamshell also. Cheers, Tom
  16. Dang. So i guess its peter who i have to query then ?
  17. What happened to your car lach, has it been disposed of? Thanks anyway
  18. Hey, a little off topic, but concerning parts cars - I managed to crack the steering column surround with a gentle nudge - i guess the equation is 30 years of sun + exposure to plastic equals extreme brittleness. Anyway, i was wondering if those who have parts cars could spare one? Cheers, Tom

Bah! Aussie motoring press...Ive always been of the opinion that the c110, in both coupe and sedan forms, is muscular and well proportioned. Maybe im crazy but i cant really see where theyre coming from...Beauty is most definitely in the eye of the beholder.

How on earth could a 240k ever be deemed 'ugly' - its dripping with style! A 120y, however....its become a cult car because of its ugliness. I think for many (uninformed) people the 120y epitomises datsun.
  22. Great stuff, if only my four door looked as good Those details are fantastic, and i especially like the stickers. The only thing that appears a bit off is the cannon "'zorst" - surely a more discrete system would be appropriate? Great job anyhow! Out of interest, have you invested in any c10 models?

I did, and its peculiar that this example is using a 'sedan model' beaver panel, with gtr tail lights. The tail lights are an easy aftermarket upgrade, but i wouldnt say theyre easy to find, or cheap! Perhaps later model c110 coupes, as this appears to be (due to the beaver panel badging), were fitted with the simpler beaver panel - cheaper to manufacture...?
  24. Great find Jim! Yahoo.jp throws up gems time and again - does this include the 6cyl skyline variants, or it is a 4cyl skyline sports option catalogue? On second thoughts im guessing the former as the largest capacity jdm c110 was 2.0. There were no 2.0 four versions...were there?

Goddamn!! That has to be one of the coolest c110 oriented dvd's ive seen! Please please please someone here buy it and make copies - there will no doubt be a massive demand for it !
