240Z with 502 big block
I met this person the other day outside a local shop. I had seen the car driving around once before and this time i had a chance to stop by and check it out up close. This is a 72 i believe and it is the sweetest V8 swap i have ever heard of. This thing is a beast in person and she even poped the hood for me so i could give it a look. Very cool. Im gonna try and catch em down at the track sometime to see this thing in person. Check out their website. http://www.ratsun.com

Advice needed
Does anyone know the dimensions of an original muffler for the 77 280Z?

Advice needed
Well, i tried the junkyard idea already. They won't sell me one. I asked and they told me most yards won't sell them. That, and iv'e only found 1 280Z in a yard, all the rest were 260's, 280ZX's and 300ZX's. The one 280 i found had a nice dual tip exxhaust, but it was all rusted though.

Advice needed
Ok, here is the deal. My 280Z is in dire need of a new exhaust. The original one was cut off right after the pre-muffler and the previous owner just stuck an old honda muffler in the hole, put a clamp on it and called it good. (this is just another reason i think he was an idiot). Anyway, it needs to be replaced. Problem is, many of the new exhaust systems are made for either stock manifold or for headers, and not usually both. Are headers all they are cracked up to be? would performance be that much better than the manifold? I ask because i need to decide whether to get the manifold or header exhaust system. If i went for headers, i would have to wait another 3 months or so before i could get it all put in, however I don't want to buy an exhaust for a manifold and then regret it a few months down the road becuase i want headers. What should i do? wait and put on both headers and exhauset, or just go for the exhaust now? the guy at the shop said i should get the exhaust fixed ASAP. Sorry to ramble, but i need some input from other Z drivers. Thanks

Rare Solomon Islands 73 240Z uncovered
Actually, when i got my car, i was cleaning it out and found 2 crack pipes under the ash tray. Pretty nasty stuff, but they were really old.

Engine Revs high when warm
Yah, i don't think its a Cal model. Im missing those things. but my luck got a little better today. Some chick backed into my car crushing my little wheel flair right behind the driverside door in the parking lot today and decided it was fun to do a hit and run. I was in my car and she gave me a dirty look, and pulled away without stopping too bad for her i got her plate #. I got a report and am turning her in for hit and run. Sometimes things just have to suck

Engine Revs high when warm
I don't think it was, because it doesn't have the cat or the floor temp light. I really can't be sure though. Is there a sure fire way to tell if it was a cal car?

Engine Revs high when warm
My Z car has been doing this for a while now, but i have been busy with other more necessary problems to really worry about it. For some reason, If I am approching a stop, and the car is warm, the moment i put in the clutch, the engine will go up to 3k RPM and will hold there until the car comes to a stop. If I am driving and the engine is cold, it won't do this. This really bugs me and i think is one of the factors of my 15Mpg fuel economy. I would be greatful for any help in fixing this problem or for ways to impove my gas mileage. This is a 77' 280Z.

My Z went Dead.
Check your fusible links. I hit a bump once and it craked one of them near the bottom since they were so old.

Rain is flooding my Z
on the passenger side of my car, in the front of the door, the rain can drip in right below the window.
- How Old?

Finally - My Z Arrives
It really looks good! heck, i wish my 280 looked that nice .

Help on a parts car!!
Is the ZX wrecked? If not you may want to wonder why it is in the junkyard. In my own experience from buying and pursuing engines from salvage.

Anyone like my newly painted and cleaned valve cover??
Sweet. Someday when i get the $$ i plan on doing something like that. I got a lot more necessary work to do first though. :disappoin

280 will not start!
Yup, around here anyway, my Z is thin enough to fit in the cart returns. I'll get a pic. It's funny to see people walk by and give odd looks to se a car parked in the cart return. Plus, guaranteed no door dings! :classic:

280 will not start!
actually, it wouldn't turn over. I guess i didn't mention the battery was dead, but that was an easy fix and i got that taken care of after i mand the first post. Sorry bout that if it was confusing.

280 will not start!
Set of new spark plugs fixed the problem. Odd since they were only 3 months old.

280 will not start!
Please help me! This is the only car i got. We had a very bad ice storm last night and i had to park outside since my sister's car was in the garage. It started this morning, but now it will not even turn over. I have attempeted jumping it, roll starting and dropping the clutch, and checking connections. Is there anything that usually causes these cars not to start in cold weather? anything i can check? This car is EFI.

Anyone tried a Turbonator
A friend of mine showed em to me a while back. I thought it looked bogus, but wasn't sure since i don't know a lot about engines. Thanks guys. I wouldn't have paid that much anyhow, but now i won't even be tempted.

Anyone tried a Turbonator
Has anyone here tried these turbonators ? I thought they looked interesting and wondered if they really make a difference in fuel economy or performance.

Coolant leaking from Tranny
yah, its pretty messy. I haven't had the time to get the underside cleaned yet. Most of that is dirt build up because it is always wet. That oil you see around the spout on the pan is not a leak, i just changed the oil 2 days ago and it was really windy, blowing it about everywhere.
