Hey Steve, you didn't need to tell them about that...

Yes, that's the response I was looking for. Nope, got a few other projects in front of the wipers, like getting the '83 thru emissions. Both Roadsters, the '71 and '74 are smog exempt here, but not the '83. That'll teach me to buy such a big, fat, bloated pig.

    Kinda like this?

Thanks for replying, this post was mainly for you & your love of the 280ZX...Robert

Man, it's gonna be a long walk home from work today, seeing as how I drove the '71 in today...

I know this is kind of a sensitive subject, but last night, after work, I was wrenching on my '83 280ZX, wearing one of my new Classic Zcar Club shirts
  7. Not sure if it's the same on 280 Zs or not, but on my '83 280ZX (hope it's OK to use that on this "Classic" forum), the larger rubber ring goes on the injector, up near the electrical connection. There's a ridge on my 280ZX injectors where they go. HTH...Robert

    WOW! That's Sweet

I had a fuel leak on my '83 280ZX, so I replaced all of the FI Hoses, Rubber Insulators, and the Plastic Holders. This was about 6 months ago. I've noticed that 2 of the Plastic Holders have already cracked. Did I crank the bolts down too hard? What is the proper torque on the bolts that hold the injectors in place? Thanks for your help...Robert
  10. Yes, it's got a black vinyl top. I've only owned the car since last summer so I don't know much about it's history, but some people think it's the original vinyl??? The vinyl was causing some rust issues, so the original hatch is in my garage awaiting restoration. I'll probably end up getting rid of the vinyl, thinking of painting the entire car black...Robert http://home.comcast.net/~r.long2/Img/240Z_Rear.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~r.long2/Img/240Z_Front.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~r.long2/Img/Long7.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~r.long2/Img/240Z_1.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~r.long2/Img/240Z_Engine.jpg Not a Z, but I'm kinda proud of this pic I took of my '89 325i yesterday http://home.comcast.net/~r.long2/Img/BMW-Snow5-Small.jpg
  11. I took this picture yesterday, 03/15/05. The Yellow & Black is my '71 240Z. In front of that is my '83 280ZX. And to the left is my '74 260Z. We got dumped on...Robert
  12. What does everyone thing of those springs that were part of sale?
  13. From looking at the photoshops, I'd say silver too...Robert

Would a fan shroud buy you anything, if you have electric pulling fans?

    Maybe an early Roadster?
  16. Thanks Alfadog, that was some good info. But I'm feeling kinda embarrassed after reading some of the comments about vinyl tops: From HS30-H: No, certainly not commonly seen these days - but I bet there were originally more takers than we think. Luckily, I think most of the cars fitted with these either died of shame or got a haircut in later life. This is one early '70's style accessory that probably can't come back without a hint of irony. From Gee: I thought about it, but it did look pretty horrible so I passed on the car. Other than looking awful, vinyl can be a trap for rust. I can attest for the vinyl top being a rust trap. I plan to pull it off this summer. Robert

I just bought some from the Stealer...Robert
  18. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I'll probably take it to a couple of autox's this summer. I've taken my 1600 for the last couple of years (HS), so this will be a huge step up (BSP)...Robert
  19. Yes, it's mine. I brought it back from California last summer, so I can't really say if the vinyl top is dealer or factory. Can anyone chime in?
  20. OK, they're actually slightly used (3500 miles) 15x7 Panasports, with 215x60x15 Bridgestone Potenza RE950s, that I got as a package from Les at Classic Datsun Motorsports. http://home.comcast.net/~r.long2/Img/240Z_1.jpg A few questions for the forum: - Anyone have any comments about these tires? - I torqued the wheels to 70 lbs, does that sound OK - I set the tire pressure to 30 lbs, suggestions? Thanks...Robert
  21. So True! My '71 has an F54 block, N42 head, N36 intake, round top SUs, and a 5 speed. A little from this, a little from that...Robert
  22. It's a tough crowd, hopefully you won't hammer me too bad for owning an '83 Big Fat Bloated 280ZX, but it sure makes for a nice cruiser...Robert
  23. I'm OK with the 350Z, it's starting to grow one me...Robert
