  1. Very nice decomposition. Now the big question is.....What color?? Gentlemen...Let The Games Begin! BTW, although I retained the OEM 510 Lt. Met Blue on my Z, I am currently turned on to the Candy Orange and Candy Green that is on the current Chevrolet Camaro.
  2. Ok, I understand. Help me out here, most of my parts are from a '77 - '78. Does your model have the screws with the larger washers that hug the glass to the guide? If so, then I may have several that I can get for you. How many would you be looking for? On the '77-'78 models there is also a series of rubber bumpers in the guide. You can use split vacuum hose for that - I am not sure of the earlier S30's though.
  3. Why don't you have a body shop see what the extent of the rust is and determine if it can be stopped. If you are lucky, you'll only have to service/replace the regulators.

If you are going to try to repair it yourself, try Kevlar or 'Spider wire' fishing line. It might be time to have a Pro work the radio over or consider doing the Retro-Sound upgrade. http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icatalog/zr/full.aspx?Page=2
  5. Richard, Specifically, are you working on the Door Glass or the Quarter Windows? For my Z, I ordered the rubber seals for the Door Glass and Quarter Windows from Precision Replacement (www.prp.com), they had a very good fit. I was less impressed with the fitment on the Door Weatherstrip and Hatch -but that is another discussion (and thread). There is quite a bit of effort involved in replacing these parts, do not waste your time with used rubber, be patient and find the proper replacement parts. I found stainless fasteners at the local home improvement store -always use stainless if you have the option. I found that the screwheads and threads on the Quarter Windows tend to strip. It might be necessary to go up a size so they'll tighten.

Thank you Webdog and jaroberts! This will work. Pictures are always great, I'll post some when I get my dash together. I think that I will do the Shop-Vac hose and insulate it prior to install.

rlbjrcpa, On the Radiator Support there are a couple of pieces that are welded together to make up the piece, I would use a Course wire wheel and clean up the loose rust and then soak everything with Phosphoric Acid (you can buy at any paint shop). After the phosphoric acid dries, then cover it up with the POR-15 or other inhibitor or you could just prime and paint. Straight Phosphoric Acid is basically the same as POR's Metal-Ready and is thin enough to get into the recesses and between welded panels. Some of the inhibitors are kinda thick and have a difficult time penetrating the 'hidden' spots. Good luck, post pics!

Thanks everyone, I am getting closer to figuring this one out! It is nice to know that some of these parts are still available. If anyone else has some answers, give us a post. I be sure to share what I find out!

Thanks for your help! The slinky hoses attach to the duct that I am holding, I am just having problems figuring out the orientation of the duct. Is there one on the passenger side like what I am holding? Is it a 'mirror image' of the one I am holding? I looked at the Micro-Fiche and it does not show much either. I guess a few picture from a few of my Z Car friends will be what it takes.

I am preparing my dash to go back in the car and I have forgotten the orientation of the plastic ducts inside the dash (see picture). To make things worse, it appears that I have two (Drivers Side?) ducts. I have consulted the FSM and Fiche, still stuck.:stupid: Could some of you please look at yours (especially if you have a '78) and let me know? Pics, although difficult on an installed dash, would be nice. I am especially confused about the smaller hose that feeds the vent under the steering column. Thanks in advance.

DUH! Stupid Me! You are very clever! Ha! Ha! What makes it even funnier (or sad) is that I work in IT! - Awesome.

Now that's what I'm talking bout! Glad to hear it is fixed and the solution was easy enough too!

Hello Everyone, I am having a heck of a time locating the rubber seals that go over the Door Jamb Switches on my '78 Z. I have checked MSA, BD even Ebay and nothing - zero. So, If anyone can give me a hand I would really appreciate it. Please PM me or respond to the thread if you can help.
  17. Just do the "Crush" Technique - just hammer the grease cups a little at a time until the center caps fit. I have the exact same wheels and that is what worked for me. It is also wise to get a set of new caps "just to have" for spares.
  18. When I was reworking my lighting, I cleaned ALL of my connections... I removed all of my Fuses and then cleaned the Fuse Block with a small brass wire wheel and a Dremel tool and replaced the fuses with new ones. Did the same for the Fusible Link connections (you may not have those). Replaced all of the Brake/Tail/Running Lamps and Cleaned the Sockets. Replaced both the Flasher and Hazard relays with modern versions and used a spray electrical connection cleaner on the rest of the connections. Used Dielectric Grease to keep connections clean and corrosion away. Finally (and most delicate\tricky)... I Removed the Headlight Combo Switch and carefully opened and cleaned the individual circuit boards. I Removed the Turn Signal Switch and carefully opened and cleaned the individual circuit board. The Results: Much Brighter Lights all around. Way Cooler Fuse Block (Especially around the Headlamp Circuits). Much Quicker Turn/Hazard signals. Everything has a much cleaner "Snap" when turned on -rather than the previous sleepy/lazy response. ** If you are getting into the Combo Switches and need advice, please ask. I'll see if I can post a how to guide. (If there is interest)
  19. I have one that I was planning to use on my '78, but like was said in an earlier post the BD Harness Upgrade Kit is for earlier model Z's - I will not be using it as I refreshed my connections instead. You can have mine for $20, PM me if interested.

sblake01 I do not understand the Windows Vista error messages in your signature. Am I missing something??
  22. ZCurves replied to neveragain55's post in a topic in Fuel Injection
I would check all of the fundamentals... Check the EFI lead to the positive side of the battery. Check the Fusible Links. Check to make sure that you have a spark/proper timing. Check Fuel Pump operation. Do you have Fuel at the Rail? Check/Change Fuel Filter. Check/Change Fuel Pressure Regulator. Check connections to the AFM (No MAF), TPS. Test AFM and TPS operation. Check Ignition Module. Check wire issue noted by 'FastWoman'. I believe that if you do these things in conjunction with the EFI Bible, you will discover your problem. Be sure to post your findings on this thread so that others may benefit. Good luck

I am in the process of putting in a new dash in my '78 and I would really like to replace the old AC Duct-Work with fresh new stuff. Does anyone have a lead where I could get a complete set? Please let me know! I have been looking at old school breather hoses from the parts store, and they would work if I wrapped them with insulation. The problem is finding the smaller 1 inch hose to the floor area... I plan to post pictures of the process.
  24. Try running the heater, leaving the cap off (See post #9) to burp. Also see if you get any air when you place your hand on the radiator cap filler (warm engine!) and squeeze the top hose. When outside temps change, run for 5 mins, turn off motor and remove plugs again. Check for moisture again.

Yep, no cloth until 1979, when the ZX made its debut.
