New 240Z Door Panels 70-73
I just picked up a set of panels for a U.S. member here, and I asked my Nissan connection a few questions. They will not send stuff to the U.S. and he said other dealerships likely will not either. He couldnt answer why they arent available in the U.S. but said something about warehouse allotment something or other. I said that it doesnt make sense because the U.S. is obviously a larger market. He even asked someone at a warehouse about it and apparently they are allotted to Canada only. He couldnt explain it any further.

Bolt Torque Spec's
John, thats an ugly scenario. Well I have both the FSM and the How to..., and Im certain I got most of the specs from the how to book but I guess I'll unwrap the motor, take the valve cover off, use the torque wrench at 15 and see if it doesnt click... Ill go up from there till I find what I actually did it at. Then I'll ease them off a bit and re-torque if needed. If I have stretched out the threads I think (although I'm no expert) that it would be better to torque a bit more than the 15lbs to 'compensate' if theyre stretched, but not go nearly as high as the 33lbs which may snap a bolt off. It might stop snowing this weekend - I'll get on my parka and go in the garage and check!

Bolt Torque Spec's
John, I'm sure I used that reference for my cam towers... what happened to yours? What torque should I use, and whats the best way to correct what I've done... loosen them a bit then tighten?

Bolt Torque Spec's
I've found most of them when I rebuilt my '72 motor. Alot of them I found in the 'how to rebuild your nissan/datsun motor' book, some in the FSM, some in the Haynes... What are you looking for exactly?

about this computer worm....
Paul I have to admit this MacBook is a work of art. I really love it. Its designed beautifully. I only defend Windows because Im harassed by the Linux and Mac guys all the time. I recently took apart a MacBook AIR to remove the hard drive and I was amazed. That thing is the most precisely packed case I've ever seen. The layout inside was beautiful but I'd still put Windows on it!

about this computer worm....
I use an iPhone, and have many tools to forensically extract data from logical and unallocated space on them, but thats as far as I go with Macs. The majority of filesystems I see are NTFS (Windows XP/Vista) so I use Windows mostly. I know PC's take a bit more knowledge to keep running well, but you have to admit it was only until recently when a Mac was good for design work and surfing the 'net (let the flaming begin!!). Most good software is designed on the most popular platform which is Windows. The only way a mac user can say they can run most software is if they do it on Windows emulation, and the most exciting offering for a Mac recently (Microsoft Office) is from a PC company. Thankfully apple still has the iTunes store. At least people love their ipods.

about this computer worm....
This is really going to annoy you then... Im using my beautiful new MacBook Pro to type this but I'm running WINDOWS. Ya, I said it - Windows on my Mac. I set bootcamp to completely bypass my Mac install. I have a few computers at work including a big mac tower but I almost always use my PC's.

about this computer worm....
Im at work and everything looks status-quo. Not much more spam in my inbox. Now is a good time to do the Windows and Virus program updates if you havn't already. If you get errors or cant update either, where you usually can, then look into it more and run a few more tools.

about this computer worm....
Heres all you need to know in this article. Were monitoring this at work as we deal in computer related crime etc.. Basically, Don't panic. It wont all hapen on one day. You should update Windows now, and your antivirus. Then Run a Conficker removal tool like the one above or one from this ad. http://www.windowssecrets.com/2009/03/30/01-Run-a-removal-tool-before-April-1

'77 280 in the Great White North
Rick, As zbane mentioned, Charlie is the guy to see for the floorpans, rails, supports. He also makes them and I believe he supplies MSA and the like. He's in Kingston and depending where you are in Ontario you can pick them up or let him ship to you. Ive dealt with him on several items and never been disappointed. Where are you located?, I'm just north of Toronto. Zak

People are actually bidding on this crap?
This is great - rare Z sunglass case from the same seller. But I'm looking at the pic and it doesnt look right. I have a bit of photoshop experience and the edges of the Z sticker look wrong. So I save the picture from the auction and zoom in with Windows picture viewer and its CLEARLY been altered. It looks like the edges were poorly smoothed out or something. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-Z-240z-280z-280zx-300ZX-350z-LENS-GLASSES-CASE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3911Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem400038899405QQitemZ400038899405QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Update on Floorpan Rail Replacement
The Z is a great car.. maybe get what you can for it and find another one thats in better shape. Don't beat yourself up over it because rust can hide very well on these. Everything can look great till you get the undercoating off and start poking around.

Update on Floorpan Rail Replacement
Ive replaced my floors, rails, and rockers so I can feel your pain. New floorpans and framerails are available still. Charlie has them and ships out. MSA uses his floors and rails I've heard http://www.datsunzparts.com/ As far as your skill level goes, if youre not confident you should find a good shop and let them take care of it for you. If the motor has to be pulled then its a good time to clean everything up in there. It's not going to be cheap, but if you find a good garage it should be at least fair. Since all that metal is structural you really can't leave it rusty. You're other option is to abandon that body and find another shell, but it may be cheaper to do the repairs.

He also sells "Z" racing gloves with the same sticker on it. And he even once sold a piar of "Z" racing shoes, which the buyer left neg feedback and said they were just wresting shoes. I could go on...

Undercoating.....What did you use.
I did my frame rails and floors, then prepped them and applied por-15 as well. And I used a spray on undercoating (paintable) on the por-15 in the wheel wells... then that got painted at the bodyshop. Underneath I'm going to use the undercoating when I get all the suspension off. I wont use it on the suspension, just the bare underside. Suspension components I think I'll clean up and paint.

If you did not have your Z....
Hands down a Lotus Esprit - mid 80's, the ones that still look like a doorstop wedge.

Any opinions on this car?
I already said I liked and it looks good... so please don't think Im attacking your car. But I don't get why you tried to pretend you were someone else with no vested interest. Post #17 starts with "Hey Im just trying to give this poor guy the benefit of the doubt." I think in post #23 you actually go from 3rd person to 1st person because you initially said you went to look at the car, then work it into a martyr type post. Then you grandstand a bit and try to make a few people feel bad for commenting on it after its found out you arent being truthful. I think the topic has been diverted from focusing on your car as a direct result of the posts you've made. Good luck with the sale.

Any opinions on this car?
My opinion is this looks like a clean car and would be a great starting point to do a refresh or restore, and as is a good car to drive regularly.

Need help from my Canadian bretheren (longer post)
I already called Mike earlier for him. They don't have it.

Need help from my Canadian bretheren (longer post)
I just called these guys and they dont have one but suggested Charlie Osborne usually stocks body panels.

Need help from my Canadian bretheren (longer post)
Im going to assume its Charlie... I know he stocks some body parts. Ive got my Tabco stuf from him in the past. Send him an email and call him again. I recall it taking a few days for him to get back to me, several days actually. But I know his prices are fair and he ships to the US too. I'll call the local Datsun shop here in Toronto and ask if they happen to have one. Ill get back to you. Zak
