I haven't seen anyone use one of those in a S30 before. Can it work? i suppose its possible, but I really can't say. hybridz.com is probably a better place to look for this kind of info.

Thats why they made the Opel GT LOL

After filling in my info, I think i kinda like the new one better.
  5. Wow, that would be something to see. Not too many exotic cars around here. There are 2 Ford GT's maybe 3 Vipers, a Lamborghini Diablo, and a Lotus Esprit V8. If you consider the Corvette Z06 rare, i guess there are a few of those too.

Wow, I hadn't even noticed they changed it. When did they do that? Seems like a lot of work to re-do everything again.
  7. In Kansas we sure do. Its leftover fuel from Oklahoma and the highest it goes is 91. In lots of other states like Indiana they have 93 for premium.
  8. Not at a station, but the drag strip sell the purple 100+ octane racing fuel. Thats not the point though. Im trying to LOWER the level of octane the car needs. It does fine on 91, but i would prefer to run 87 and save that $0.20 per gallon difference.
  9. They also re-surfaced the head, but they took off an absolute minimum. That was my assumtion that the new gasket, plus the shorter head may have raised compression, but who knows. The difference for filling up with premium over regular is only about $3 per fill up, but thats still almost an extra gallon of gas or a meal at Burger King. Every $3 adds up.
  10. Ever since I replaced my head gasket last winter, my car has needed premium gas in order not to knock. With the recent gas prices I tried to put in midgrade (89) and the car did not like it one bit. It would hesitate and accelerate really rough and the knock was still there. Before I did the head gasket I was able to run regular 87 octane without issues, and now I have to run 91 or the car runs like crap. Could this be as simple as adjusting the timing? I did have to reset the timing when did the head gasket because I let the tensioner spring, but I made sure all the marks on the cam, crankshaft, and chain were lined up and used a light to set it. Would fooling around with the distributer help me out any? I'd just really lke to drive this every day again, but I can't do that with gas costing so much.

Depending on the temperature I have done as good as 23mpg and as bad as 16. It will ususally be somewhere in there. It wouldn't be so bad if the car didn't demand premium. It used to be my daily driver, but I can't afford it right now and drive my Geo. Either way, 16-23 is MUCH better than the 6mpg it got the first time I drove it.
  12. That is exactly what mine did. Finally it gave out and I got a new one and replaced my diff entirely. I opened up the old one and if you look in my gallery, you can see the damage that was done. I drove mine in the same condition you describe from February to August, then one day it just blew. It stopped howling and just sounded like someone was beating the bottom of my car with a baseball bat.

    $50 maybe?
  14. That red interior would make me hurl

I'd really go for something newer. I have a 97 Geo Prizm that I drive when the weather isn't fair or gas is too much (like now.) I just saw a 95 5 speed sell for $1500 here in KS and I would highly reccomend getting one. They are nice cars and get up to 34mpg easily. They are pretty spacious and I have never had an issue with mine. A ZX might be fun, but I honestly can't believe any car thats 24+ years old is going to be THAT reliable. In the end, I think you would save a lot of money buying something thats a little more recent.

I am 100% certain that without this message board my car would either be dead or sold by now. I think its pretty safe to say I love this place.
  17. Why not sell your 914 insted?
  18. It was a 928. It was in the UK, so it was 1500 GBP not US dollars.

Figure out which one does better on gas.

Woah! Deja Vu! I just used some to plug a pinhole in the fuel tank of my Buick! I tried all kinds of fuel tank repair kits and all failed within a day or so. Finally we got the JB Weld to do the job. Using soap to fill the hole was a good idea. Wish I had tried that a lot earlier. It may have helped with some of my other patches.

Wow. I am really impressed. Your car looks amazing. I would LOVE it if my car looked half that good. I kept mine in the garage this winter a lot too, but thats mostly due to the fact the heater got blown out. And the winter before that the head gasket was blown.

This is a 92 but the specs are the same I think for the most part.
  23. I remember they did that on the episode of Top Gear when they all had to drive a Porsche that cost less than 1500 across the country. I guess one of them had a radiator leak.
  24. Thats why I think people who drive stupid like that should only be allowed to own Geo Metros and Kia's.
  25. I'm going to guess 4
