  1. My painter said that the improvements/EPA mandates in paint technology precludes him from appling anything other than base/clear. I have know him for 12 years and he operates a legitimate business. (He repainted the front facia of my 300ZX 12 years ago, and it still looks great to this day!)
  2. Unfortunately, I have not had the time to socialize with other Z owners in DFW. I work all week and spend the time with my family on the weekends.

  3. The color will remain the 920 code. I am defering to my painter to determine the proper paint match and number of base & clear coats. The tires are 175/80-14. I had a very difficult time locating the OEM size. I have six Bridgestone RD-150 and three Toyo Z-1 tires (all spare tires that have seen little or no mileage) sitting in storage waiting for the completion. I have been accumulating parts for this project for 21 years. As the car sits now, the only non-oem parts on it is the muffler, tires, seat covers, windshield and radiator. The a/c was dealer installed. The rust was added after retail delivery ;-)
  4. I have owned this 240Z since 1987 and decided it is time...
  5. I recently located a NOS set of 4 Tokico S Series shocks (black cartridge). They are an oil based shock rather than the Tokico H Series shocks (blue cartridge) which are a gas based shock. Has anyone had any experience with the Tokico S Series shocks in terms of comfort and handling compared to the original 240Z shocks. I want keep the car as close to OEM as possible. Thanks, Keith
  6. I have an extensive collection of Old Datsun posters and banners from the 1960s and 1970s. Some have a copyright date and/or printing date. Others have a publisher and/or artist name. Some have no date or name markings. Some were issued by Nissan, some by independent companies. Others have no reference to who issued them. Other than Nissan, I have not been ascertain who may own a copyright or trademark or have any other "right" to the images, graphics, or text. I would like to know the the guidlines/laws related to reproducing these for limited circulation. Thanks, Keith

Take a look here: http://www.geocities.com/geo_n_m_l/nissan.html I have not determined what date Nissan started using these fonts. Keith
  9. Take a look at these suppliers: http://www.rustrepair.com/repair_panels/onlinecat.htm?r=ru&p=sm http://www.alfaparts.net/datsun.html Keith
  10. Here is another one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140280277630&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&viewitem=
  11. DMC-Z, If your 06/70 240Z has the original ball joint and steering knuckle combination (presuming no prior owner had the combination changed out during a previous service) then the NCP260-1173 should fit your steering knuckle. You may want to measure the 11mm shaft of the NCP260-1173 at the NAPA parts counter prior to accepting delivery to ensure that NAPA packaged and shipped you the correct part. Keith
  12. The change from 11mm to 14mm occurred during the 07/70 production. Direct fit 11mm ball joints are CARQUEST K9011 MCQUAY NORRIS FA2026 NAPA/UNITED NCP260-1173 AC DELCO 45D2043 Both the MOOG K9011 and Beck Arnley 1011089 lists the part as an 11mm application but their actual measurement fits only the 14mm steering knuckles. Please let me know if your research uncovers any additional 11mm applications. Keith
  13. Seeing something being sold a Forum Member before they give other members a chance to buy the item directly.
  14. Driving a Z32 is a completely difference experience from the S30. Air conditioning, sound system, leather make the Z32 a great cruiser. The S30 is more "unrefined" and can be wrenched-on very easily. The Z32 is a far safer car, from the pretensioned seat belts to the crumple zone. (I am always conscious of this fact when I am riding with my kids or wife!) There are so few of both the Z32 and S30 in the Dallas area that I am often asked about both. (I do not really like to draw attention, since most want to race (Z32) or touch the car (S30). Neither propect excites me.) Both have their place in an enthusiast’s garage. Keith
  15. Welcome, it's nice to see another 240Z being cared for in the Lone Star State! Keith
  16. Would either of these panels work? http://www.rustrepair.com/repair_panels/onlinecat.htm?r=ru&p=sm http://www.alfaparts.net/datsun.html I have one left side and two right side NOS. I am attempting to get one of the aftermarket panel suppliers to reproduce these parts on one stamping. (Currently, the aftermarket parts are only from the beltline down, not the full panel. I have been told this is because the limitations of UPS shipping requirements.) Keith
  17. Thanks for the clarification. Is it an OEM Nissan Accessory or aftermarket part? (If aftermarket, who was the manufacturer?) Is is for all S130 years or specific to 79-81 or 82-83? Do you have the part number for it? Keith P.S Motorsport Auto lists two distinct application periods: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/EA39/50-0006 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/EA39/50-0007
  18. Thanks for the quick response! Is it an OEM Nissan Accessory or aftermarket part? (If aftermarket, who was the manufacturer?) Is is for all Z31 years or specific to 84-86 or 87-89? Do you have the part number for it? Keith P.S The OEM currently on ebay says "300ZX" rather than "Turbo" see: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Very-Rare-1987-89-Factory-Bra-for-Nissan-300zx_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50457QQihZ020QQitemZ300225936152QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  19. This front mask with "Turbo" imprint was in a collection of Datsun/Nissan parts I acquired. (There is no part number or item number on it.) Can anyone identify what model it fits? Thanks in advance for your help. Keith
  20. Here you go. http://kepler.sos.ca.gov/corpdata/ShowAllList?QueryCorpNumber=C0791063 You may try to locate AMELIA PEREDA to see if the business was reestablished under another name. Keith
  21. Oiluj, I do not want to hijack this tread, so please let me know if I am off subject. How do you make a determination of "80% of store retail" when the parts are no longer available from Nissan or any other established retailer? Doesn't the nature of the auction environment establish the retail price? Once the higher bidder has won the auction, doesn't the non-winning bids establish the remaining market value? I am just getting stated in the ebay community as a seller of NOS Datsun parts and I am having difficulty establishing a comparable retail price for the items. Even when I list parts on the forums and craiglist, potential buyers want to know my lowest acceptable purchase price. How can/should this be determined? I am trying to understand how to retail with integrity. Keith
  22. I am using ebay to meet many Datsun enthusiasts and many have been very friendly. Unfortunately, there is always a bad apple in the bunch, but you just have to "vet" the people you do business with. The honest sellers and buyers rarely make the headlines but they are out there, so don't get too discouraged. Keith
  23. I am about 85% though the parts. It is frustrating not knowing the models and years many of these parts fit! Keith Datsun Nissan parts#3.zip
  24. Unfortunately, the original "horse hair" jute was NLA many years ago. Nissan superseded the material with a compressed padding. I believe this the jute is similar to the Nissan material. http://www.lebaronbonney.com/osc/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=191 Keith
  25. I have added a tab on the excel worksheet for some of the publications. Unfortunately, the older publications do not have release dates on them. Keith Datsun Nissan parts#2.zip
