body parts (urgent)
Zcar source are good guys. I've bought lots of parts from them, and they are straight shooters. They are local (phoenix) and I have met them in person. Jeff knows his stuff.

Metal headlight bucket?
I have an 4/70 and a 6/72 240Zs. Both have fiberglass headlight buckets. I recently came across a metal one. Were the early ones metal - maybe they were replaced on my early car? If the early cars were metal then I will have to find another one.... thank you in advance

240z # 2
Congrats Derek - I have HLS3003486. Guess it's not the earliest in AZ! Mine was in an outdoor storage yard for 10 years, now in my garage waiting for me to finish my 72. I'm in phoenix - I'd love to see it sometime.

Recommend good Z Mechanic in Phoenix?
Spanky's and Thorpe's motor works are both very experienced with older Zs. Look under the Discounts section of www.desertzassociation.com. Spanky's is on the east side, Thorpe's is in north central Phoenix. If you join you can even get a discount...

70 Air cleaner back plate same as 72?
Does anybody know if the back plate for a 70 (no heat riser no summer/winter flap) air cleaner is identical to the 72 one? The 72 I am referring to is for roundtops and has the heat riser and summer/winter flap. I know it will fit but am concerned with originality as my Z is an early VIN. Thank you in advance....

Interior colour
Les at http://www.classicdatsun.com/ is doing mine. The white diamond vinyl I got from him is nice. He's doing a headliner and parking brake boot for me in matching material. Good guy to work with. Has good press here.

Going Albino
Got my white diamond vinyl from Les at CDM... very nice. I had him keep a piece so he can match the headliner and parking brake boot. Seat covers next month. We'll see about door skins and window trim pieces after that.

Color Choice
My 72 is white - I'm going to have it repainted white. I like the look with the 240Z decal down the side in black. I'm going to change my interior to white also. I'm in phoenix so white=cooler. Black interiors here make your car into an oven.

I think it'll buff out.

72 Zs with AC
My 6/72 has AC with the compressor mounted on the pass side, my 4/70 Z has AC with the compressor mounted on the drivers' side.

Going Albino
I'll wear my shades... not too worried about dirt, there's no mud in the desert. This car will always be clean - a weekend warrior always garaged. Whitewalls...hmmm

Going Albino
I've decided to go with white interior on my white 72 Z. I'm thinking white everything.... even the dash and console.... whiteface guages....carpet may be grey... total albino. I'll keep my black 240Z decal. This car will not be a daily driver and won't see rain here in AZ. I have western wheels - like centerlines but with holes in them. See if I can get a personal plate ALBINOZ. Whadya think? You stock purists (of which I am one) chill... my 70 will be bone stock.

Rust Bucket Support Group
The dash alone is worth $600 if it is uncracked. Because of its close proximity to the door, I'd have a pro give it a look if it was me. You may have problems getting your door to fit properly if the repair isn't done right.

Undercarriage drip pan 240z
This rare item was stock on the 240 but discarded quite often. I'm told it is good for helping air flow through the radiator.

dash repair
I've got a half cap that I got off of an old parts car on my 72. I have 4 dashes - 1 out of an old parts car, one still in a parts car and 2 in cars to be restored - all cracked. In Arizona the sun is relentless and original Z dashes don't stand a chance. To date I haven't seen a 240 dash in AZ that isn't cracked - including one on a 71 that sold for 18000 at Barrett-Jackson. At some point I'm going to have DashRestorations do the one I have out and then install it on my 72. If I'm happy with it I'll have them do my 70. It can get upwards of 160 inside a car here in the summer, so I wouldn't trust any old - no matter how perfect - or NOS dash.
