Thanks again guys, I took these in to the local Datsun mechanic today and he said at first I had 2 right hand cylinders due to the R stamped on them. But the are mirror images of each other and after some debate between mechanics it seems they are L and R, but one has an inverted R lever. Worst case I re-use the L lever from my old ones. They said they can bend me some hard lines for them also. Now I need to get ball joints, tie rod ends, half shaft u-joints and wheel bearings while the bushings are being changed. This car will be ready any month now....
  2. I just got an email from my dealership guy and he says the part is backorder Japan but still available and the list price is: $1767.24 A little out of my price range when I could try the repairs the rest have been doing for a fraction of the cost.
  3. I have ordered 4 sets of door panels from Nissan here north of Toronto. I paid $424.00(approx) for each set. I recently got a small discount worked out for our Z club members, and I bought a bunch of stuff recently. I'll have to find my receipt if you want prices, but I got a diff mount, a bunch of bolts, brake lines, engine lamp. Let me know if you want prices and specific items.

Thanks Walter, I'm trying to see if the parts are interchangeable. Various sites list the cylinders I have (the new ones) as 70-78. One or two places have 71-72 then 73-78. The 71-72 does have the hole at an angle, the other differences I cant see. The extra parts I have aren't scavenged, they are new cylinders. and at about $200CAD for new ones, I'd really like to use these if they will work.
  5. I cleaned mine off with sandpaper, not to remove the entire old finish, just to get alot of it off and get it ready for stain. I think you would need to stain it then lacquer to get consistent results. I stained mine.

Thanks Carl and Ron. I dont have a box with part number, they were in a bigger box of stuff. Heres a pic. All they say on them is 7/8 and Tockico (theres an 'E2' stamped on one and a "01J" on the other) The red arrow is where the brake line goes in this new cylinder. The black arrow is where it goes on my old one on the car. I cut the hard line and the rubber line as I plan on replacing them both, the hard line that was on there was just kind of made to fit, it does not look like a pre-formed hard line as it was kinda wrapped around everywhere. What does a '73 hard line look like? does it go around the mount for the control arm or up thru that mount?

I pulled off the front and rear suspension this weekend so I can clean it up, send it in to get the bushings changed out, and replace anything that needs it. I have a set of brand new rear wheel cylinders in a box. The ones I have look ALMOST the same as the ones on there. The ones I have have a 'pointed' rubber surround and the line goes into the top. The ones that are on the car the rubber surround is 'rounded' and the lines go in the side. I included some pics. My question is, are these interchangeable? I need to replace one of mine, its all seized up and rusty. If they aren't can I make them work or change some parts from the good one?
  8. I will call my friend at Nissan here tomorrow and ask him to check it for me. I wonder what a new dash goes for!?

I didn't miss it. As all of us with kids know... Mike needs to sleep when he can because as soon as mommy has had enough in the middle of the night she's going to start handing him off to be fed, changed, walked around, etc. Mike also needs sympathy because the wife isn't going to give him any when he complains about being up all last night then having to get up to go to work in the morning. But as long as Mike can pull through for the first little while, it becomes routine and he'll be a pro in no time. Congrats Mike, hang in there and enjoy because they grow up fast!

Or just cut the top stack off and throw some muffler tape over it to cover the hole. Then use a Sharpie to color it black so no one knows. THATS how to make it work.:classic:
  14. I don't think I would get the windshield guys to use POR products on your car. Having used it I can say it's quite a process to get done correctly. If you remove the old glass and you don't find any rust, and everything looks good I would not use POR at all. For POR to be used correctly, it has to bond to bare metal or rusty metal and the surface has to be prepped properly. If your car just has a silver edging you want corrected, it might look better if you just painted that edge area. If you use the POR, you'll have to get them to remove all the paint on the area, prep it with the Metal-Ready, then use POR-15, then the proper Tie-Coat primer (or someone said I think you can topcaot while still tacky?), then you can use your exact match paint. If you do find rust under there, you should address it while you can. This might mean replacing some metal, or removing more paint than your silver border. If that happens is the paint you have an actual match in color? Good luck and let us know what happens.

They are NOT available in white. Only BLACK is available, in intermittent quantities. There is no parts depot in Canada per say, its just any dealership here. People on this thread have called a dealership in Toronto to get prices and availability as well as some dealerships out west. They also do not ship, and most require payment up front to order them and then pick up in person to get them. If you want black ones call any dealership in Canada, if you can't locate one you want let me know and I can call one here for you.
  16. lolz! I was reading this and sipping a beer at the same time... well I just finished cleaning all the beer off my keyboard that shot out my nose.
  17. If you're talking about the rear tail light finishers, the 3 pieces around the lights then why can't you just take them off, sand them down and repaint them the grey color? I'm only assuming all of this because you haven't said what exactly your problem is.

Hey, I love the color and those stripes. That lettering screams 80's!

Is anyone aware of a stamp set that does match the font or is 'close enough'? I like the idea of doing it myself, I'd just like to get pretty close is all...

I'm looking for someone to do mine also. I went to a few locksmiths and key shops and all would do them, but they 'etch' the letters and theres a limited choices of fonts. I don't think it would look right so I've been holding off.
  21. Mine is on a .pdf on my iphone. Its REALLY hard to use, but it's there.

Ahhhhh.. thats a good feeling. Hopefully the rest will be ok also.
  23. Thanks guys. I may need to re-tap. Im going to tackle it this weekend, I have some bolt extractors but I have been reading that left-handed drill bits may be the way to go. I plan to heat the bolt, center punch it then either use the extractor or the drill bit, taking care not to get too close to the nut threads. Im wondering... I looked in the fiche and it sorta shows a cross-section of the area. I assume its hollow inside with a nut welded on to a plate, or right on to the frame part. I also assume over the years the part of the bolt sticking freely up into the frame has rusted. I wonder if it would be easier to spin the bolt INTO the frame, which sounds easier than pulling it out. The bolt would be rolling around in the frame but I could fill that area in with some sort of rustproofing or something to prevent it from rolling around?
  24. Well, now is a great time to get all of that off and start with a fresh shell. You can make sure theres no rust and the repairs have all been done to your liking too. You better hurry because it looks like a big project.
  25. Apparently its not east to find in Canada. There might be a reseller out west from what google says.
