How early? Both of my 70 240Zs are secured with rivets in the engine bay and doors
  2. Hi Dave - Just sent you a paypal Cheers, Glen

I'm 6'4" and fit in my 240(s) with no problem. I replaced the seat foam and the added height has reduced my headroom, but still fit. The spacers are out of the seats, putting them flat on the mounting points. It'll get better as the foam settles.

I went through the same thing on a '70 that had sat for a long time. Ended up dropping the tank and cleaning it out. Now it seems to run out pretty well. I'll be sure to drain the tank next time I park it so it should start up easier next time. OK - thinking out loud here. I wonder if opening up the drain plug, draining the tank, then hitting the inside of the tank with a pressure washer would clean out a moderately dirty tank. That might be easier than dropping the tank - then again, it might just make a hell of a mess and then means dropping the tank while rolling around in a bunch of cruddy water. :-\

Could also be blockage in the fuel line or at the tank. I fought that on a '70 that I've been working on. You can drop a fuel line from the fuel pump into a gas can to see if it picks up gas from there and runs. That would rule out the pump and a simple test to run.

Send the carbs to ZTherapy. They are the true experts. I highly doubt you will get quality work done anyplace else. I would guess virtually every member on the board would agree with that.

Pull the oil pump and see where the mark is.
  8. Kenny - you are living the dream there!! I fear a trooper 'finding' us in one our spirited Z mountain cruises. I think it would be tough talking my way out of a ticket if I were observed drifting around a turn. Then again, I am older and a bit wiser. I'm not running 90+ everywhere in my Z like I used to in college. I will say that black ice in the middle of Wyoming on a Sunday night can make for an interesting adventure.
  9. Arne, Mine arrived today - great packaging and a wonderful product. Thanks for all the hard work!

Cool - you are close by. We'll have to come up with a time when you can come over this way. I can show you my shop & collection. Another Z guy is just "around the corner" from me. I'm sure he'd be happy to show off his herd of Z's as well.

Welcome Glockrebel. What part of CO are you in? In N Colorado we have a pretty good group of Z-guys that get together for shop time & cruises. I may be selling one of my 1970 Z's. Numbers match, complete, rust free as far as I can tell, needs full restore. Cheers, Glen
  12. Darrell, I might be storing that ZX engine in my '70 It's important to keep the fluids moving in one.

I agree with Kenz240z (his cars are very nice, BTW). Like Kenny, I'm a self-taught wrench & body guy. Every project I get a little bit better - at least that's the goal. If it were me (and I admit I think differently), I'd take on the worse one first - cut out the bad rust, weld in some new panels and see how it goes. I've been able to get old door skins from body shops for free and use that in most places. By experimenting on my worst car, I feel I've learned an awful lot so as I work on my nicer Z's the quality of my work has improved. Ask your local buddies for advice, beer & BBQ goes a long way! I'm sure they will teach you a lot! Great find - keep posting updates.
  15. I've got 2 1970's.

Does anyone have the dimensions, shape, and location of the supports for the urethane air dam? Thanks
  18. OK, I know this is nit picking on an otherwise stellar site. But why oh why are pictures posted on the front page "latest gallery upload " section before they are approved for viewing? Yeah, my life must be pretty easy if that's all I have to complain about.
