  1. Well, it looks like I will be adding the car to the stable.
  2. Arne, I am hopeful that as I continue to drive and show the car more opportunities for additional 240Z ownership present themselves. I can only imagine that keeping my car out of public sight has cost me buying "opportunities" over the years. Keith
  3. So I was at a local Cars & Coffee show with my 240Z and a guy walks up with this story: Has a 240Z in the garage, owned for 4 years. Purchased with no transmission so he had a 5 speed installed. Wants to sell today. Well, I drive out to his house and out of the garage he backs out a silver 09/70 240Z. So I am looking at the car, no apparent rust on the wheel wells, floor boards, or fenders. The car was reshot 2 years ago with a Volvo color. (Masked off the weatherstripping.) All weatherstripping in good shape. Engine compartment is black w/the id tag covered in over spray. Oil is leaking from the front seal. The fan is removed and he has added two electric fans to the front of the radiator. Radiator replaced 2-years ago. Aftermarket wheels. Seats need recovering. Pioneer radio w/ 6x9 speaker set on the rear deck. Wants $1000. Clean title. I know what you all would say.. gotta be nuts to walk away from this one. My dilemma is that I would want to "refresh" it. I just completed one car, what would I do with a second. My question for those of you who “show” your car: Can I expect people to walk up to me with opportunities like this on occasion? I would like to pass on this car waiting for a 1969 production project.

I am considering a Chester & Herod carpet set for my 240Z. Does anyone think there may be an opportunity for a group buy? Keith
  5. All these parts relate to the very early production 240Zs. Please keep me in mind if you decide to offer them for sale. Keith
  6. Dan, I believe the parts you are seeking are: Rubber bumper Inspection lid – 4 needed 63222-E4103 Rubber Cushion Inspection lid – 2 needed 63223-E4101 (superseded to 63223-E4102) All are currently available via Courtesy Nissan Keith

Left and center photos have Zerk fittings, right photo does not. Also, Left and center photos use castle nut and cotter pin, right photo uses a nyloc fastener. Your preference on style. (OEM is simiar to left and center type.) No other parts needed if all you want to do is replace the outer tie rod ends. Keith

I have found three alternative manufacturers: Distinctive Industries http://www.distinctiveindustries.com/ Possibly sold via: Classicdatsun.com Datsunparts.com Banzai (http://zzxdatsun.com/catSoftTrim.php ) Seatz Manufacturing http://www.seatzmfg.com Possibly sold via: Motorsports Auto (MSA) Z Car Source Pony Express Industries 501-337-5909 Has original patterns from the 1980s Possibly sold via: Now Ventures, Inc (http://www.ninfiniti.com) I have not compared the covers side-by-side and therefore cannot attest to the accuracy of the vinyl texture. Do note however, not all manufactures sew the pleats, some choose to heat seal the pleats. Three choices ices
  10. Check Autozone part numbers FA1044 and FA2026 for the 11mm ball joint, also fits a 1969 Datsun 510. I wanted to purchase some extra spares several years ago and found that I had to order about 10 of these part numbers to ultimately have some 11mm spares. (I knew that I would have to use my OEM spares for my project and wanted to have some backups.) After I received some 14mm ball joints in error, the store manager was kind enough to call the distribution center and request they measure the ones in the warehouse to confirm 11mm prior to shipment. Make certain you get the ball joints with the Zerk fitting and castle nut with cotter pin. Some of the ones available now are sealed and use a nyloc fastening nut. Keith

Richard, Thank you for the compliment. I wanted to make it easy on the body shop and source all the parts myself and leave the body and paint work to their experienced hands. (Some body shops do not want customers to provide the parts, since parts acquisition is a profit center for the business. My goal was to get the correct parts and allow the business to make an agreed upon profit on the body and paint work.) I have heard many stories about people who try to micromanage the body and paint work and ultimately alienate themselves from the craftsmen who do the actual work. I am very fortunate to have a shop nearby that I trust and who trusts me to complete my vision of the project. Although the depths of my pockets are not bottomless, I budgeted for this project and collected the parts over the years to see the project to completion. As luck would have it, some of the parts I did not anticipate needing did present themselves to me as the project progressed. (For example, the OEM exhaust system became available as I needed it.) I am now at the point where I can start to dispose of some of the excess parts I have accumulated. I plan to use the proceeds from these parts to fund another project. Keith

I don't have the dimensions readily at hand. The VCR tapes holding the corners flat should give some perspective on size.

Does anyone know if Shin Yoshikawa is the artist who did the cut-away drawings of the 240Z at the time of the car's release? I have the dealer poster from 1969 and there is no artist's signature or other markings to indicate the artist. Thanks, Keith

Mike, The A/C on the 1970 240Z was not a factory option in US destination cars. The unit you are describing is the aftermarket system, usually installed by the dealer. I have a similar system. Is there a manufacture's name or part number on the drive belt to the compressor? Thanks, Keith
  24. Interested in: Koito headlamps Spare tire if Bridgestone or Toyo Rear brake cylinders Muffler (OEM only) Thanks, Keith
  25. Beautiful Restromod. It will be a real sleeper.
