If I am getting no spark from the coil then this is either a problem with the coil/XR700/wiring correct?

Yes, we did. I noticed that what I'm dealing with is very similar to what happened here http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31043&highlight=distributor+swap I am just unsure as to what might be the cheapest fix.

If it helps, I did a AT to MT swap a few months before it died. Never changed the distributor. Don't know if that changes anything.

So my 71 240 died a couple of months ago. I had it running in the parking lot, just warming up, and it just died. We tried switching out the coil and that didn't work. It was at the time equipped with a crane XR700 electronic ignition, which has since been removed, but the car still doesn't run. Any thoughts? Would installing a new distributor and wiring it stock solve the problem?

On the second picture in the PDF you can see the box containing the contact plates. The two tabs on the right side for screwing it back together, one of those on each half of the combo switch uses one bushing.

I will take a look and if I cant find it I will try and post a picture for you tonight.

Those look like the ones that go on the metal box that encloses the switches. On each half of the combo switch there is 1 screw that uses the bushing. You probably missed it when putting it back together. There is a thread "Headlight Madness!!" that has a link to a PDF a member put together with pictures, this should help (why do you think I know where they came from?? ).

That was the first thing I did but I still dont have clearance in the console.

Well I have two extra shifters lying around and I would rather not cut my new console so I guess im going to try and go that route. Thanks guys.

I meant the specific year shift kit.

So you wouldnt need the specific year if you could rig it up? Has anyone just installed the shortshift kit to fix this problem before?

How much do you have to trim and how do you trim it? I dont want to hurt my console Is the short shifter kit available for the late ZX trannys?

So I recently converted my 71 auto to a 5 speed. I used a tranny out of a 81-83zx and the manual diff from the stock manual 240. I had to cut about 1.5" forward in my tranny tunnel to make room for my shifter and a 72-78 inner shift boot. This all worked out fine and it shifts perfectly, however I put my console in tried to drive around the block...CRUNCH...it crushes the console in 1st 3rd and 5th. Do I need to get one of these modified shift knobs I see in this thread? Are they just cut off, bent, and welded? I dont know if I have the means to do any of this. What can I do?

Well, I would be the winner of the console So im a little confused, it is a 71 console correct? Is the side switch a 73 option? Any clue what the side compartment piece is for?

I found a 1984 nissan pickup 2wd, does this have a R180 3.9 or 4.11 in it? I know I found some information on which cars had these diffs (but I cant find it again) and I remember mostly 4x4's. Can anyone give me a list of what cars to find these R180s in? Thanks.

I cant get the bolts loose that hold the rear of the differential to the moustache bar through the big square bushing. Is there anyway to get this off? One of the nuts is stripped also. Can the bushing be replaced?

What would be the difference between a 70-78 and 79-83 stainless steel brake line? The slave cylinder I have is for 70-83, will the hose still work?
