Dan, I really appreciate your efforts. I am glad that you are recouping your cost for the project. My car is going to look like fantastic with the new decals, etc. Andrew(ZCurves)

I have purchased a set from Banzai Motorworks, they're perfect and priced right too!

I'll get some pics this weekend (I store the car at my brothers business). I'll take the door and fender off before she goes to "RustHaven" to be made into a Washing Machine!
  5. I have used a product named LEXOL(See the attached pic). This stuff is available at ACE or Kroger. It is glycerin based and contains lanolin. You rub this stuff on and then go back and wipe it off with a wet warm towel. Cleans like a genie! Leaves the leather/vinyl smooth and clean with a moisturizer like hand cream. No funky odor.

    Please PM with details too!

I know for sure that the drivers door is workable. It just needs gone over real well and then have the dings pulled, etc. (I might want to keep the regulator though...) The fender has some rust in the usual spot, but I am confident that it can be used (especially if it is free- right?). These are probably the best parts left on the car. Soon it will be sent to the scrap yard and just be a memory. If you are serious, I'll get some pics and send them to you. That way you wont be driving down for nothing.

Hello, I have a couple of these armrests. One is brand Spankin new and will be used on my restoration, the other is used which I grabbed out of a wreck. I am going to use the original as a template for a leather copy to match my seats. I will be happy to supply pics or even a pattern if any of you are interested. Send me a PM. ZCurves

I have a parts car in Houston (Actually Humble,Tx), plus a few other parts that you might be able to use. I know that the hood on my parts car is crap, but the Fender and Drivers door are ok -I know that they will need some work. Here is the deal: You come and get em and they are yours. I'll charge you my standard fee, Cold Beer.

FWIW: On a former Z that I owned I had the same moulding that yours seems to have. I found that they seemed to always stay dirty and hold water - which encouraged rust. Dealers were famous for upselling these cars by placing add-ons such as the riveted side moulding and rear louvers. They were ok -at the time. When I took my Z into the paint shop, I had all of the holes welded shut and went with a real low profile 5/8" Band Moulding that was painted to match the car. It is very similar to what is currently placed on a Infiniti G Series sedan. I purchased the moulding at TASCO Auto Color for $25.00. I would like to see your Z when it is complete. 611 Burgundy is pretty rare. Perhaps a Photoshoot will be in order this spring??!! Andrew

I have found all of the Window felt and weatherstripping from Precision Replacement Parts in Seattle. They had a complete kit (with a few exceptions). I have the parts list if anyone is interested or you can go here: http://www.prp.com/ . I found the prices VERY reasonable. ALSO, I found that Black Dragon had the best prices on the Inner Fuzzies that mount to the Door Panel as well as the Belt Line Seal (Chrome strip at the base of the window with a rubber squeegie). If anyone is looking for parts I probably am about 10 steps in front of you...I am willing to give my two cents where I found my parts if your willing to do the same. Andrew

I had to chime in...I have pretty much done all of that with my Z over the last 25 years. One thing everyone should check/change when doing a water pump replacement are the little Belt Tensioner Bearings. They are around $10 ea and will quiet your engine alot! They are the source of many 'mystery' noises.
  16. Gentlemen, Thanks A LOT! sblake01, you were dead on. I must have read that paragraph at least a dozen times; I guess that I was too close and needed to stop and step back. I suppose that when I did not hear the pump buzz then I got spooked and started looking everywhere for a problem. I am certain that I will be needing some more input from you guys in the very near future as I wake my buddy back up from his nap. I only hope that I can help you guys out in the future! Thanks again!!
  17. I have a 1978 280Z that I have been restoring and I have finished with the engine, etc. under the hood. I wanted to get it up and running to begin the task of adjusting, fine tuning and such. When I turn the key to ON - not Start (although the pump should also run in Start) I am not getting ANY fuel pump buzz. I have had a 78 model for around twenty years and I know the fuel pump should be running initially in the 'ON' position. I have installed a new Fuel Pump and Oil Sender. I have also checked all of the relays and fuses. If I unplug the Oil Sender OR the Alternator, then the fuel pump jumps to life and operates as it should. So, what I need to know is what else could be goofed up that would keep the Fuel Pump from running. Any help would be much appreciated.

My 1978 280z from start to finish. I have had a '78 s30 Z for the last 33 years - this particular one for 20 years. I found it in derelict condition at a local fire station waiting to be used in training for car fires! I negotiated my way to acquiring the car for FREE! Towed it home and restored it over several years. Original 510 Blue, New EVERYTHING including a NOS Dash from Nissan and a leather seats.
