I offered him 1700 for both or 500 for the parts car. He came back with a trade offer that I can't do. I told him my offer stands. I just got an email counter for 1900 which means the deal could be done for 1800. Thinking.................

Thanks for the response. Just to let you know I went looking as I want a parts car to complete a 280z that I have. Having all the major parts, I am looking for a complete car for all the little stuff that would be needed.
  4. I went and looked at 2 1978 280z's this afternoon. Forgot my camera so no pics. The 1st car hasn't run since 2008. Has a large rust hole in the rear hatch sill, some rust thru on the passenger side fender in the engine bay. That's all I could see. Dash is cracked, seats need upholstery, interior parts are there and in fair condition. Engine is complete. I'm looking at this as a parts car only and is worth around $500. The 2nd car has lots of new parts, including a perfect dash, good seats, aftermarket radio, new radiator, new hoses, new AFM boots. Owner claims that the car has 50k. The problem is that it took a hit on the passenger side door, crushing the rocker and door. I looked at the frame rail, it looks ok. The windshield is cracked on that side, so I'm assuming that the frame may have gotten a little twisted. The owner was asking 4000 for both, I said in the 2's. He's fixated on the injectors as he had them installed at a Mazda repair shop and They charged him a little over 1k and he is determined to get that money. My opinion is that this is worth 1500 to 1700 as the parts are excellent. Is it possible to cut the needed pieces from the parts car and weld to the damaged car and get the frame straiten. Would this be expensive? Just wondering what you would pay of this?????
  5. find a local Z car club. There are a number of them in So Cal. Loads of information , help, and can be a good source for new or used parts.

Thank you but I'm looking for the breakdown of each component. I know I 've seen it here but don't recall the link. It had a lot of pages and each component was broken down, for example: 1 starter P7900.2222 3 bolts P8558-1111 10mmx14mm 1.25 thread. 1 gasket 4400-8585 That's the link I'm looking for. Thanks

I have seen an index of components that show each component in a z, what each item is, how many and what size screws etc. I have searched for component index, list of components etc. Does anyone have the link to it? Thanks

Wouldn't want to sell a copy??
  15. After looking at your pics it appears that there have been some mods. As you have mentioned you have a 5 spd. These years only came with 4spds.however If you want to go back to a 4spd I have one that I would trade. The exhaust may also be after market as the exhaust tip looks to be larger than stock. Does it have a header??
  16. Welcome to the Z world. Just to let you know there are two Datsun car clubs here in the valley. One is Desert Z Association http://www.desertzassociation.com/ . The other is Desert Datsuns http://desertdatsuns.freeforums.org/index.php. Both have members who have a lot of knowledge. Go to http://www.xenons30.com site and download the FSM. By the way where is your brothers shop??

just to update I did finally find the nsfastky.ini file. Wound up copying and pasting into the windows file. I still can't open the program. When I get to "set up fast for windows XP" I click on the fast for windows and get "disk1". I don't get a "fast setup" box. Still working on it.
  18. az240z replied to lm71z's post in a topic in Open Discussions
I sent a message to xenon and he said the nsfatky.ini file is in the root directory of disk one. I checked and didn't find any .ini or .exe files.
  19. az240z replied to lm71z's post in a topic in Open Discussions
I downloaded these from Xenon's site and followed the instructions or at least tried to. I am stuck at "Install"key file" to windows folder. I open disk1 and do not find the "NSFASTKY.INI" FILE. nor do I find ns...exe file. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

conductive well that should make the drive electrifying. Did you put the QuiteCar over the heat sheild?? And what did you cover the insulation with??

I will be installing heat and sound proofing on my 280z and am wondering what you all did to cover it. This would be on the firewall. Got mine from http://www.lobucrod.com/ Did you use the old firewall insulation with the black cover or installed custom carpeting? Pics would help.
  23. az240z posted a post in a topic in Open Discussions
Does anyone know if the firewall insulation that MSA sells will fit the 280z? Msa titles it as fitting only the 240z. Would there be major modification to it to fit the 280z??
  24. it was my attempt at humor. A power bleeder would be good.
  25. or he can fill the thing up with fluid, see if he can get the clutch to engage and take it to his mechanic.
