need help with some pics of front end...
Hi guys, Can anyone post or email me some pics of their 240z? Mine is in the shop getting new floors/rails welded in, and when Im looking at the front end..it appears to have had patch metal put on by a previous owner. I need some pics of the front without the fenders on either side, showing the frame. Also pics looking at front and the area in the engine bay where the grill gets attached to at the front would help. While I'm at it...if anyone has pics of the underside showing where the front frame rails are mounted near the t/c(?) rods are that would help also. I have checked HUNDREDS of pics in the user gallerys...trust me. I have found a few, but anyone with any sitting around, please send them my way. My email is zirvine (at) rogers (dot) com .(dont want bots sniffing my email). Thanks again, Zak

lots of parts for sale
Michael, I cant go to datsunprojects.org from my computer or any other one ive tried. Any computer on the 'rogers' network here in Toronto Ive tried cant access your site. The way I found around it was to use a free web based proxy server (one of those surf the web anonymously through our web site things). I told the other guy who was having trouble to try it, and now he can access it. Since I cant access it, I cant see your source code to see if theres some sorta strange tag or anything. I dont know if its just a few of us having trouble or if youve heard that before. I guess if you ran your site through Dreamweaver or some other design program, it might tell you if all the tags and links jive together. I cant explain it...but I found a way around it! Zak

need help with a web-link
Hi guys, Theres several references in this site to www.datsunprojects.org . One is for paint colors, another is for Hitatchi carb diagrams. Every time I click the links, I get a "timed out trying to connect to..." error. I have used InternetExplorer, and Firefox for browsers. One time several months ago I got on to look at the paint chips, but havnt been able to connect since. Is there some trick? Is that site down? Thanks again for the input, Zak

Flash rust?
JPD - Im emailing those pics to you right now. Its easy to see on the one pic, the others aren't so good because of the camera flash and the shop lighting. Zak

Flash rust?
I sand blasted the lower half of my '72 2 weeks ago...and the garage is JUST starting to put in the new floors. Its been inside the whole time...but I can tell its rusting already...tiny dots in the pours, and where it used to be shiny, its got a very slight dull haze...hard to tell if I didnt know what it looked like after blasting. Im the one who blasted it, so I can tell. Its not bad, but worries me! Im gonna take the advice on this post. When I get it back (with new floors/rails) im going to go over it with metal ready, then im going to por-15 the underside and wheel wells, then when thats done, start to prep for painting. If you want me to take some pics of what the bare metal looks like 2 weeks old, send me a PM and Ill get them to you. Zak

parking brake now 'frozen'.
Thanks, but how does the brake handle come apart?

parking brake now 'frozen'.
Yes...I tried using compressed air to blow it out, but that didnt work.

parking brake now 'frozen'.
Guys, Hi again, and heres where im at. My '72 shell is stripped down to rolling shell, with the exception of fuel/brake lines, brake booster and a few misc. parts. Interior is out except E-brake. My shell has been at the garage for some time, waiting for 'the welder guy' to come back. I got zedd findings floors/supports/frame rails/rockers. Once they are in, im good to start the prep work.. Heres what happened...I sandblasted the bottom half to get the black stuff (por-15 or some other tough coating) out from where the welding needs to be done. I blasted inside the car, and after when i was done, the e-brake was stuck. The button is pushed in and it moves up and down, and wont lock into place. Obviously sand is the culprit. I cant figure out if the e-brake comes apart at all so I can fix it, cuz it needs to be moved around and towed to another garage.. Anybody out there know how to fix this? Thanks guys. (please keep the abuse down to a minimum...i realize I should have removed it...my bad ) Zak

Overspray on seats

The Z is actually becoming a reality now, and I can just start to see the light at then end of the tunnel..when its back from getting the floors/rails, i will start the body prep. Hopefully same time next year she'll be all original and solid. Ill have lots of questions in the mean time! Cheers, Zak

Overspray on seats
Hi Guys, While my '72 is in the shop getting new floors/rails, I found a donor car, and the seats in it are in nice shape. After I cleaned them up, I noticed some slight overspray (red) on the sides (door sides of course). I went so far as to take some varsol and superfine steel wool and gave it some light scrubbing, but I ended it there before I did any damage, and thought I'd ask the pro's. Does anyone have an idea on how to get it off? I think black vinyl paint might be a last resort, but I'd rather try and get it off first. Thanks, Zak

Need help finding a rust-free shell for a '72
Hey guys, I need some help! Does anyone know of a good source for a rust-free (or pretty close) shell for an early Z. I have a '72, and I pretty much have aquired all good parts, and it turns out my frame is too rusted to be worth fixing. In fact, it even appears someone already did some metal work last time around. I live in Toronto, Canada and all the Z's up here are generally rotted from our winters and the road salt. I have been searching for a few months here, ebay, other sites, forums..etc. I have only found one or two rolling shells that dont need work. I know Texas, Arizona, and California are the promise land...but I'd like to find one closer if at all possible. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know...it will be much appreciated. Thanks, Zak

does anyone like this front skirt?
No, it came with the car..its all one piece, the headlight buckets, front and sides. Im thinking of keeping it, but it will take away from the 'originality' im going for.

Right Click gone?
Hey.. See guys...Im just above Toronto, and this guy can vouch for me! I actually saw some sunlight today so I went into the garage with a portable heater to try and get some body panels off. After about an hour I couldnt feel my hands through my gloves and had to call it quits. Its no use...gonna have to wait for warmer weather. You guys in the south got it made... Zak

Right Click gone?
I got my reply from Alfadog. I missed that other thread (thanks bambikiller). I just wanted to know if was done intentionally or just a PHP issue. I switched browsers and also I havnt been keeping up here, winter is harsh up here and the garage is too cold to work on the Z...so if I hang out here all day I'll just get depressed! Cheers guys, Zak

Right Click gone?
Hi: I just found another nice pic to use as my desktop to keep me motivated to keep working on my Z. When I right clicked it to save it to the desktop, I found the right click disabled. Did you do this for some security reason, or just happened that way? Thanks, Zak

The completed look
Nice with the front spoiler...also nice without...but the spoiler is good. Im not crazy about the flares. I want rims like that for my Z, are they Konig rewinds? Also what red did you use..I want to keep mine red after the restore and that looks good. If you photoshop'ed the rims in, send me the pic so I can try it on mine! Zak
