Is this price ok?
Another point... if the rails, rockers were replaced, and glass was taken out to fix rust... then its a rusty car. If all that rust was fixed.. you gotta figure it might not be straight until proven to be. Thats alot of rusted metal to remove and replace properly. Seriously consider this before you spend the money. You'll spend a whole lot more fixing it or finishing the previous owners 'refresh' than you would if you found a car that hasn't been already rust repaired and is ready to drive.

What did you find under your seat?

Por-15 on the end of Frame rail?
I can't say as to how hard it was...I paid someone to do it because I can't weld. I can tell you that when he was done the frame rails were good and straight but the floorpans and rockers were offset by a few mm causing a slight gap under one door, and not enough under another door. Its all fixed now, but I should have shopped around for a better shop at the time instead of the first place to take me. Zak

Por-15 on the end of Frame rail?
Yep I agree. I was in the same position as you. I ended up getting new rails from zedd findings and replacing both rails. When it comes to structural, you want to do it right. After I got new rails (and floors) I POR-15 coated them then used rocker guard over that. Check my gallery for images.

Z car body (help)
Tabco has ZX parts. From what I understand they are the manufacturers of aftermarket sheet metal. I have bought from them before. http://www.tabcobodyparts.com/html/table_of_contents.htm

280z drain tubes
When I stripped my 240z down, I took the cowl off, removed the wiper bag and cleaned all of that area out. I used a snake-thing and got far back in there to the drain holes and made sure they were free of junk. I removed a handful of leaves and crap out of one. Then I used POR-15 and painted it all in that area. I then sprayed a paintable rocker-guard coating in there and it stuck to the POR nicely.

finally back on the road...
That looks great. I hope you get to drive it a bit before winter hits!

OK, I checked with the MTO today and there is no record of that VIN in their database. I sent sliprenoodle a pm with the people he needs to call to find out what paperwork he requires from the MTO. If its from out of province, you need to find the last registered province, then get the last owner to sign over the permit. Or some affidavit type thing. If its from the US im not sure, but it sounds like a nightmare. Gotta find what state the last title was in, make sure its clean, no leins, get a copy of the title - don't know how that works if someone owns it, and get US customs to stamp it then pay taxes on it in Canada, then enter the RIV program to make it legal here and get a title. Whew.

Im going to check the VIN out here tomorrow at the Ministry (our DMV). He sent me a PM with it in there, don't know why he didnt post it here. I also asked a few more questions of the cars origins. I'm hoping he gave them the wrong number, or they made a mistake. My VIN was also registered improperly until I corrected it. There was an extra 0 also. If it turns out the car was never registered in Ontario, you will have to find out where it came from. If it came from another province maybe not so bad, but if it came from the US, a title will have to be located before it can be registered. But lets check on the VIN again first.

OK, the number on the firewall IS the number you need. That is your VIN. Post your VIN number here or send it to me in a Private-Message. Where did YOU buy the car from. Did you get it from someone near Brampton? Did you buy outside of Ontario. If it's FROM Ontario/Canada, there will be some ministry information somewhere. The car will be in one of their databases. But you need to tell us the VIN and more about the car. Call the guy who you bought it from and ask him specifically where the car is from if you don't know.

Hey, tell me a little bit more about where you got it. Where did this car come from? Did you get a title with the car or just a bill of sale? The ministry can re-title the car if you bought it from someone who actually owned it, and I know they have procedures to deal with that type of situation. Also...what number are you giving the ministry. Check the number on the top of your DASHBOARD, and match it with the number stamped onto the FIREWALL on the inside of the engine compartment. You may be giving them the number from the ID plate, and it may be wrong, or they may be looking at the engine number not the VIN. VIN numbers are located on the dash, drivers door jamb, engine bay id plate, and engine bay firewall drivers side. Let me know what you find.

I like the design, and with the right color combination I think that looks great. Im not too crazy about the yellow/black though. Any other color combinations you like? But Tom is right...if YOU like it, go for it!
