Can anyone identify the model years these two different trim panels were originally applicable? Thanks, Keith Type A: Type B
  3. I am interested in creating the clear vinyl seat protectors for the later model seats. Per my research, the Type 2 seat was used for the post-1971 240Z, 260Z, and 280Z. I have attached a photo of the protectors that I believe are appropriate for the 1972 240Z. According to the parts manual, the reclining bracket part numbers 86470-E8800 (left) 87470-E8800 (right) - outboard and 87480-N4500 (left) and 86480-N4500 (right) - inboard were used for post-1971 240Z thru June 1976. I need confirmation what location(s) the seat protectors show below are configured to fit. Thanks for your help. Keith

Rivets may be the wrong fastener I was looking at some past emails from jfa.series1, he indicated a source for hex-head screws. I will reach out to the supplier to see if they offer self-tapping sheet metal screws. Keith

As I see the photos, the A pillar coverage would compliment extending the landau material to the hood. Naturally, the engine heat may effect adhesive, so my rivet solution can be extended to the hood area. There are way too many stock 240Z's around. I want my car to really stand out at a car show! Nice, the illustration show adhesive. I thought some black rivets (to match the vinyl) would be a better alternative. Glue and other adhesives can deteriorate due to heat and moisture. I want some permanency to this enhancement. Keith

Since I have plenty of time on my hands, I thought now is the time to add a bit of distinction to my 1970 Safari Gold 240Z. Most people add weber carbs or fender flairs. My idea is the landau top. Here is a photo of an install. Ignore the beltline molding for now, I would add the molding once I can find a manufacturer that offers one that can be screwed to the body (I do not want the stickon type). The manufacturer of the top offers one day shipping, so I will get it tomorrow and have the install completed by Saturday. I'm so excited! I'll post photos when I am done. Maybe a group buy can be arranged for other Z owners!! Keith

Word on the street is that @jfa.series1 is busy removing corrosion and contaminates from Z parts....he probably will not have his "paint application" hat on until the weekend!!

Would you (and your spouse) rather have a 21k-Mile 1971 Datsun 240Z Series I or $310,000? Don’t think too long about the answer! Keith

    Page number should be “JFA-20”?
  19. Interesting comment. I believe early USA delivered vehicles had a 11 mm ball joint shaft. (Later vehicles had a larger shaft due to ball joint failure.) Keith

  21. New Year’s Day we will cut the slits in the cargo deck carpet to accommodate the luggage straps. What will you be doing? Keith

Bonzi Lon and fuzze, Do you have a close-up photo of the original Nissan fastener/rivet used to attach the original rubber seat strap to the seat clip? I am most interested in the head shape (positioned close to the seat foam) and the washer/crushed fastener end that is positioned on the opposite side. Thanks, Keith
  23. From my research all 1970-1978 had the protectors. The later model 240Z seat that had the reclining mechanism had a different shape to the clear plastic, but same gauge material. Keith
