Hope you southern Z'ers are enjoying the weather
Oh yeah...wheels, can't put those 240sx wheels back on. I was thinking 15" Konig Rewind's. Is the spending never going to end!!! I was just going to 'refresh' it at first...but now I'm obsessed with getting it back to mint. I do like the slotted rims, but cant seem to find any in 15". I found that other blue I was looking for..now its down to yours and this other one. Go to KATS gallery, you'll see it. Hes in Japan. I sent him a PM to find out what color it is..but he hasnt replied. If anyone can I.D. that blue..much appreciated. The snow is supposed to melt this week for a few days...Im gonna get to work on it before the cold hits again. Hopefully next winter I can DRIVE the Z down south to enjoy some nice weather!

Hi, You picked the right club to join. The guys here have always been great at helping me out when I ask questions, im pretty new at this too. Do a search in the forums and you will usually find the topics you want have already been addressed at one point. Check the gallery for other guys with your type of Z, and check out what they have done. If you have pics, post them in your gallery, I'd like to see them. Cheers, Zak

Hi and welcome! I just put in new floors and rockers from Zedd Findings. His website is: http://www.datsunzparts.com/index.htm , not the website FUNINMYZ said. His name is Charlie Osbourne, hes very helpful and I have bought lots of stuff from him. Check my photo gallery for pics of the floors and rockers...send me a PM if you want any more pics or info, I'd be glad to help. I have been restoring my '72 for the last year, and the members of this site are very helpful, and usually a search of the forums will get you on topic. Have fun, and post some pics! Zak

Hope you southern Z'ers are enjoying the weather
Here in Toronto Canada area...just shovelled the driveway 2 times in one day. My Z is coming home from the body shop this week...and now its gonna have to sit in the garage till spring. Even with some heaters its just too damn cold in the garage. I will miss her. I guess I'll do some small stuff like detailing some parts, and whatever else I can drag inside to work on. You guys in the southern states have it made...

por-15 fender
I covered a screw hole I didnt see, with 2 coats...and when I tried to use a punch to get thru the POR...no go. I had to use a hammer. This stuff is ROCK hard. If either you have any pics of the stages of your fender restoring...please email them to me, or post them so I can see. Ill check both your galleries right now. Thanks, Zak

Engine compression quesstion
Thanks guys, As I said...This was the first thing I did before I pulled the engine, which was a week after I bought the car, which is the first time I really started learning about this kind of stuff. I am determined to learn as much as I can, and I appreciate all the feedback over the last year. I guess I'll roll the dice and leave the motor as is when it goes back in. All my $$ has gone into new floors and restoring the frame. The shop that is doing the metal work let me come in and work on other parts of it, and I love every minute of being bent under a wheel well with a heat gun 2" from my face while Im scraping off old undercoating, with degreaser running down my sleeves! Is this color close to original?
My mistake..its SUPPOSED to be chrysler blue,..But the can I bought had the wrong cap on it. The color I painted it is GM BLUE. I wanted the closer one..but I think Ill leave it as is now.

Is this color close to original?
Its Duplicolor Engine Enamel - Chrysler Blue. I read on a post here that it was a close match. It does look like what was left of the original paint, but kinda hard to tell from the fading.

por-15 on floors
I was going to ask you! I have the tie-coat primer...i already put it on one fender. Its kinda grey-blue-ish. I dont know wether to topcoat that, ot just put on an undercoating..

por-15 fender
Hey thanks... Did you just leave it black, or did you prime and paint it? Im kinda torn between leaving it black and undercoating it, or priming/painting then undercoating..

Engine compression quesstion
This might be a silly question, and I did search thru the archives for an answer first. When I pulled the engine out of it last year, I did a compression test but Im not sure if I did it right. My numbers were all between 150-155 across the board. I remember the car was warmed up, and I tried it with the choke open and with it closed..I think these numbers are with it closed. I left all the plugs in except the one I was testing. Its too late to recheck now, as the motor is on a stand...so my question is what are the numbers supposed to be? and am I o.k. with my numbers? I read somewhere as long as they are all close to each other, thats good. I dont know the history of the motor, I know the previous owner told me he never messed with it, i assume its stock. He said it didnt burn any oil, and every time I started the car before I took it out, it started right up. It did run rough at about 4000-5000 RPM if you floored the gas, but I assumed that was due to the carbs...it did idle beautifully. Any feedback would be appreciated, Zak

White Guage Face Opinions? Ricey?
I found an ebay link for colored bulbs with pics. The colors look pretty good with the white gauges. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Nissan-z-240Z-260Z-280Z-Gauge-Bulb-Set-BLUE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34207QQitemZ4588667758QQrdZ1 Zak

White Guage Face Opinions? Ricey?
I dont think the white faces make it look 'Ricey', however they dont quite look right either...TOMOHAWK is right in that the font is just a bit off for the car, not 'period correct'. The font is a little too modern.. I did download the template though...and I would like to see the white gauges backlit with green or blue. That just might look really good, especially if it gives the whole face a colored glow. If someone has night pics with colored bulbs, please post them! Zak

donor car
This '71 was sitting in a field under a tree since '85. perfect dash and vg seats, most interior good. all metal and exterior completely rotted. I found a LIVE snake in the glove box. scared the sh** out of me.
