  1. Mine is just a 2.25" pipe all the way back to a flowmaster 40 muffler on the back. Nothing special, but it sounds really good and seems to work just fine. Cost me less than $200 for all parts and labor last summer.
  2. Wow, that looks like one heck of a Z! Definately one took take good care of. I got a similar report when I took mine to get the exhaust put on. He told me I had very little underside rust and the frame was very strong. Naturally i still have rust, but it felt so good to hear that.
  3. looks like the heat shild on my 280Z

Every now and again a set will go up on ebay. I've been keeping an eye out myself cuz my drivers side one has 2 slats broken out.

  8. I have one behind the drivers seat. I decided it would be a good idea after the little rubber links on my fuel rails kept splitting last summer and dripping gas on my exhaust manifold. I plan on switching out the fuel rails with the ones off my 79 motor since it doesn't have the rubber links.

  13. Wow, yours looks really nice! I like the paint color a lot. Wheels look pretty sweet too. Hopefully once I get more repairs done, i'll have some time and cash left for things like paint and wheels .
  14. I have been looking to replace my busted diff in my 280Z for a while now. There are only 2 I have found around here and both seem awful expensive, but I'm running out of options. The first is the stock 3.54 gears from a 78 for $175 and the second is the 3.9 gears out of an 82 for $200. I figure for $25 I may as well go for the 3.9s. If I was to install this on my 77, would it require adjusting my speedometer or anything like that? Also, will this hurt my fuel economy on the highway all that much? I finally got up to 22mpg from the 17 I was getting and would kinda like to keep it at or above 20 if I can. Thanks.

  16. Sounds really expensive to me. "NO" rust sounds awful too good to be true. It sounds like its going to cost a lot to get the inside done. My 77 only cost me $1,350. Others here can offer much more info than me.
  17. These days, I drive my buick almost as much as the Z. Its gas mileage is almost exactly the same, but it doesn't have to rum premium, so thats $.20 a gallon I can save right there. It's basically come down to, "I don't really care anymore." because A) there is nothing I can do about it, I have to drive, and C) does it really cost ALL THAT MUCH MORE in the long run?
  18. A little more than 12 gallons cost me $35.75 the other day. Totally sucks. How many miles per gallon do you guys usually get? Im gettin just about 17-18. I guess I never really thought about how bad it is for a little 2.8l fuel injected motor to get less than 20.
  19. True story! The headlights also make a great place to sit and to set tools and other items.
  20. Honestly, I kinda like the big ol bumpers. Something about them is attractive to me. I also do like the fact that they do offer some protection, can't complain too much about that.

Welcome indeed. I too am nearly alone with my Z here in KS. I can count on one hand the number of S-30 Z's I've seen here. I do enjoy driving a "rare" car, but finding used parts is no easy task.
  22. Wow, that has got to be great. How much were 4 struts? My car is in dire need of them, but i'm not sure how much a full set goes for.
  23. Had mine since July of 2004. Still very new to the Z game.
  24. This dude is the guy that sold me mine. It really works great and is made of quality material. Never had any problems and I've had it for almost a year now. He also uses a pic from my car in the ad. :cheeky: pics of mine installed are in the link in my sig. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-280ZX-280Z-N-T-COLD-AIR-INTAKE-1975-1983_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38634QQitemZ8055368408QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
